I would then use clouding swarm, but that means either use overload or the newly possible meteor + rune cage combo.
Streak is still a very good skill that I would not drop so easily.
Rune Cage + Soul Assault is even better, dirt cheap, hits like a truck and won't break your Rune Cage.
Did they change something with Rune Cage?

As for damage shields, its a forgone conclusion that Hardened Ward and others will most likely be re-adjusted (I'll be suprised if they are not) that makes the other options more attractive.
Im not saying Bolt Escape is bad, its not, i just can;t justifying using it over something else now because there are other skills and potions that do close to the same thing but cost far far less and in the case of Mist Form actually mitigate damage and prevent most CC without any cost prohibitive penalties associated with it. this makes sense to me from a math standpoint.

Ok then you admitted that is just your opinion then and your PERSONAL choice... just because you cant bolt escape across the map anymore does not mean its a bad ability....
Yes it is a re-positioning ability, and yes it is working how its supposed to work now without being exploited.

The key, in my opinion, to getting the best results out of Mist is to learn how to control the length of the effect. I've experimenting with using various means to cut short a Mist channel, and the best way (so far) seems to be quickly tapping escape. This allows you to dodge an incoming hit of heavy damage, while not gimping your regen significantly.

Why not just weapon swap? If it's only on one bar, then it cancels. Though I have Devouring Swarm on my other bar for the regen passive change...

I tried weapon swapping for a while. The problem is that you have to make an unpleasant choice: either have the same exact skills on both bars or get used to being confused about what bar you are on in the heat of battle. BTW, weapon swapping will cancel Mist Form even if it is on both bars.
I really wish @ZOS would make a dedicated key bind for "cancel attack" that had no cost or side effects.
The real problem with the bolt / dodge changes is the timer until you cast it again. We have no way of monitoring this on console and its just poor design in general. Nobody wants to sit there and go, hmm should I cast bolt now or wait another 1 second to be extra safe I dont use mana.. so bad. The resource cost should grow until 4-5 seconds then reset regardless of when the last ability was cast.

Fine with me.
From my testing Mistform will cancel on weapon swap regardless of wether you slotted it on both bars. The real problem with the bolt / dodge changes is the timer until you cast it again. There is a visual cue actually... nothing else on PC either

Plus the cost debuff lasts only 4 secs? You can still sbield stack for ages until you can port away.
Most sorcs were too much used to this "break outta jail" card because it was spammable as hell.
Best comparison: in league of legend you can blink away once every 2-3 mins and its still op as hell.
