People who play only one game at a time tend to be at the forefront of complaints about that game, and invariably burn out on it. I avoid problems like lack of endgame, running out of content etc by playing several games and alternating my time between them. I also play multiple characters rather than sticking with one, and if a game is good enough I'll sometimes buy a second account (especially if the game limits the number of characters). I have a couple of accounts on LoTRO, EQ2 and ESO, for example.

I've never really fancied sticking to a single character in a single game, whenever I've tried it I've found that it feels too much like a chore with no other options when I sit down at the computer but to log in that character in that game. I like the choice and flexibility that come with running different characters and different games. It just becomes too monotonous otherwise. I can understand, however, that it's different if you play very socially and need to keep up with your friends and guildmates, although I play neither socially nor competitively myself.

I'm never bored with a game because if I'm not in the mood to play one game there's always something else to play (and there is life away from the computer), but I guess it's all down to a case of doing what you enjoy. What I never understand is why people who complain of being bored doing things one way don't try doing things a different way instead.

I schedule my time, so I mix a few other games in with ESO...BUT

I play other multiplayer games when people plan activities. So if I get all that we are vet dungeon running, I may play ESO on a night I wasn't planning to. Or I might be playing Battlefield: Hardline because a whole bunch of people will be doing that. Randomly played online poker with friends on Sat. night.

I'm maybe 20 hours in on Witcher 3, and have 102 hours in Dragon Age INQ. 1 more big zone and a DLC I think left. to beat on hard.

it's not really an issue for me for *how* can I play all these games...it's weird. In general, I prefer to focus - however, I also have wildly different genre interests when it comes to games, and my mood swings, mostly unpredictably, about what I want to immerse myself in at any given moment.

So, I'll generally be in the mood for fantasy - I'll play some ESO, then I'll want something with a more focused story and less (i.e. NO) other people, and I'll drop into a single player fantasy game like Dragon Age or PoE. Then, I'll take a break for dinner, and watch an episode of star trek (I'm *loving* bbc america - thank you britain!!), and suddenly I want sci-fi spaceship adventure, and I'll switch to Star Trek Online, or maybe reload Mass Effect or some such.

Then, late that day, I need some empty-headed shooty bang bang, and it's on to Far Cry 4 or some other first person shooter

and then log into some LOTRO when I want to remind myself why MMO's exist (i.e. great people)

so - I've got a fairly wide library of games, so that any time I've got a *mood*, I've got a game that can *mostly* satisfy that mood (although, lately, games are more and more often coming up less exciting and versatile than the scenarios I create in my head - I'm about 2 steps away from just grabbing a bunch of my old star wars figures and starting to play with toys again - at least that way I get the script I WANT to watch instead of whatever some other guy made up and came up short on...)

Single Player Dragon Age: Inquisition (in progress)

Most of these I've had a lot of time to hit max on and I usually split time between 2 games a day over a 5 hour period after work.

I have played many MMORGs in my time and, in my opinion, this is the only one so far that feels fun with PVP being a complete different dynamic than PVE. Craft mat collecting is pleasantly addicting and adds a nice flavor to PVE questing. Its far from perfect, but it is not painful to play like other games I have tried.

I find ESO is perfect for an hour or two after I get home from work , wife watching soaps on telly , I have keypad and mmo mouse with 4k monitor that pulls out from wall , we both sit on sofa and chat while I play a bit and she messes on iPad while watching TV.
I will get back into Elite when they get their act together or Star Citizen (not holding my breath) cos I love the Hotas setup , but it's just not casual enough really. (Weekend gaming I guess)

Love a single player RPG but Witcher was just too much for me, Far cry was brilliant , just hope Fallout is as good.

Will prob always come back to ESO though (just don't tell zenimax that)

I can concentrate on just one game but ZOS has a talent of giving you reasons to not play their game at all. They are quite amazing at it.

Me: Screw Dungeons and Pledges Not much point in running any of this crap until I get to V16

News: New PVP gear will not be purchasable with AP but in some "incomprehensible gibberish way" because stupid reasons
Me: Screw PVP.

News: We are reducing EXP per rank and increasing exp gains.
Me: No point in playing until 1.7. Screw ranking up these alts.


News: We are absolutely removing the Vet ranks even if it doesn't make no freaking sense whatsoever. It will take some time because we just added some extra reasons for it to not make any sense. We know that it will be impossible to remove this crap without invalidating you leveling and gearing progress one more sniping time.
Me : No reason to play until ... Screw it .. never.

I'm slowly phasing out my XBox 360, and what makes this great is there's not many games for the XBox One I'm interested in playing. The good games seem to be timing well enough for release I can easily put this game down, play the new one, then come back. ESO is definitely a time-burner for me.

This time, I told myself I will no longer buy games unless I play them (yeah, right). So far, so good, but in looking at what's coming out on the horizon, I fear my ideology is going to fail again.

Meh. I'm okay with it. Never hurts to have more games than a few. :P

Killing time here waiting for Fallout 4 and MGSV then next year hopefully TES6

I don't have very many different games that I play, personally.

I play mostly MMO's and single-player RPG's (RIFT is my other main game). As you said, they take quite a while to finish and fully experience, and in the case of MMO's you never really "finish" an MMO.

So because of the genre that I favor, I find that I only really play a very small number of different games. Right now I play ESO, the single-player Elder Scrolls games, and RIFT. That's it.

But those games hold so much content that I never find myself feeling bored, and there's so much to these games that I never feel as if I'm "missing out" on the other games in other genre's being released.

Everyone (IMO) needs to at some point really self-reflect on which games/genre are the ones they'll really "play" rather than just play for a day or two and then never pick up again. for instance; I despise Driving/Flying Sims, FPS's, and RTS's, so I know I will never buy games in those genre, nor will I feel as if I'm missing out. Sports games are the first genre of games that I've actually fallen asleep to, so those are a no-go.

MMO's and RPG's are the only games that hold my attention for any appreciable length of time, so I know that when I pick one up, I've given it enough thought that I've "weeded out a stinker title", and that the game I decide to purchase will give me hundreds if not thousands of hours of entertainment.

Also; my wife is an accountant, so with me only buying select games in these two genre, I'm not blowing a fortune on games, and that makes her happy. lol
