Too many entitled gamers lately, wanting good content but not wanting to pay for it. You are all OLD GUARD if you are opposed to the crown store but not to a monthly sub with paid DLC. Whatever gets them their money is fine by me, especially when they are not going pay to win at all.

Your paid sub is like cable; you pay for a subscription and get whatever they feel like putting out. Sure, people will cancel if they are unhappy with the service for long enough, but there's no real guarantee that you're paying for content. They can take their time on DLC, since many people will pay subs and level their mains/alts to max. With DLC you are buying content, and they are incentivized to both regularly make content and to make high quality content that will sell well. You can essentially put out good content as fast as people can play it, and you will make more money with more content (not so with a sub, especially if you make your new content very grindy).

I personally would never have bought the game if it did not release on console, and I would never have bought it if it had a monthly sub. I have a feeling that there are a lot of people like me out there. All I see on here is doom and gloom from PC players, but honestly a lot of the complaining here is about stuff that is better for everyone in the end.

This is definitely going to be one of the top ten posts made on the official ESO forums this entire year. WELL SAID! :)

Signed, MMORPG player since Everquest 1 launched and MUDs before that.

Cable is a terrible analogy. When you sub to cable you pay a certain amount for the package which has the channels you want. Those channels all have various series that arrive exactly when they're advertised to. In the case of established franchises, you get another installment at regularly scheduled intervals. There is also the fact that Cable is struggling to remain relevant when you can sub instead to something like Netflix or Hulu and get exactly what you expect to pay for, also on a regular and consistent release schedule. I only wish this game worked more like cable.

I do prefer buying DLC over being required to pay a sub fee, that I can agree with but I genuinely think they made a mistake charging for Imperial City at all, this should have been part of the core game imo and because it is not I will be voting with my wallet and not purchasing it just as I haven't bought any crowns in their silly crown store either. We will have to wait and see if Orsinium manages to tempt me, but judging by the fact we won't get IC until end of august, I would be surprised if we see orisinium before October/November at which point I may have well been tempted away by another "cable provider".

If ZOS makes more on their $30 ice horse than they do on a $25 content release, guess what ZOS is going to focus more resources on?

Speak with your wallet! BUY IMPERIAL CITY!
    Sorry, but no.

So far, my concerns about the game haven't been addressed, regarding PvE play. I'm not spending one red cent on a game requiring me to PvP a way through it because I can't stand PvP.

I've already lost Cyrodiil access. I won't lose it again after buying the DLC.

I'd rather spend 2500 crowns on a Senche-Tiger mount. At least then, I can appreciate my spent money because how cool would it be to ride around Tamriel on a tiger!!!

So let them focus their resource on mounts. I'm cool with that.

Frankly, that being able to lose those stones, plus the risk of having to fight through pvp content to get there is probably enough to keep me from buying this one. If they want me to buy it, they need to allow me to access the pve content without all that nonsense.

I may or may not try testing on PTS. Having some health issues right now that prevent me from being able to concentrate on playing.

I did make some purchases and discovered that if I want that content on both NA and EU servers I have to pay twice. I am not happy about that either. It feels like everytime I do that I'm being taken advantage of. That feels pretty darn horrible. It's probably legal. It is not ethical.

Like I've told others, you're free to send that message. It does however mean that that of us who would prefer playable story driven and mechanics driven content over mounts and costumes need to speak that much more loudly with our wallets!

I do agree that they're being mechanics in place that prevents us from going to the IC seems weird since we have to pay for the DLC...

There is also supposed to be FREE content updated every few weeks available to everyone. That I am still waiting for.

I think that depends on what you mean by content. Update 7 includes a lot of stuff that you don't have to buy IC to get access to. Like the cap increase, and mats, and ability balance. All of that takes dev resources and is considered content. Now that might not be worth much to some people, but it's still content and it's free.

I don't see how either purchase is sending a different message. To be honest, both messages say the same thing: "I support what ZoS is doing. Here is my money."

DLC is going to take more time to make, obviously, but this shouldn't come down to an "either/or" situation. If players spend $1,000,000 on Crown purchases, and only $800,000 on DLC (examples only), this isn't going to deliver a message "Stop making DLC" to anyone.

ZoS is looking at this game as a long term investment. One day, it will eventually die, but until then, giving people what they want is ultimately the best course of action.

I will be holding off on this until it is actually released to see how the Tel Var system works. If it is actually functional and allows player to have fun I will purchase; however, if it turns into a gank, griefer fest than I will not purchase it.

A new mount <skin> takes, maybe, 3 developers about a week to make? Super cost efficient and sells a lot. It's not gonna stop.

I know it's not going to stop, but we need to show ZOS we want THIS content more. That's why I'm urging people, all people, to buy!

I agree with the premise of your thread in theory but in practice I have little interest in 2 more vet levels that don't have actual leveling content to go with it and being forced into a PvP meat grinder to scavenge for upgrade tokens while getting ganked. I wish this was DLC I was interested in so I could support it but this isn't it.

Maybe 2016 will bring actual content to the game but that's pretty far away and that will be like a year and a half since the last PvE content update. A ridiculously long time to wait for new content so I doubt what little interest I have left will still be there next year. GG ZOS.

I'm not a regular player. Just giving it a second go at the moment cos a friend wants to try it. Reading the DLC announcement I came away with a similar impression to Ballzz.

I'm sure there are some people - particularly the pvp crowd - who will love it. But it doesn't particularly appeal to me.

I fully agree with the OP.

Honestly, say what you want, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I consider anyone who purchased that ice horse a chump, a real sucker. It cost half the price of the standard game for a single horse texture and some particle effects.

I don't mind spending money and supporting a game. I'm generally subbing to multiple MMO's at any one time, as well as purchasing REASONABLY priced cosmetic/convenience items. But Zenimax can forget earning any money from me with pricing like I've seen in the crown shop.

And it's like a slap in the face to subscribers when they bring out those limited time items like that jaguar senche. They're already subbing 15 bucks a month. Zenimax is purposefully trying to wring more money out of them by not allowing them time to save sub earned crowns for the item. I quit subbing. I was feeling like a sucker myself for doing so.

I still play because it's not Pay-to-Win (yet). But until Zenimax either comes out with more items that are actually worth what they're asking (like Imperial City DLC), or works on their pricing, I don't see myself putting much more money into this game. And I honestly don't expect it to change. There's just too many suckers out there, and too many kids with access to their parent's credit cards.

I don't carry a wallet, so I won't be able to do that, trololololol.

The crown store pricing is pretty standard. They're set like that because people are willing to spend the money.

The majority of the gaming population arnt penniless children.

$25 for the Imperial City DLC is fine. You can buy a cosmetic helmet in the WoW cash shop for that much.
