Is zenimax discriminating against deaf people on consoles by not adding text chat

Or you know, consoles aren't up to snuff and most people use headsets for consoles now a days, so that was the more reliable form of communication shown from whatever focus groups they used.

How much research did you do before getting the console version?

Do you even play on Console? I can tell you now most people DONT use headsets on console. The Console Chat Box Thread has hit over 70 pages, 2k responses and over 49k views, and thats just for the minority of players that bother with the forums. And the console is far from 'not up to snuff'. Theyre more then capable of supporting a keyboard and actually have a virtual keyboard built in. Bethesda is planning on importing mods from PC to Xbox One and later PS4 once the game is released. So they cant be that far behind. Theres companies that build keyboards that you can attach to your controller for easier access. And dont try and pull that focus group crap. The Console Chat Box Thread alone is proof they didnt focus group anything. They took the lazy way out when rebuilding the game on Console.

We are not saying that it's okay, just that if you have a disability, then it may take a bit more time on your behalf to do some research into games that you are playing to make sure that they work with your disability. If the console version didn't include something that helps you out, then maybe this wasn't the game for you at this point in time.

Take some personal responsibility for not doing your research ahead of time. It is not like Zenimax kept the lack of text chat on consoles private. It was well known before the game released on consoles that it would not have that feature.

When an OP starts off by using inflammatory language, it is likely that the responses won't be the best.

For instance, if the OP had come here and said the following:

"Hello everyone,

I (or a friend of mine) am hearing-impaired. I am finding that playing this game on consoles is very tough for me without having text chat. Do you think it would be a good idea if this feature was added to the game? I know that it would help me out a lot."

If it was like that, I bet you the responses would have been full of people linking in Devs and forum mods and people telling the Developers that this is another reason why text chat should have been added from day 1.

Instead, look at what happened.

I doubt it as long as ppl are here from pc they are going to keep standing up for discrimination

Isn't there a quick chat option (or such a thing) that lets you choose certain pre-defined commands? Looks to me like they are at least trying to cater for deaf players but surely are not discriminating in any way.

PS. The OP is referring to PS4 a lot. As an XBox owner I feel deeply offended and would like to point at a certain discrimination towards Microsoft!
