Ok. So Imperial City is on is way. This is the kind of content we want. ACTUAL content. We need to show Zenimax that THIS is the MOST profitable way to make money with ESO. I urge everyone, sub or no sub, to buy Imperial City. If ZOS makes more on their $30 ice horse than they do on a $25 content release, guess what ZOS is going to focus more resources on?

Speak with your wallet! BUY IMPERIAL CITY!

I think that the Imperial City pricing was set purposely below the number of Crowns that we got for subbing while there was no substantially new content.

I could care less about a frosty horse, a guar mount or anything else that was in the store so I voted with my wallet and kept my crowns for the update. Now THAT is what I want.

There is also supposed to be FREE content updated every few weeks available to everyone. That I am still waiting for.

Not sure what you mean by free content. I recall it being mentioned that bug fixes and game systems being free still, not content. Maybe I missed something.

[EDIT] I also expected a Gidorick-made thread to have a MUCH longer OP actually.. hehe.

I never get how people come up with pricing on things..A mount.. 1 model/texture/rig/animation and minor coding. $30
One new zone Tons of models/textures/animations + dungeons, way more coding... development cost way more...$25

Just doesn't make any since to me really

By comparision of actual development cost if going based on the imperial city being $25..The mount should be like 50 cents or less

The only "Free" content that was ever promised was back when the game was still Pay to Play. Everything was covered under the monthly subscription, which it still is. Nothing changed in that regards.

They can't base all DLC sales off this first one. It isn't bringing in new zones at all, it's just opening up one within an existing zone. They will have much higher sales when they add whole new zones like Wrothgar. They will probly have triple the sales for actual new zone content.

I plan on subbing now. Getting the 4.5k crowns for the next 3 months, play IC as a subscriber, unsubbing, then buy IC with crowns and then wait for the next DLC to sub again. :sunglasses:

They are going after two different markets, really. I hate to use this analogy, but take this as being like a really good steakhouse versus McDonald's. The steakhouse will get fewer customers, but will charge more per steak . Meanwhile, McDonald's will get a ton of people in there, but won't make much per burger.

Likewise here, you put out the $30 horse, and expect to only make a few sales off of your whales. Meanwhile, you put out actual content at $25 but expect to sell a lot more of them. You make up the profit by selling in bulk versus by jacking up the price.

Also, you have the fact that after waiting a year for content, if they had tried to sell it for much more, you'd have probably had a riot on your hands.

I want to play in a fair environment. Had they kept it so, I'd still be subscribed. But they decided to sell stats for cash. I'm not going to fund that business.

Their model has changed @Merlight. Yea. It sucks that it did but it did. There's no sense in wishing that it was the way it was. If you remain subbed, you'll still get that fair experience. If everyone was subbed we'd all have access to IC for no additional money.

Out of the possible options we have now, what's the best scenario? More zones and story? More flashy mounts? More XP scrolls?

If we don't ever buy anything, the message is "ESO isn't worth the effort".... and ESO will die. :disappointed:

If that is the message you want to send, by all means, send that message. Me? I'm going to be telling ZOS, YES! I want more of THIS!

I've been unsubbed for 3 months. I've not spent $45 on ESO. Even if I buy a 5500 pack of crowns, I'm still in the black!

I'll vote with mine and probably buy it before my character is of the level where I can use it.

Too many entitled gamers lately, wanting good content but not wanting to pay for it. You are all OLD GUARD if you are opposed to the crown store but not to a monthly sub with paid DLC. Whatever gets them their money is fine by me, especially when they are not going pay to win at all.

Your paid sub is like cable; you pay for a subscription and get whatever they feel like putting out. Sure, people will cancel if they are unhappy with the service for long enough, but there's no real guarantee that you're paying for content. They can take their time on DLC, since many people will pay subs and level their mains/alts to max. With DLC you are buying content, and they are incentivized to both regularly make content and to make high quality content that will sell well. You can essentially put out good content as fast as people can play it, and you will make more money with more content (not so with a sub, especially if you make your new content very grindy).

I personally would never have bought the game if it did not release on console, and I would never have bought it if it had a monthly sub. I have a feeling that there are a lot of people like me out there. All I see on here is doom and gloom from PC players, but honestly a lot of the complaining here is about stuff that is better for everyone in the end.

$18.18 worth of crowns for a few new dungeons, gigantic new pvp expansion area, new set items and gameplay mechanics, etc. after dropping the previously mandatory fifteen dollars a month subscription? It'll have been six months almost by the time we have to pay eighteen bucks just once and only if the package interests people. 100% more than fair. If you don't like pvp enough to justify it to yourself then buy the next one which should be the pve focused orsinium. All of the items here can be traded for, anyways, and v16 is part of the base game.
