If you want to know who a player is, view profile them. That easy.
"Ok so 1 game does it, so every game should now. I mean, when you would pick your name in skyrim or oblivion, how often would you notice that name? I don't feel like coming up with some unique name for every game I play. I already did that, it's my gamertag. And how many variations of the same name would you see running around? I think it's a you problem if you're running around and see xxKillingEveryOnexx instead of xxConan123xx and that kicks you out of being immersed in the game
lmao, you ever play an MMO before ESO, son? All MMOs do this. Very very few use usernames, in fact ESO is the only MMO I know that uses account user names to identify players rather than the characters original name.
That is how the names are displayed on the PS4. I believe the Xbox shows the GamerTag so it's pretty much the same in that regard.

They argue for immersion and remove valuable information like how much health and damage you and enemies have ( Did that kill it? No? Better hit it again with something). Then they take away text chat and give us music playing and parents/spouses talking instead. Yeah, that's immersive. The PSN ID/Gamertag thing is completely expected at this point. Add-ons saved the PC version from most of these mistakes. What will save the console versions? Don't worry, I'm sure ZoS has it on their 'Soon' list, right behind the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Wrothgar which were placed on it over a year ago. Honestly, what were they working on for the last year?

People claim there's a post or something from Zenimax stating it was out of their control on the xbox due to the way microsoft rely on account names for purchases or something. Doesn't explain the way other games get around it if that is true. If other games can do it, why can't Zenimax?
