This would help guilds with people from different factions to all get on the same page.

They should have recruited only from their own faction if this is a problem.
I do not think faction change should be allowed. You made your choice when creating your character. This would end up allowing one faction to completely and always dominate as whoever is losing would switch to the winning faction thus putting balance even further from reach than it already is.
I remember seeing a thread or two with the "I play -faction- but my fiends/spouse/sister/cousin/whatever plays -other faction-, and I don't have enough time or nerve to make and level up an alt..." theme before. It would be a very good reason for the option to appear someday I'd say... either to follow someone, or to lure them to your side...I only voted Yes because I am loyal to the Queen, but my better half chose the covenant back in the day! Blasphemy! Therefore I would like the possibility to convert him

It's actually this kind of thinking that is hard to get away from in the current system(although they can monitor PvP faction populations to keep some balance), I guess. This is one reason, albeit a smaller one, that I feel that it was a bad idea to have PvP Faction choice so forced up on you in character creation. I'd much rather have just joined a faction in-game(similar to how you join the Fighters and Mages Guilds) when I felt I wanted to do PvP. This idea is based on the entire DC/EP/AD being one area where we can all interact with each other instead of three separate instances though.
