Do you like food buffs causing magicka/hp/stamina bars to always remain visible?

pecheckler

On consoles after using food the buffed magicka, health, and stamina bars always remain visible until the effect expires. Not just when in combat. Many people have complained about this, submitted bug reports, commented on the forums and reddit. Yet Zenimax has not said anything in response, so we can only assume it's intended design.

Do you like this "feature"?

*This is not a pole asking whether or not you want a buff indicator (aka a tiny buff icon with a timer in the corner of your UI - We all know this would be ideal). This a pole about whether or not you want that buff indicator to be the gigantic magicka/health/stamina bars always remaining visible even out of combat.

Zenimax wanted a minimalistic UI for maximum immersion, yet these three bars are always visible at all times when food buffs are active. That happens to be at all times for many players. How can anyone be for this? These bars serve no purpose when out of combat except to make players aware their food duration has expired, as many have pointed out. Still, I refuse to accept that this was intended. What sane UI designer would make that decision? Give us a toggle option to only display them when in combat with food active.

You see if the buff is up either way. The buffed bar sizes are larger. Even using purple food meaning all three are buffed the bar sizes are larger.

No, you don't see the buff is up if you're using drinks. The only way to tell is the occasional arrow that goes up on your bars. Regeneration buffs (drinks) don't increase the overall size of the buffs. Seeing as how we don't have buff trackers yet, I think this is a welcomed bonus so you can see when you need to eat/drink again.

    -Edit-

What I mean is that if you were to remove the effect of the bars staying up when buffed, then people using drinks wouldn't know they were up other than checking the character screen for active effects.

This is a horrible 'feature' on console. The attribute bars and the ability bars are already to high off the bottom of the screen, they cover your character depending on zoom level. The bars should be moved down at least 1 inch overall.

Then, for what reason should I need to see a 30 minute buff constantly pulsate the attribute bars for the duration of the buff? It's absolutely ridiculous. Make it optional through the menu or remove it completely.

And MOVE the damn bars down to the bottom of the screen....not 2 inches up from the bottom. There is no reason they shouldn't be pegged to the bottom of the screen.

On console, yes. They do. I just tested it again to make sure. I'm standing in the middle of Stonefalls outside of combat and with my drink buffs active my stam and mag bars are still on screen. It would be rather annoying to not have the bars displayed when you're using a buff. I don't want to waste my time going through my character screens to make sure they are still active. I'd rather just have it displayed.

I worded this totally wrong. It's obvious people think this pole is a request to have a buff UI component like so many PC version add-ons provide in a minimalist icon. I meant for this to be about the default STOCK magicka/health/stamina bars.

On console this feature actually breaks the minimalistic UI game immersion. Depending on the buff, you have three giant bars up at all times on the screen covering half your character.

No, I already learned to adjust to it just like toggling health bars in the option menu. I would gladly have it replaced by an buff UI, but that was not the intention of your initial post.

Yes exactly. Instead of three GIGANTIC bars on the screen 24/7 we could have a tiny icon with a timer that takes up a fraction of the screen real estate.

I voted yes but not sure. lol In fact that's not bothering me at all, it's kinda useless to see this outside of combat but it is not THAT gigantic, I love the minimalistic UI in ESO.

I'd be more bothered if it look like FFXIV UI that takes like 30% or more of my screen with bars, texts, numbers, icons and so on that prevent me for fully enjoying the beauty of the game environment. It's usefull but not necessary to me, that's just stats, I want to be immersed in the world of Tamriel, not in its data...

So, what you're saying is you're the guy that's ruining ESO for everyone else? Your immersion is too important for the rest of the community who doesn't care about three bars being shown? Is that what you're saying? How can somebody honestly be bothered by their bars being shown? Unless you're trying to make some fantastic screenshot (in which case you shouldn't be playing on PS4), then I don't understand why it bothers you. This is the price you pay for playing console. You can't modify the look of your game like you can on PC. They have to accommodate the majority of their player base. In case you haven't looked at your own poll (no it's not spelled "pole" like you keep typing), you are the minority.

I use food buffs at all times. I have hundreds of purple food buffs. For every level range. Thus when I started doing single player story quests on new characters with completely irrelevant bars always present I started to get really pissed. It is an unnecessary UI element when not in combat.
