Old elder scrolls features

As I'm playing eso(particularly questing in morrowind) I'm getting bits of nostalgia. as the games progressed they shed weapons spells, features and entire gameplay mechanics in the name of advancement and simplifying things. What sort of things do you miss from the old days? What do with to see them put into eso? Personally I miss spears and varied ranged weapons. I miss the journal/inventory from oblivion, and I miss daedric ruins being a source of awesome loot and adventure instead of disappointment. Interested in hearing everyone else's thoughts

    Spell Crafting.

    I know it wouldn't work in an MMO, to OP, but it was left out of Skyrim too and it was an awesome feature.

    Lack of loot.

    In every Elder Scrolls game you can loot everything even the shirt of a dead mobs back. Here I get a few coins if i'm lucky.

    Crossbows.

    I like crossbows. The only one I have is when I use Silver Shards but I could do with more ranged weapon variety.

    The loot is a big one for me as well as I mentioned with the daedric ruins. Used to be that ruins dungeons and forts always had something cool to grab or an interesting piece of lore to discover or failing that enough random crap that I used to bring everything that wasn't nailed down back to my home base for sorting. I had a save in oblivion where I was stuck in my house cos all my stuff wrecked the frame rate

    ^ LOL dedication and epicness rolled into one save file.

    Such is the give and take of this being an MMO more than an Elder Scrolls game.
    All the things you all listed would be such amazing additions, I also miss having spears and a wider assortment of weaponry at my disposal. That one seems like it might be something that could be patched in to give a better variety.

    Lack of Loot. I wish there was just a few more solo dungeon that had that daedric ruins feel to them, open dungeons and team dungeons get dry looted extremely quickly. Even for those that like to check in every little nook, there is usually just an already unlocked chest tucked back there.

    Edit: Oooooh also I really miss Silt Striders. I could imagine a few of those at random places that have routes that all link to merchants or some such.

    The Spell Crafting would be really cool, but as you said it would be easy to make it OP, and I don't know how it would fit into how ZOS have made the game. Don't expect this to ever come to ESO.

    I don't think making everything lootable is good for an MMO, the market would be pointless with you being able to just kill players and NPC for the items you want/need. Plus I don't think people will be happy in PVP when a VR16 min-maxer easily ganks you, and takes you weapon you've spent hours trying to get.

    Crossbows would make for another great ranged stamina weapon, I kinda hope they add this maybe in a future DLC. I'm picturing this weapon with high damage, with high stam cost and high cooldown time. Maybe give them in several varieties like what they're doing with the destro staff, it'd add some elemental damage to stam builds.

    I'd kinda like to see more skill lines in general across all the factions that'd remove the lock that's already in place with all the classes. Think like a restoration tree, a destruction tree, a conjuration tree, and an alteration tree available to all classes. Maybe also a religion system to allow more character depth in skill lines with exclusive skills in whichever religion you chose (Daedra, Tribunal, The Divines, ect); I made a post about the religion system HERE.

    I miss the old "levitate" spell and "Mark" and "Recall" spells from Morrowind. I get why those were removed but they were still fun and useful.

    Well, they have planned for it. And they have said it's still in the works. And if anything, the change to static non-stacking buffs they did with 1.6 would actually support the system imo. It won't be as free as in the sp games, but it will still be spellcrafting.

    I miss the ability to adjust enchantments through duration, amount of damage/heal, and the ability to make potions to make you invisible or to make you float. I also miss where you go into a hard difficulty area and actually found Dwarven Armor for your hard work. Or killing NPCs to steal their Daedric armor/weapons

    I miss making multiple trips to dwemer ruins in order to carry out every piece of dwemer metal I can find so that I can make ingots (in particular I used to do this with the dwemer ruin in Markarth until I completely cleaned it out, because it was so convenient to leave the ruin and head right to the smelter in town, and then head to my house in town to store what I smelted). I've actually been somewhat reliving this lately by farming dwemer constructs in dwemer delves for scrap. It's not quite the same, but it's been close enough to ignite my feelings of nostalgia.

    I also miss the wide variety of factions. East empire company and morag tong come to mind. The old attributes like speed and endurance. The spell variety particularly for sorcerer is depressing. Need more elemental options and different summons. Also I want to go to solstheim and get my severed Nord leg back. Most awesome blunt weapon ever

    LOL @UrQuan! A good majority of my time in Oblivion was doing just that. I fill up.... run to the store... sell all the stuff... run back. awwww... good times.

    Please go check it out. My #1 thing missing was Player Created Content: I said it before, but this is absolutely vital to the long term success of ESO.

    My #2 thing.... such a small, but integral item to the "Elder Scrolls Experience" is Torches: To be accompanied by darker environments.

    Randomly generated dungeons like in daggerfall days. Possibly rewicker that concept to a daily portal to a pocket oblivion plane with a daily procedurally generated dungeon/area.
    Due to a typo in the system, the area was accosted by the Daedric Prince Moar Lag Brawls.

    I wish they had "over encumbered" I hate having my bags full and wish I could keep looting, sure it'll be like a 30 minute walk to the merchant, but hey!

    You used to be able to. They reduced it at some point during the closed beta. I remember one of my fellow testers pointed out there was a chest in the wailing prison you could no longer reach with the new shorter jump and how it now mocked him.

    I still have the inbuilt habit of jumping as I run around, and from what I've seen a number of other people do too.

    When you see people skipping as they run around you can be sure they are "levelling" acrobatics :)

    I loved "Shouts" but I wouldn't want players using them. I would however like to see High-level Draugr using them again, lol.

    Oh, yeah, I'd love that too! The only problem is that if draugr started using shouts then you'd get a ton of players whining about how they want shouts too...

    Technically you could have shouts in game since you don't need to be Dragonborn to shout; Dragonborn just has the natural ability without extensive training to shout. But I wouldn't want it implemented in such a way that everyone was shouting, that would just devalue the ability.

    Saying this, I had a thought about Racial passives and that it'd be nice to have a Racial Ultimate? lol. However, I believe Ultimates can be used too frequently so maybe something beyond ultimate that could be race specific, like the Nords fear AoE "Battle Cry" from Skyrim that you could only use once a day(A real day for a MMO). Something unique to each race.

    Stealing clutter to decorate my hovel with.
    Unarmored skill! More options to show my tats/ bodypaint /fur and stolen npc clothing...
    Unarmed skill! This one tried to sign up for class at the Two Moons Dance temple, this one was disappointed.
    Diving and underwater world.
    "Over encumbered" instead of "inventory full", and strength or carry potions...
    Mark and recall. Almsivi/divine intervention.
    Thieves guild - I hear its coming at some point, good, good!

    One thing I definitely don't miss...cliff racers! Who doesn't remember that feeling of your blood running cold every time you heard the telltale skreeeeee
