We consolers simply require this, ZOS. Are you aware that PvP group organizers have devolved their recruitment strategy to repeating, "stand by me for an invite" at objectives? Are you aware that people queue for dungeon groups never intending to communicate with the group AT ALL? The current system is game breaking.
I'm asking all of you to make this poll a clear, overwhelming demand for immediate implementation of text chat. We require this and we WILL NOT get it without concerted action on this forum. Thank you in advance
We already have voice chat? Whats the point of this?
It's such a waste of dev time... Just get on the mic and talk.
Honestly, why would you want text chat? I'm genuinely curious.
Man, this discussion was going really well a few hours ago.... @NewBlacksmurf who's been one of the most vocal opponents of text chat and several of us who think it's mandatory actually reach common ground and now we have false facts, wild supposition and crazy analogies running rampant... Nice.
Let me give you ideologues an example of why I created this poll. For the last 3 hours on PS4, I've been running around from city to city, crafting station to crafting station trying to find a woodworker who can craft a VR1 lightning staff with precise(my research is 12 days out) for my sorc and have not found a single person. That's not worst of it though; only about 1 in 20 people I asked in area chat even heard me and in-game mail was worse. Here's the kicker: nearly every person I sent a PSN message to answered me, many of them even checking alts in an attempt to help. The community wants to interact; we're being prevented from doing so.

Discussions are around the idea and proposal of a text chat window and/or box within the social menu.
Placed here so there are no sacrifices to the gameplay UI and compatible with many different peripherals or devices.
This concept is to please and compromise those who want text chat and those who don't want text chat.
It's a common ground approach and pages back propose unique ways to manage or handle this proposal
Please let's continue this type of discussion and stop commenting on why "we personally" think, want, need, dislike, don't need and don't want things.
The purpose is not to convince Zenimax or another user why we may want or not want something.
The goal is to have a discussion in efforts to solidify a sound way for such a proposal to work without changing anything else other than what's added within the social tab.

Those other methods have not resulted in additional feedback since we heard why Zenimax scrapped the idea during development while talking on the April ESo Live episode. More commentary was shared again in June during ESo live so what we've learned is there isn't interest in discussion on why or why not but there possibly an opportunity to discuss and solidify a sound approach IF EVER Zenimax were to consider it.
This also allows the community to have positive input so that IF it occurs, the reaction is positive all around as best possible.

Advice to everyone. There's two posters in this and every thread about text, character names, and remapping of controls , essentially anything console related , who think Zenimax can do no wrong , who think they speak for all console players , and who think they know better. They go back and forth attempting to "compromise" and then to troll.
Just remember they are two regular accounts , who basically try and act important or as if they matter more. One tries to act like some insider know it all , the other trolls attempting to get people to argue more.
Both are jokes. Simply ignore them , don't let them bait you into arguing too much , as its what they want. And I'm not "naming them" because heaven forbid they get called out. But I think it's easy enough to figure out which one is the know it all fake insider who tells others what to talk about , and the other one a contradictory troll.
Might as well just not give them any attention.

I am not anti text chat just anti HUD clutter.

Who the hell made you the decider of what we want or what we should talk about? I've read several of your posts and you seem to come off as someone who thinks you know more than others , speak for console players , and are some sort of important poster. I'm new and can see you are full of it. I want standard text chat window that can be fully optional for those who don't want to use it. As I have had in EVERY OTHER CONSOLES MMO I have played. Are you that delusional that you think you have some authority to tell others what they should or should not think or post about ? You are one poster that matters no more than any other. Get over yourself.
You will come to realize that NBS has delusions of grandeur. He has been called all many times by console players to quit acting like he is their representative.
You are correct , he knows no more than anyone else , nor has any right to suggest what others should or should not talk about.
Don't compromise , if you want a text chat option with standard chat say so.
Just don't let the two or three posters here and in other chat threads who act like they know better get to you. Just laugh and chuckle when you realize how delusional they are.

This thread isn't about a "second screen solution".
It is about "Text Chat in the IC Patch".
