What are YOUR problems with eso

ARCH3RB13
ARCH3RB13
Just want to see what problems everyone has needs/wants, gripes and complaints.

I'll start off by saying I was disappointed when I first started playing and I couldn't pick a primary bow player, I know anyone can use a bow, but they have a ranged DPS for Magika based so where the heck are the physical ranged DPS? And just to be clear I am talking about a dedicated player for the bow, as I stated I know everyone can use the bow and I know there is a skill line for it.

So let's hear everyone elses

My #1 gripe, by FAR, is server performance. Between crashes and Cyrodil lag, in can be flat out cumbersome to try to play the game.

I'm fine with, enjoy, or can tolerate everything else.

Helpful tip for new players who happen to chance upon this: go into your settings and lower the graphics down to the absolute minimum before you enter into Cyrodil. It will make the game look bad, yes, but you do have a lower chance of crashing.

MY problems with the game? There are a couple...

    1. Grind spots become exploits, even though sometimes they are necessary.
    2. I can steal practically everything in Bleakrock once the Covenant invades. However, if some Enforcers are smart enough to get cracking if/when PvP part of Justice System comes out, then hopefully Bleakrock won't be an easy target for thieves.
    3. Finally, too many times I walk into roleplaying events. They tell me I'm breaking their immersion, even though I'm just emptying my bags/using cooking fire and then making like a tree and leave.

    That's my problem.

My gripe in ESO is VR leveling. Unless you do Cadwell's Almanac there are only so many avenues on which to level (grinding, PvP, a limited number of dungeons and trials). With VR ranks comprising of such a large amount of the game, the game itself becomes pretty stale and boring until you reach the true level cap.

Very few of the battlegrounds in the game feel like actual battlegrounds. There's just not enough contrast between sanctuaries and war zones.

One thing that personally irks me is that we have up to tens of thousands of people doing writs to send to Cyrodiil, but there are no large standing armies in Cyrodiil to actually use them. By this time, half of Cyrodill should be covered with unused supply boxes. And I don't know about you, but if even a fraction of those boxes had a pizza in it, this war would already already be over, because pizza parties are better than killing strangers.

My top list of things I want to see changed/fixed:

    1. Veteran ranks take far too long to level through, and you get to the point where there's no option other than mind-numbing grinding. Grinding should never be necessary just to progress through the levels, you should always have quest options up to the max level.

    2. Trading system is crap. Guild stores worked ok on PC, once they were populated, but probably 50% of trade was still done using zone chat/text chat. On consoles, there is no text chat, it's nearly impossible to find buyers for anything you're selling or to find sellers for anything you need to buy, and the ZOS-nazis keep shutting down trade threads instead of creating a proper trading forum for consoles or fixing the root of the problem.

    3. Aesthetics/Customization. We're over a year into the game now, and even longer since the first beta slots opened up, yet we still have no barbershop/character recustomization feature, we still cant dye weapons or shields, we still cant pick from lower level armor models to use on higher level armor (because, let's face it, armor gets uglier and uglier as you level up), we dont have any way to customize our mount appearance/mount armor to match our own, the list goes on and on. These are features that are typically baseline in other MMO's, they shouldnt be something that players are still having to ask for a year+ into the game.

    4. PvP still focuses too much on zergballs/wrecking balls. Siege warfare is great, castle-based warfare is great, huge pvp zones are great, but it all means nothing when 40 players cram together into the space of a single character model and run around blasting everything instantly with aoe spells. There are numerous solutions to this problem: first and foremost are the complete removal of AOE caps: if my spell can hit 40 people and do the same amount of damage to all of them, it really discourages them from clumping together. When my spell can only hit 5 or 6 people, or does significantly less damage when there's more targets than that, they're encouraged to cram together.
Adding Player collision would also help this situation greatly. Imagine if (in cyrodiil only), a line of tanky characters could prevent enemies from moving through them. Coordination would allow a group of players to line up shoulder to shoulder and stop the enemy from getting to their healers/archers/casters. You could also coordinate your group to trap or block in an enemy force, preventing their retreat.

    5. Crafting vs Rewarded gear. As a master crafter (50 blacksmithing, 50 woodworking, 50 clothing, all motifs and 6-7 researched traits in all item types), I feel relatively useless when it comes to endgame gear. Only a few crafted sets are worthwhile, and those are the 4-6 trait sets. The 8/9 trait sets are mostly useless, and what few good sets I can craft are quite often out-performed by sets that are received as drops or pvp/dungeon rewards. It also takes a ridiculous amount of materials to upgrade an item to epic or legendary, while deconstructing that item only gives a max of a single upgrade material back.
The whole crafting system, as it stands, is a mess. There's not enough ability for customization, there's not enough value to make it worth using over dropped gear, there's no good outlet because of the poor trade system to profit from crafting. I've dumped hundreds of thousands of gold into crafting and havent seen even a break even return from selling gear or traits.
Also, with the latest motifs requiring extremely hard to get style materials (dwemer frames, and soon malachite shards / charcoal), on top of splitting those motifs into a dozen different parts to make it even more tedious to acquire, it feels like Zenimax is just taking a huge steaming dump on the crafters in this game.

Yeah its not a great one :/ . But it depends on what you want sacrifice: the graphics or the crashes. It is so unfortunate most of us can't have both. :'(

This is it for me also. The fact that the server lag can get so bad that you can't cast spells, block, or fight in anyway at times is a huge joke. The rubber banding that goes on as well sucks.

I think some addons might have something to do with crashes. I just wish they'd do something about the vanilla UI so I didn't feel like I needed to use them.

My biggest issue is... Other players.

Thats weird to say.. in a MMO.

But i always feel like im waiting... or rushing. to get things done.

I get ready for an epic fight.. Get there and the boss dies in seconds.

Doing an objective.. Someone else snatches it and i have to wait for it respawn.

Everything feels grindy. I know I used to complain about that with VR levels, but it was better IMO when it was at least harder, because then it just felt like a long path more than just a grindy one. Now, it is so easy, I feel like I am just going through the motions and it is not fun, when I find PvE stuff to get stale after a while anyway.

Champion Points make it even more so, as there is no longer that time where I finished the most recent VR levels and do not feel the need to grind out any more, and for my main character, quests to run are slim to break it up even at a slightly slower pace of gain.

You can take this to about anything in game like crafting or your horse skills or whatever. Easy and un-engaging with what feels like literally nothing but a time gate.

On xbox one my biggest issue is frame rate. I wouldn't mind a few graphic options to lower the quality but improve the frame rate. Sometimes I get a little nauseous if it stutters too much.

Other little issues are controller key-map options are limited. Auto joining area chat when I left it already. It should keep my last choice. Yes, I turned the player voice volume off and disabled the kinect for audio. Ability timers needed for skills without graphical ques. Defensive posture only shows a graphic for activating it. It's really hard to keep track if you reflected an attack or not.

    Where do I start:
    • How about making the game a 64bit application, a 32bit game in this day and age is ridiculous.
    • The grass just looks like a 2D sprite that's always looking at me, even on the highest graphics, once noticed I cannot un-notice this. It's very immersion breaking.
    • The champion point system is easily exploitable, and the dedicated min-maxers are leaving everyone behind. There are people with thousands of CPs already, how are new players supposed to catch up. This makes PVP pointless in vet campaigns.
    • There is no dueling system to battle your friends in your own, or other factions.
    • The "play how you want to play" system is broken as their are classes which restrict skill tree access.
    • Their is a vamp/warewolf racket currently taking place in ESO where players buy bites and/or gold on ebay; not to mention the 3-20K gold charge in game for bites (depends on who you talk to)
    • The crown store should be cosmetic goods only now you're adding pay-to-cheat/pay-to-win options as well.
    • The anchors seem to be there for the sake of content, they have little effect on the world; there is no consequence if I just walk away, it'll disappear soon with no harm done.
    • The female character models and clothing (appearance section) for all genders don't look that great, hire a fashion designer or even better get the community to come up with concepts. Maybe sell them in the store.
    • How about having controller support for PC, with the console UI with keyboard & mouse along with controller.
    • You cannot play with other faction members even during Cadwells silver/gold; how about making those areas more populated, this is an MMO isn't it.

    Lack of identity.
A year later and it's hard to tell what this game really is: A single player game with other people running around and a few chances to group? Or, a MMO with little to no social backbone and a lot of soloable content? PC has done a slightly better job with the social communication because it has text chat, but console feels very "alone." Everyone turns off the open voice chat as soon as they log in and that cuts off the feeling of the game being a MMO.

Part of this identity crisis is the PVE/PVP.
To level up, the game has plenty of PVE content, but at the endgame it seems to be PVP-Cyrodil focused given the huge RvR split (the other end of the spectrum is the PVPers that don't want to wade through all the PVE to get to a competitive end cap). Craglorn is hard to get a group for because people would rather grind away to get those last vet levels. The Undaunted pledges helped a little, but it's only a short matter of time before you feel the burnout doing the same stuff daily. Trials are there if you're into raiding type endgame, but I know many (myself included) who are burnt out on the whole "raid sign up, must be this class build, must be able to devote X amount of time to learn this trial, etc." So Cyrodil is endgame that never really ends? The tweaks and nerfs that spawn from PVP imbalance changes the PVE mechanics to a point of making certain abilities useless. Why is there not a toggle so I can change from a PVP build/gear to a PVE build/gear? This one size fits all, but doesn't really fit anyway is annoying.

I really enjoy this game and I continue to play and support it, but it seems that in its attempt to be "different" it just alienates itself from being something solid.

The opaque combat system is my problem.

With every other Elder Scrolls game you could easily figure out what contributed to min/maxing your attacks and defense. Part of the problem is group effects but even without those I have no idea if putting a point in health or stamina would be better. Should I make my greatsword with a bonus to enchant strength or sharpened? Or maybe faster cooldown? WTF helps me beat the monsters, I honestly don't have a clue. And if I pick a morph or attribute and don't like it the only option I have is to spend thousands of gold and reset every attribute or skill progression and re-apply them all manually. Nuke and repave is a lame cop out in their UI. Give me an option to undo one skill morph, or reset one attribute point. That's all I probably want, an "I regret that choice" button. The permanency of MMO is based on server side retention of data. But it can be mitigated with good client side UI.

The fact that when that doesn't happen nothing much happens most of the time.
Lack of small scale pvp arenas for those not overly enthusiastic about low quality equestrian simulators.

Lack of PVE content to make up for the abysmal state of the PVP.

The entire balancing approach taken by ZOS. They only know four types of adjustments:
-remove something completely instead of gradually tweaking it.
-raise or lower by 50% instead of gradually tweaking it.
    -add stealth GCD

Their choice to change certain class skills morphs completely to stamina instead of giving an option to chose what you want. .
