Basically after seeing through the eyes of your enemies you decide that your faction it not as great as you thought. You want to change to another faction. It be only a 1 time deal.

Yes. would help with PvP population imbalances without forcing people to regrind through this droll story. Also it gives incentive to actually get through silver and gold rather than just grinding from dawn til dusk.

Because choices matter, and immersion cultists want everyone to play the same way they do.

That is the long and short of it. Immersion is great, until you feel someone else shouldn't have choices in how they play
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Yes! I think that's a brilliant idea. I joined the Dominion to play with my friends and well they're gone now, and I really don't want to create a whole new character and do everything all over again just to change my faction.

heck want to do it as a silver option why wait for gold?

Better yet make it a crown store buy so I don't have to wait that long.

I'd rather say the opposite. If a faction has more keeps thus more bonuses, people will change to said faction to have those bonuses, giving no chance to other faction that will then be overwhelmed.

Their first must have a good solution to prevent population imbalance such as higher AP/CP gain or such thing to encourage pvp when you are in minority.

DAoC was very good at it as a little group of good players was able to slaughter outnumbering ennemies and thus gain many realm points (similar to AP).

AGREED! I like the idea of getting the option after completing Cadwell's silver/gold (1-time free faction change) and then have to buy it through crown store if you want to do it again.

Yes, it would make the slog through Cadwell's Silver and Gold actually mean something. Besides, the reward for Cadwell's Silver and Gold is currently pathetic, an enormous anti-climax. This would go some way to addressing that.

I feel the choice should need to be made upon completion of Cadwell's Gold and time limited - not something a player can just sit on to faction hop at their convenience. So, once you complete Gold, Cadwell asks the question and your decision is final.

That said, I wouldn't change faction myself, I'm happy with my choice.

It just amazes me when people vote down allowing other players to have a CHOICE. We supposedly live in a free country (for those in the USA), but so many people here would rather live with fewer choices than more and yet they call that... freedom. I would always support giving players more choices than less, but ONLY if those options didn't impact other players. In this particular case, this is a personal choice that doesn't affect anyone else but the player themselves, so why don't you want that player to have a choice?!?

If it's only a one time deal I wouldn't have an issue with it at all. The problem with changing factions only exists if it's an option you have all the time.

To lore people; it would make sense after completing quests for anothe faction hat you choose to side with them for perhaps you found their morals more so correct than your current faction.

To PvP people; if a player could only change once then it wouldn't much matter. As you wouldn't have to fear people joining the more powerful factions all the time. Most people who want to do that just make new characters now anywys.

To PvE people; I don't think it really matters.

For PVE it matters to some. Right now I am at the point I do not know what to do with Ep and AD people. We are a DC guild and somehow they got into ours. They love the guild..>They love the guild talk and guild website...I about to ask them to roll DC toons...I rather them have the option to change faction if they want to.

Yes. Rid the game of Veteran Ranks and zones. Cadwell could essentially offer the chance to defect to another alliance after completing your first one. There could be a repeatable quest with a cool down timer to prevent alliance hopping or a high gold cost.

You would have to have a grace period after switching of course; 30+ days or something, which would be fine. This game would be so much better if everyone could play with everyone else! But then something something megaservers dead, idk. Maybe they'd have to make serious server changes for us to be allowed to play with the entire community and not one third.

I don't like that faction choice determines who you play with so drastically. In my opinion it should only determine which part of Cyrodiil you are more safer in.

If you had a one time choice after finishing silver and gold, it's really not going to effect PVP very noticeably imo. If it did, it would be temporary. I don't think very many actually read the OP fully, or comprehension took an arrow to the knee :D

I voted Yes, because I always support giving players more choice - as that is what keeps players playing.

From a purely story point of view I'd have chosen No.

Wonder how differently people would feel if this were the reward at the end of Gold, instead of the infamous necklace.

Personally would not swap, but would be an interesting opportunity to consider. After experiencing all three alliances Meridia cements you to just one of the realities.

Won't happen now that they can make a cash shop item for it instead though.

I would like to see the option in the game...

Imagine, after completing cadwells gold (which incidentally resolved the trouble with fraction questline changes when switching) there is an option to talk to some NPC to start a "loyalty under suspiscion" questline... and early on, you get to make a fateful decision - do you prove your faction loyalty even when your allies are no longer standing by you, or do you leave and defect to some other faction? And the questline continues one way or another, depending on your choice, spanning several maps and mini-dungeons while you either find out who framed you and find the evidence to fix your standing, or prepeare your defection and court the alliance of your choice... until reaching the final conclusion...

And the whole thing might even be repeatable, through an expensive item sold in the crown store.

Of course... there might also be some limitations, to ensure people won't just switch sides like a cartoon mercenary... maybe a six months cooldown before you can even attempt to repeat faction change? Maybe a AP gain penalty, as your new faction don't quite trust a defector, evcen one who defected to them?

Deserting your own faction seems like a reasonable option in this game. I started at EP and while I enjoyed its zones and storyline the best I rather join Queen Ayrenn as she grew to be my favourite leader of the three. Giving us a choice after we have seen all the three alliances at work just makes so much sense doesn't it?
