What's broken is the gap between people with lots of champion points and new players. They made the passives way too strong. If people want to grind their life away, that's their choice though. That being said, they should buff experience gain from actually playing the game.

Plus with diminishing returns at a certain point the bonus gains are very small.

If they decrease the XP greatly for mobs, then we have the game becomes silly as people leveling just run past mobs to finish content. I remember seeing a lot of that at launch in dungeons when people felt mobs were giving enough XP to be worth killing.
Perhaps they need to level VR more strictly so that if you are VR14, you don't get XP for mobs in Cyrodiil and VR Zones except for one-time bosses, like group bosses or bosses in dungeons (the first time you kill them).

This post is so unbelievably dumb. If you make it so veterans have massive power advantages over newcomers, there's no point in coming late to the game if you're looking to half a year or more of grinding to catch up.
This power gap affects PvE, where guilds and PuG's will establish CP requirements to join their groups, and especially PvP where CP imbalance directly translates to the outcome of a fight.

The longer I don't play, the worse it gets, and the chances of picking up the game again get slim to none.

This is an mmo. Some people have more time to play than others. That's life. Get used to it. If someone dedicated 5 hours a day 7 days a week to playing an mmo of course they will be ahead and it's reasonable that they should be. They dedicated more time to it. Sorry that you can't catch up. Make a life change so you too can play five hours a day 7 days a week. There problem solved.
There is absolutely no system that can be created to make everyone equal because people wanted to be rewarded for their time. If people aren't rewarded for their time than their is no incentive to play. Just make everyone vr 14 and give everyone the best gear and max champion points. Where is the fun in that?
We are aware of balance concerns from players with more champion points. As Phil mentioned the system was designed to help keep players closer in power level with diminishing returns and enlightenment bonus XP. In the future we can implement catchup mechanics so the first 400 champion ranks require less experience, helping get new players catch up.
In terms of XP, we're actually buffing for some areas in the next major update. Specifically public dungeons and craglorn are being increased. Additionally we're increasing the XP that veteran level quests give so there's more of a parity between gains between questers and grinders. Lastly we're reducing the amount of XP required to get a veteran rank so players can get to the max level content sooner. - ZOS_Eric
lol right.im at 244 CP....
oh And ZOS said the CP is capped at 300/month....3fuking00.....like who the f...did the math..../ZOSLOGIC
@ZoS_eric how does a purely time/grind based progression keep players at a comparable power level, compared to the previous system? Why are we removing former emp and ignoring the 3600 pt gorilla in the room.

No
Disclaimer I've only played 2 mmos this and Tera
Before 1.6 there was no gear gap really if you could afford it you could buy the top notch gear or craft it yourself within a coupe weeks, with a few days grinding undaunted crap you could get the sets you needed as well, this more or less made everyone equal with gear THIS is what i enjoyed about the game, gear meant nothing. There was a massive SKILL gap between players it was easy to sort out the skilled and the great players from the poor, they had nothing special it was just pure skill and how they played which is what made this game great and made sense to me at least. Now this game rewards people who grind out 70 days and will have a large bonus is power and stats against newcomers and people returning. I know for a fact people will be sitting at 400+, I having quit around 170 will never reach the amount they have and its *** that it turns into being less about skill and more about just time
3 months farming in a cave to get 700 cp makes the system flawed?
I dont think so.

I dont think so.
The only flaw is that those guys dont have own leadeboard, who gives a damn about DSA or Trials after people see these CP grinders.
ESO obviously have a competitive overdose, way too much of it. Too bad they dont realize it. When competitive players start to fill up these forums, that leads to OP-gears/advantages too.
Daybreak Company, start hyping ENQ, we are ready to move!

I see people like you in every MMO I use. Always the next game will be the one. Then you get there and you complain. Then you find another game and say "Ok THIS time for sure!". Then you do nothing but whine and complain there as well. Thats why companies wont listen to you. No matter what they do you will always be chasing that next game.

Instead of getting jealous and bitching about a "power gap" or whatever, I admire the guy for his determination. Heck, I'm so inspired, I might just spend the rest of the day grinding. See you at 3600 CP!
