Yes, I couldn't agree more with this. I'm still on level 45 and would never expect to be on par with a VR player that have spent countless hours investing in their character. It wouldn't be fair to those veteran players if I could just roll in in my new character and be on equal terms after a very short time investment.
And after 3 years when you still haven't caught up with those Vets and still get destroyed in PVP ?
Your 3 years of hard graft got you far....didn't it ?
And when the games been going 5 years.
Those new players cant hope to be comparable until they too have been grinding for 5 years at which point those at 5 years would have had 10 years worth of grind and CP.
There is no cap to this system and the diminishing return isnt really that diminishing.
You will never catch up and always be cannon fodder.
Dumbest argument in this thread by far. CP does have a cap at 3600 points.
Dumbest response in this thread by far
Any idea how long it takes to reach 3600 points ?
No not the dumbest, because you response just took the title. Before the xp drinks about 3 years. now, it will be about a little less than 1.5 years for a no lifer to hit it.
1.5 years if he plays the game 24/7 without sleeping or eating etc. Also he would need a serious bankroll because it would cost a LOT of real life cash to have the XP pots up the entire 1.5 years without a break. So your whole statement here is simply ludicrous.

. At this point you should just stop because you really dont know what you are talking about
Yeahh he has been a great "Champion" for the CO system, but his armor is really dented up and seems to be showing rust.
The only argument he has made that I can tell is
" I was here and should be allowed to punish the new players with my over buffed stats"
" The mass majority support the CP system" <Even though by looking at the forums he is clearly WRONG>
The vast majority doesnt use the forums. This thread has a total of 7000 views. Very few people posting in it. In fact Id say mainly its 3 or 4 people. So thats hardly a majority of even forum users.
Noone is saying they should be able to punish new players. New players will have to put in time to be equal. Thats how it works. If you dont like that then maybe MMOs arent for you.

I was probably playing MMO's before you owned a PC.......
Beta test EQ and Asherons call and played both for over 9 years... On a PvP only server that you could loot other players gear in fact..
So please hold up on the insults about my gaming history..

Those days are over. MMOs arent like they used to be. I said maybe MMOs arent for you. I should have said maybe MMOs NOW arent for you. This MMO definitely doesnt seem to be your cup of tea. BTW just for your information I played UO before the trammel switch when the pvp server was just the entire server. Then I played on the siege server which only allows you to have one character and there were no safe zones period.
So I have vastly more experience than you.

Woot UO players unite. I didn't play long before Trammel came. I played primarily in Siege though. I was a dirty thief hah. People would go crazy if you could do that in games today.

I played on the Great Lakes server. In a random drawing I won a keep which was partially in the guard zone near vesper. I ran a auction house, vendor mall and a rares museum. When I left I sold the keep on ebay for $3500 basically empty. I donated all the rares to another museum.

Eh, the problem with that is it supports the belief that you should be rewarded for not playing the game, which is unfair to people who play the game. People who play the game are rewarded for their time and effort spent in playing the game through currency, CP, XP, gear, whatever, but for people who do not play the game to be awarded with XP (and thus CP) is wrong because it assumes that the time and effort put in by the people who play the game is meaningless. And it is wrong to say that people's work is in any degree meaningless.
Funkopotamus wrote: »So after reading all of the post about CP and the gap it has cause in the player base be it PvE or even worse PvP.
When you have a system that allows CP bonuses to be applied to lvl 30 or even below characters you are destroying any form of equal footing any new players could ever achieve or hope to reach.
Lets be honest here. I know there will be those people that have reached the point to take advantage of this system to the fullest as we have seen already on console and PC. We must take into account that they earned that and have every right to use this system as it is not their fault! It will get even worse with EXP potions from the crown store. With that happening ZOS has basically put themselves into a corner by allowing people to pay real money to widen the Fairness Gap even more.
Thing is with this system ZOS is locking themselves into a system that will not be new player friendly within 6 months. Would you be willing to buy a game that you could never be on an equal playing field no matter how hard you tried or how much effort you put into the game. This games end game IS PvP and with this system there is no way new players will ever be able to enjoy it to the fullest.
I really wanted ESO to be THE MMO that I would be playing for years to come, but it just seems like this CP system will close the door for new players in the future and the game will not continue to grow over time. I mean what are we going to have in 1 year or even 2 years? Is it going to be only the people that "stuck it out" when the game first came out? Because I know for a fact that I wouldn't try to join an MMO that focuses on PvP at end game and knowing I would never be able to stand on equal ground with the mass of the player base. I for sure wouldn't want to be an ESO plus member and pay $15 a month for it. With that being said ZOS would have to look to the cash shop to make money and we all know where that will lead.
So I ask you folks.... Do you think the CP system should be replaced or left in the game or maybe even reworked for the long term health of the game?
Yep this was a great take from AAOC and it was done well actually, buuuuuut allowing those "ALT's" into the newbie arena is only promoting TROLL's. Lets not forget those character's will already have the best crafted gear available most likely. Now if those CP players were only allowed to fight in VR/CP arena's I do not think it would be such a problem.Funkopotamus wrote: »So after reading all of the post about CP and the gap it has cause in the player base be it PvE or even worse PvP.

I totally agree with you OP.
The CP system seems an interesting character progression system for characters over level 50, but I honestly cannot understand why CP also affect alts (at least non-vet alts). Imo it is basically destroying the non-vet campaign (which was one of the most amazing rvr experiences available in any mmo), and it makes pve trivial and probably hard to balance.
