Does anyone actually bother to look this up? I recommend doing a search at UESP.net then type in dragons and you will get all the info I've already posted above that states EMPHATICALLY that dragons exist during the events of our game!!!!!!

Were you just establishing that ESO takes place during the Interregnum? Because if so, stand up job mate ;)

That said it has nothing to do with dragons one way or another, goto uesp.net and search dragons and you will get the confirmation that, in-fact, dragons are alive and well during the Interregnum ;)

There are basically two dragons that would be alive and active somewhere in the world at this point but doubt we will see them given one headlines another game and the other is busy hiding and waiting for the return of someone which if you played redguard and skyrim you know who they are, not sure which others would still be kicking, but elder scrolls online is more about the dreadic princes

Little wyvern pets would rock in theory. I have a couple of hesitations:

    1. Pet over-population. We already have too many pets running free and NO ONE pays any attention to leash laws You can't go anywhere without tripping over some dog, banekin, or dwemer spider.

    2. What happens when your cute wittle dwagon becomes A GIANT FIRE BREATHING MONSTER? Does no one here watch Game of Thrones? I mean yes, it turned out awesome for Dany, not so great for all the people of Mereen that Dagon torched (or Dany's friends who she left to die for that matter. Some queen).

Not being sarcastic - genuinely putting it out there.

If they are, then Titans are Dragons. If not, then they aren't.

Personally, I'm good with 'they used to be Dragons'.

Incidentally, at the time of ESO, Paarthurnax is hanging out at the Throat of the World with the Greybeards, so there's at least one 'proper' dov out there.

Nope. Dragons are virtually extinct at this point in Tamriel's history.

@UrQuan I've seen you in other threads that have thoroughly debunked the whole dragons are extinct in the 2nd era and I know you read what I read...

Dragons are actively hunted in the 2nd Era, now ill find the link... http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dragons

    The Disappearance of the Dragons[edit]

Dragons became more elusive after losing their grip on power.[23] Their numbers dwindled over the years due to many causes: their population in Akavir was wiped out by the Tsaesci, who also brought their onslaught to Tamriel, and the dragons in Vvardenfell were overrun by invading cliff racers.[4] The Akaviri Dragonguard and its successor, the Blades, along with other heroes, hunted dragons and their followers throughout the eras until dragons were nearly extinct.[16][22][24] Tiber Septim offered those who remained protection in return for their fealty.[2] Despite his pledge, almost all known wild dragons were killed or driven off, disappearing from sight in Tamriel.[22][2]

Some sources claim that all dragons disappeared at once, being devoured by a dragon king or absorbed by Tiber Septim when he ascended to godhood.[2] Many held the belief that the dragons were extinct.[9] This was not true, as live dragons continued to exist throughout the Third and early Fourth Era. Nomads in the Alik'r Desert frequently spoke of "Great Wyrms" inhabiting its vast wastes, although these claims were never independently confirmed.[25] The Akatosh Chantry hold dragons as their holy symbol, and keep tamed dragons in their "sacred grove".[26][21] Many ancient legends tell of dragons making deals with other races to protect themselves.[22][27][28] According to Brarilu Theran, at least one dragon is known to have laired in the smoking ruins of Vvardenfell after the Red Year, long after the cliff racers were driven off by Saint Jiub.[27]

The above is just one example of dragons existing during game time, there are MANY MANY more game lore books that touch on specific dragons being interacted with during the 2nd Era. Discussion Over
That's why I said virtually extinct instead of just saying extinct. Because I know there are still a bunch of them around - just few enough (and mostly in hiding) that you're incredibly unlikely to ever run into one. Most of them have already been hunted down by the time of ESO, but there are still a bunch alive.

I had completely forgot about this too, I just replayed the first quest taking you to High Hrothgar and after you complete the shouts quests the monk that talks to you gives you a dialogue option all about Jorunn and his founding of the temple and how he spoke with dragons using the dragon tongue... also the front doors of the temple have Jorunn's bust (head and shoulders) engraved onto them... go look and you will see that the ESO dev's modeled Jorunn after that engraving!

There are currently none of the Dov in this game Dov are what is the main form of dragon in the elder scroll games, they may look a little different from other dragons from other games. The only Dov that look remotely like your typically dragon was/is Nafaalilargus he does end up getting killed in the second era but that is sometime off still, and was not killed by a dragon born. But could see them bringing him out at some point given things but so far none pf the dov in the game

Yeah and daedric princes can make their minions look however they please, doesn't mean its technically a dragon its a daedric being

Just my two cents, and elder scrolls does dragons a little differently from the other games, has think most people are getting mixed up with the dov and things the princes create

So, to answer the OP philosophically: there's nothing in the game at this time that has the label "dragon" (or "wyvern", for that part) on it. Whether there are genuine dragons/wyverns in the world during the Era in which ESO happens, and whether they could or couldn't theoretically be interacted with by other races, remains a matter of (encouraged) debate.

I remember Lawrence Schick once remarking about how Elder Scrolls lore is always told from the perspective of the denizens of Tamriel, i.e. it's offered as an "in-character", and thus subjective, point of view. A fictional scholar or historian can be as prone to his or her pet theories as their real-world counterparts. The only "factual" collections of lore are third party sites like UESP, which of course can only rely on the "subjective" in-game sources.
