This is WAI and not a bug. I like to have those reminders that my buffs are up and which stats are affected.

No, you don't see the buff is up if you're using drinks. The only way to tell is the occasional arrow that goes up on your bars. Regeneration buffs (drinks) don't increase the overall size of the buffs. Seeing as how we don't have buff trackers yet, I think this is a welcomed bonus so you can see when you need to eat/drink again.
-Edit-
What I mean is that if you were to remove the effect of the bars staying up when buffed, then people using drinks wouldn't know they were up other than checking the character screen for active effects.

drinks do not cause the bars to remain visible out of combat
I'm usually not a spelling fascist but FFS.
ridiculous
On console this feature actually breaks the minimalistic UI game immersion. Depending on the buff, you have three giant bars up at all times on the screen covering half your character.

You don't have a problem with gigantic bars covering your character for hours on end? Do you realize that endgame players keep food active at all times?

Exactly the point....
We don't want to constantly check the character screen in the middle of a trial just to make sure we still have food/drink buffs up. We want to be able to tell at a glance. I'm not sure what you aren't understanding?

Look at the screenshot I added. Am I in a trial? No. Am I in combat? No. Then why do I need to see the buffs? Do you see the rest of the UI? There's nothing but a compass. Three giant colored bars are completely out of place. I'm not sure what you aren't understanding?

Because atm we are not given any other option to check on how to easily display if we still have food buffs up. Why would you want to get rid of our only means? Do you even use food buffs while you are playing?
Having to scroll through character screen every time is a real pain.

Lmao....it's almost like they had the intern try and sub in for the lead UI designer who was off on vacation.
That's 3 inches off the bottom of the screen at least. Seriously. And up all the time with food buffs regardless of any setting in Options.

Because, the space below is used to display skills while in combat....
