I shadow played this video about a week ago, just running around with some friends.
THIS is the lag that players experience 4-5 (and sometimes more) times a night in Cyrodiil.
It is also not exclusive to encounters with large groups like this one, I've seen high latency and disabled skills just in very small scale as well.

Note that, I do have LUI Extended and for the duration of my time on the rock, and as you can see from my lack of combat text, I did basically no damage to anyone there. Also, I stood in 3-4 meteors, not blocking, on purpose. Nothing happened to me. Also I /sitchair for a second and didn't immediately drop dead. About 30 seconds later, the damage I had taken on the rock started to catch up.

If you're wondering, that's a total of around 40+ meteors in around a 1 minute time period.
If you run in a group that is this large, and you spam meteors nonstop, just recognize that THIS is what you are doing to your opponent. There is no honor or skill in playing this way, so please reconsider.

    This lag is unnaceptable for a ''AAA'' MMO.

    When I was playing back in the days Diablo 1 on my modem 56K, the lag was less then what we have every night in Cyrodiil in Azura Star (US).

    I can't believe the word LAG still exist 15 years later ...

    I've been hearing this for over a year so I've grown up quite a bit. Every time the community starts getting fed up and screams lag they always throw us a bone that doesn't work. I've heard "lag fixed" over and over and over. Now I'm on the side where I don't believe anything they say and would much rather be proved wrong.

    Once again, if you are part of a large guild and you start experimenting such big lag issues in your campaign, it means that your campaign is over saturated. Re-home somewhere else. And when you bring your 24men group on top of another 24men group in a max pop campaign, don't expect anything else but lag over the whole Cyrodiil penalizing everybody else. If you want to run a full large group, pick a campaign which isn't pop locked since the caps are obviously too large still to support such gameplay. Oh and stop spamming 50 billions of standards and meteors. This is getting really old.

    • Fix Volendrung (spawn location - weapon white on the map causing the wielder to keep it forever - usable with emperorship)

    I'm pretty sure those bots were not all spamming Meteor at the same time.

    I suggest some chat manners first or you cannot expect any conversation.
    Especially not with Brian.

    It doesn't matter if a player or bot triggers the AE abilities or who represents the zerg to reproduce the described behavior. Beside that fact , you only can do such tests with simulations in the first step. It doesn't mean there will never be tests with players or on PTS.

    As Brian already said it doesn't mean its cured, they are just testing a change that obviously has some positive impact.

    As already mentioned, not a year ago, so quit spreading lies or mixing up other causes for lags in the past.

    It's not just the numbers that account for lag. caltrops is a major, major culprit which doesnt get talked about nearly enough. and you have probably 20 people spamming it in these kinds of encounters

    The Interior Lighting patch.

    There are also certain players who will purposefully spam macroes that overload the PvP server with garbage actions. You can usually spot them if you only lag out (ping) within 30 meters or so of their toon. They could literally be just standing there and send local ping through the roof while the ping at say, Northern High Rock, was completely unaffected.

    Abilities are mostly an FPS issue, however, when they are spammed by enough players in a tight enough radius they'll begin to effect server ping. It doesn't matter if you have fiber optic or Comcast grade broadband, you WILL be affected if the server is overwhelmed.

    If they would walk back through the code in the Interior Lighting implementation, I bet they would find what was making everything go haywire.

    It does mean it was exclusively EP at that keep, yes. ;)

    I have seen others do it sometimes, DC has started doing it, and AD is never organized enough to do it. Some people in EP always rolls in a little zerg ball, casting AoEs to lag up the server when their keep is attacked, or they are losing an assault, it's the same people every time.

    It's no freaking secret.
