Radiant Destruction suggestion: Templar CC skill?

Templars don't have a lot of CC, and while they used to have Flashes, that skill got replaced by Radiant Destruction (partially because ZOS wanted to remove the "Miss chance" effect).
With this Templars no longer have a group CC tool to their disposal, making certain fights fairly hard.
For this i would like to make a suggestion, focused on the Radiant Destruction skill.

Radiant Destruction:
  • Remove the damage this skill does (No longer a Damage skill or Finisher).
  • Turn it into an "aimed channel toggle"
  • Aim the skill (Range same as current RD), toggle it and channel the effect on the selected area.
  • The selected area (around the size of Rune Focus) will have the Immobilize effect you also see on Dark Talons (DK).
  • The Immobilize will only last for 0.5 seconds, but will be renewed every 0.5 as long as the Templar keeps channeling the skill.
  • Cost: Around 3-4K (without Cost reductions) for activating the skill, as well as 10% of the initial cost every 0.5 seconds the skill is being channeled.

Radiant Glory:
  • Added effect: Remove the slow moving effect you normally have while channeling a skill.

Radiant Oppression
  • Added effect: Will deal damage to enemies inside the effected area.
  • Damage will be the same as the current Radiant Destruction (every 0.5 seconds), without the "Execute" bonus damage (regardless of the HP of the enemy).

Blinding Flashes was nice but hardly essential. it was always a nifty extra rather than something people relied on.

That said, Templars do lack any form of AoE CC... But leave Radiant Destruction alone, it's pretty much the only reason Magicka Templars aren't completely worthless. Give Solar Barrage or a Spear Shard morph AoE CC instead.

No matter what they will do with templars in 1.7 but if they won't add aoe cc or root capability - it will be fail.

Should really just leave the Templar blazing shield alone... then wouldnt need CC

BS is already pretty weak as it is. It actually needs buffed

Oh and as always, Jabs needs the CC immunity removed from it, 5 second immunity for a .5 second knock-back is totally broken

Want to see players in Cyrodiil cry? Hit them with Radiant Destruction, immediately followed by Soul Assault, then another Radiant Destruction.

While I haven't done any major digging into all the classes I assume most of them have SOMETHING that they don't have within their abilities:
Sorcerers not having a basic damage ability to use when not using any other ability.
Nightblades even if several of their abilities have minor heals, they have no "oh ***" panic ability beyond hoping they kill someone they have use Mark Target on.

Things like that, the good thing here, is that weaknesses you class has, can usually be made up in weapon abilities, Guild abilities, stuff like that, magicka sorcs pick up Force Shock from the Destruction Staff to be their basic damage ability, Nightblades I have seen usually pick something up from the resto staff tree.

But I can't really think up any CC's that effect multiple enemies like this with the other abilities, so I think one of them should be changed or added rather then messing with already established class skills.

I know its ALREADY happened but still, I feel like class specific abilities shouldn't be totally replaced unless they are truly broken, balancing is all well and good, but taking a skill that does one thing and replacing it with one that does something completely new seems kinda messy.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any points.

I had expected some opposition, though not to this extend.
Some people love it, though it gets a lot of hate at the same time.
Personally i don't like it much. It has its uses, but for most normal gameplay i find it lacking (especially the Radiant Glory Morph).

Lets throw it another way, with another skill.

    Spear Shards:
    • Remove the damage this skill does.
    • Turn it into an "aimed channel toggle"
    • Aim the skill (Range around 25-28M), toggle it and channel the effect on the selected area.
    • Has a synergy which restores 10% of the user's max Stamina and X stamina over 10 seconds.
(Since it renews every 0.5 seconds this Synergy can be used multiple times, hence the lower percentage boost)

    Luminous Shards:
    • Added effect: Has a synergy which restores 10% of the user's max Stamina and X stamina and Magicka over 10 seconds.

    Blazing Spear:
    • Added effect: Will deal damage to enemies inside the effected area.
    • Damage will be half the current DoT damage of Blazing Spear (but every 0.5 seconds).

Why do you seem hell-bent on ruining actually useful Templar skills? Spear Shards/Blazing Spear is the other reason why Magicka Templars aren't worthless, we have one of the best, ranged AoEs in the game... take away Radiant and our single target DPS plomps, take away Spear and our AoE DPS dies.

I'd rather they just remove Radiant Destruction completely. Perhaps place a 50% cost increase on it each spam. You know, the usual ZoS fix.

Not hellbent on ruining anything. Just simple observation of skills and pulling conclusions.

Blazing Spear DPS potential comes mostly from the Burning Light proc.
My (second) suggestion kept the skill's own DPS as it is. Dealing 50% less damage but hitting twice as fast.
    - Because it hits twice as often your Burning light proc will be twice as common.
    - Since "Dark Talons" is a soft CC it won't provide CC immunity.
    - No CC Immunity means that the skill can be kept active, locking enemies inside the zone where the damage is dealt.
    - Unless the user runs out of magicka or is interrupted it can be kept going.

The first two are basically improved versions of the current skill.
    - You still have to aim (Same as the current version)
    - It will stop the enemy (Same as the current version)
    - You will be able to CC a group with it (Improvement)
    - Players can't CC break it and gain a 5 second CC immunity (Improvement)
    - Still gives back resources (though less), but you won't have to recast it for a player to gain the effect for a second time.

Although the Templar him/her self won't be able to do much while channeling, it will provide a lot of support and sustain for allies (and if you actually want to fight with it you just take the Blazing spear morph, and get the same AOE damage as you do now with it).

Compare changes to other classes since launch to changes to Templars. We have been nerfed time and again. On top of half our skills being worthless, or flat broken, we finally gave us one that was worth a crap. They couldn't even get it right and made it so over powered it received a nerf rather soon™ for ZOS. Then people still complained. More nerf. And some.

ZOS, do your self a favor and just eliminate the class and give us Templars a reroll. It's not like your doing anything else soon™.

first off, flashes was replaced by destruction because Zos felt the miss chance was to OP (to bad since it was very nice for tanks/pvp) and secondly to give magica templars an execute
and u want to remove the execute again...

I say update blazing spear, to stun/dissorient all targets in the area (its only a small area)

Edit: to your idea making spear shard channeled, pls no, you cant do anything else, channel skills lock u into them, thats not helpfull, a dk has to press a button to root and can keep on dpsíng

secondly, this topic might be insigtfull.... ( :p )
