Console: Should text chat be implemented with the IC patch?

Mighty_oakk✭✭✭✭✭YesThe amusing thing is even with the poll being mixed in with IC patch it's still this heavily pro text chat.
If you removed the IC and just said at some point it would even be higher yes as some vote no afraid it would delay the IC patch.
I'm also sure the two or three who think they speak for the "silent majority" and have proclaimed themselves arbiters of everything the console crowd wants have made excuses somewhere in this thread.
Yeah probably shouldn't of used the IC thing since it's abit unrealistic but 80% or 90% no real difference in the eyes of a normal business.1 -

100% optional means that as someone not interested, pin settings I should have a text chat on/off option that allows my game to look exactly like it does right now.
The other issue is that I ask if implemented it works just like voice chat.
Meaning no zone text chat but proximity text chat, group chat and guild chat
No battle chat for Cyrodil.
The fog of war and current design seems to limit and deter spamming, gold spammers, rude and bullying or zone arguments and ppl trolling or just online to grief others.

I believe many who are apart of this community are aware that I'm not for the feature.

Also to be clear: As someone that was in the console beta for the whopping four days it lasted: the console beta did NOT have any form of text chat, it was voice only. I'm not sure why so many people are spreading that false info recently.

During the Console demonstration earlier this year, there was a VERY noticable hidden text chatbox thing when they showed the PS4 version, meaning it clearly was there at that time. Sometime between that demonstration and the May console beta though, it was removed.
This was well known for a long time, but within the last week or so someone started a rumor that it was fully in the console beta. That has spread a lot unfortunately, and is just an out right lie.

Skipped to a minute in. These people actually believe that their controller setup is optimal for gameplay. I'm actually done. I was playing while reading the forums. That comment made me log out. Thanks for letting me open the map while I'm moving. Or letting me press the right d pad to switch between quests. Drake_Fury✭✭✭NoDon't get me wrong here. I want text chat more than anything for this game. But it's clearly not going to be ready for IC release, even if they start working on it now.
Text chat is a very important feature to mmos and should be there, but we can't put a deadline on something that they're not even promising yet. IC is probably aleready ready. They're tweaking some stuff and repairing bugs, but adding more content barely more than a month before release is impossible.
Adding it to IC would mean havng to delay IC, and while I wouldn't care because I'm no fan of PvP, I can see why a lot of PvPers would be angry.

The same way it works with DCUO, FFXIV on PS4 and the same way as it worked for FFXI on PS2 and Xbox360. Play with your gamepad and type with your keyboard. Again, text chat is not something you do along group members in the middle of fighting, that is precisely what voice chat is made for. Text is good between combats, when you want to make sure everyone understands strategies, or to see what's happening in your guild while you're in group, or to search for a group, or to buy/sell, or to do any communication if you're deaf. Being able to catch up on a conversation after a drink break. There is so many situations for which text is better than voice.
Like I was saying to someone in PM, there is a phrase in french that we use a lot, roughly translated it goes like this:

So turn it off. I don't want to have to listen to immature players shouting profane/sexist/bigot terminology every time I zone to a wayshrine in a major city. Guess what I do, I turn off voice chat. AMAZING what you can do with the power of the options. Options that are available on the PC and would obviously be available on the console version.

We consolers simply require this, ZOS. Are you aware that PvP group organizers have devolved their recruitment strategy to repeating, "stand by me for an invite" at objectives? Are you aware that people queue for dungeon groups never intending to communicate with the group AT ALL? The current system is game breaking.
I'm asking all of you to make this poll a clear, overwhelming demand for immediate implementation of text chat. We require this and we WILL NOT get it without concerted action on this forum. Thank you in advance
What ya don't understand is the time it takes for ps4 keyboard to come up is way to long idk about Xbox one but by the time you type what you need to say the whole situation is already changing if not changed already1 -
Geemarc✭✭✭YesConsole needs text chat and a fix to group finder. Its that simple.
I've leveled two characters to Vet 14 on the PS4 now and finding groups to do dungeons is near impossible.
The only options are to use a broken group finder that takes ages and when it finally puts you in a group its not a full party or standing around at the wayshrine in Craglorn etc trying to find people. Joining a guild provides the same issues, unless you are part of core of people you know, you still need to jump between comms channels trying to find people who probably aren't even listening.
A lot of people cant even use a microphone have the game muted or are in a PSN voice chat and therefore cant hear you speaking or reply. How is a small text box more immersion breaking than listening to someone who doesn't have a mute button on their microphone and is therefore transmitting everything that is happening around them whether that be music, arguments, in game noise from speakers etc.
Add text chat and fix group finder ASAP. It should be their top priority.

SpacepigSoul ShrivenYesI would really like it to be added. This is a feature on every console mmo since Everquest and FFXI on ps2. So the argument that its on console so that's why it's not there is just ignorant . Keyboard worked great back then. I do like the voice chat for groups but I mainly keep it turned of due to the poor quality of others and the constant non game related noises0
