When you complete Cadwell's Gold should you have the option to change faction?

I do not think faction change should be allowed. You made your choice when creating your character. This would end up allowing one faction to completely and always dominate as whoever is losing would switch to the winning faction thus putting balance even further from reach than it already is.

Yes, I want to have the choice after gold to change my faction.
I wouldn't be against a faction change after completing Cadwell's Gold... but only one, and if you use it/reject to use it, that's it. One chance and one only.
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

now thinking more about this...How hard would it be for them to let us change factions?

    Suppose you are DC....
you do the main questline and all DC quest
    .you get to level v1
start silver work you way through AD
start gold and work you way though EP

at the end Cadwell tells you can change your faction (or some npc)

    You chose AD.....

Now do you get to do all the quests over again in the game (but main questline) since EP, AD and Dc are all now different levels?

AD was level v1 but now it is level 1. EP is now level v1 and DC area is v10.

This is too hard to ask for?

I like the idea of this option, and have thought about it. Based on the game alone, I would join AD because the quests, characters and lands were my favorite (but I freely admit to having a star-crush on Kate Beckinsale, so, I realize I'm biased). However, I would never abandon my DC PVP guild brothers and sisters and defect to the other side!

I said no because I don't like the Cadwell Gold and Silver. My character is a loyal member of the pact I don't want to be forced to assist other factions, I don't want to discuss things with people I know are dead and I don't want to constantly be told I have no soul even though I got it back.

Cadwell gold and silver were just a cheap way to get me to force me through the same content

When implementing a faction change in a game that includes PvP, of course there is going to be legitimate concern over faction population balance. But that is why most games put in restrictions. This particular poll however suggests a one-time-only limit, which seems strict enough. So long as they don't do something like add faction change in the cash shop, I think the presented suggestion of putting it behind cadwell's gold is a fine way to implement faction changes (if at all).

I would like it to be more that you haven't chosen a faction prior to completing Gold.

I think I'd prefer the option to be able to enter any of the regular quest zones scaled to VR10 (or higher). It would provide some incentive to go back and explore for things I may have missed.

I've thought about this a bit and I'm really liking the idea of switching factions ESPECIALLY if Cadwell’s is changed to be more like you're helping the other factions and not that it'san alternate reality.

    My current thought is this....
Once you help all 3 factions and you defeat Molag Bal, you have the opportunity to to change allegiance. Depending on your choice, you are given the title Loyalist, Defector, or Sovereign. You then receive faction bonuses based on whether or not your original faction is doing well, your original faction is NOT doing well, or is the faction war is balanced.

Sovereign soldiers are allied with no faction and work towards a balance in the war.

I only voted Yes because I am loyal to the Queen, but my better half chose the covenant back in the day! Blasphemy! Therefore I would like the possibility to convert him :naughty:

even if they change gold/silver i still suggest we get a chance to change factions.

*oh sorry didnt write how they could change it
They could make it that you no longer need to do silver to get to gold. It be just a matter of what you handle by level. Meaning if you DC you could do Rifften at level v1 if you think you could do it.

I remember seeing a thread or two with the "I play -faction- but my fiends/spouse/sister/cousin/whatever plays -other faction-, and I don't have enough time or nerve to make and level up an alt..." theme before. It would be a very good reason for the option to appear someday I'd say... either to follow someone, or to lure them to your side... ;)

As for silver/gold as prerequesite or not... changing factions messes with questlines, so it would make a lot of sense to unlock that feature only after cadwells.
I mean... consider this, say you are DC and want to get away (and who wouldn't... J/K  ), you play all the DC quests until you go to coldharbour, then switch to AD, finish the mainstory... and with AD, you now get cadwells silver in EP and cadwells gold in... DC! How are you going to do with the AD quests? Go back as veteran rank and do them all? Doesn't sound like fun. And what about the cadwells gold quests, you already did all those from 3-45 back when you still were DC? reset and do them twice? Nah, some give skill points, can't give them twice. But then, how can you finish cadwells gold now? Set it all as "already done" and miss out on the XP?
Thus... any possible facion change is best done when you are finished with cadwells altogether, that way you have been in all regions, have done all the story quests at least, no sweat. Only the occasional missed sidequest may still be open, and hey, if you do those at huge level difference, who really cares? And it -would- make a better reward for playing through all that then a piece of vendor-trash gear...

Well, we have alts specifically for when we want to play together (on AD of course! ), so for us it has nothing to do with not wanting to create new alts and level them up, but I know not all people are alt-o-holics .
We just often talk about how fun it would be for our mains to meet - peacefully. (We would be satisfied if they just added the possibility to do Group Dungeons cross-faction or make an All Faction PvE area.)

But yeah, if it were to be a thing, it should definitely only be available after Cadwell's Gold, and it should only be a one time offer. It also makes the most sense story-wise. Making the final decision of which faction to support should only be available after experiencing all three.

It's actually this kind of thinking that is hard to get away from in the current system(although they can monitor PvP faction populations to keep some balance), I guess. This is one reason, albeit a smaller one, that I feel that it was a bad idea to have PvP Faction choice so forced up on you in character creation. I'd much rather have just joined a faction in-game(similar to how you join the Fighters and Mages Guilds) when I felt I wanted to do PvP. This idea is based on the entire DC/EP/AD being one area where we can all interact with each other instead of three separate instances though.

id say that after competing it once you should be able to skip it but get credit on any alt there after (And the skill points with all those quests)

Sure, put it in, but somehow I think they'll be no decrease in the number of threads about wanting to change faction (again) or how it's unfair you have to complete Cadwell's Gold to switch factions. Whingers gotta whinge.

I can't support this. IMO it's a complete immersion destroying idea. After Cadwell's Gold I run around under the Eagle Banner with the words 'Pact Hero' under my name? Why..? Doesn't make any sense at all. As a fan of RP I strongly oppose Race, Alliance and Class changes.
