Remind players to turn off mic.

I'd like to see a load screen note reminding player to turn off their mic when not talking in game. I don't enjoy going into town and hearing someone chewing, talking to their wife/husband, yelling at their wife/husband/kids, a fan too close to the mic, or many other noises.

    1. Take off your own headset.

Nope, I'm seeing all the complaints of yet another ZOS fail from console players....and now I never want ZOS to add it to pc. I used to want it and couldn't understand why not, LOTRO does it just fine and how much older is LOTRO?? But console complaints have changed my whole outlook on the subject.

thats moronic, if a PS2 could support keyboard text chat in a MMO then a flipping PS4 can too.

this and the seperation of the platforms is part of why this game will tank in the end... unless ZOS gets overthemselves and combines the servers and brings consoles up to where they need to be and actually do their jobs in maintaining balance between the platforms instead of segregating them so they have less work to do,,,,,,,, im staying on PC.

Why would anyone do that when party chat works great on both consoles? Their end of things is fine. As far as mics, I even talk with that cheap bundled PS4 mic that couldnt have cost more than 5 cents to produce and can talk just fine...outside of ESO that is.

The first party devices are fine... They have mute built into the device and work great for gaming. Its all the users with a 3rd party device that doesnt have a mute button (for some strange reason).

Also its a major issue with kinect as you keep being forced into area chat when all I want to be is in my small guild of just friends chat that when they come on I would then put on a headset.

ZOS - I want a option to permanently turn off area chat and toggle it on only during the very very very rare circumstance that I want it on. I will survive with quick chat phrases since there is no full text chat which I am sorta meh on at the current time unless they allow p2p trading where both have to agree to what items were put forth.

On Console it is easy to mute an individual. But does that carry over to ESO chat interface and mute them there?

Other option is Disable area chat.

Is there a way to monitor two ESO voice channels/respond to one besides the Area chat and another?

I can be in one guild channel and listen in on area now, but can I be in guild channel A and also listen in on guild channel B at the same time (either same guild or other)?

If we can do this then then is a possible reason to use ESO chat... else I will stick with Xbox party system

Funny thing is the built in party voice capture is far superior to the VOIP built into ESO on Xbox live. So the facts don't add up to your statement.

As it stands now if you group up it is better to leave ESO chat and use the Xbox party system.

ESO Chat Issues compared to build in chat
    • Considerably louder signal on ESO
    • Signal in not as clean on ESO
    • Mic sensitivity is set to high on ESO

Removing all forms of communication with these people is the best choice?!?!? Push to talk, or hell, even this suggestion are better then your suggestion; at least they leave the option of having some way to communicate with randoms.

I do immediately remove myself from Area Chat the second I log in; but the disadvantage of that is I have no way to communicate with anyone outside my guild when I do that. These people are trying to avoid that exact problem; personally, I don't think relying on the courtesy of strangers (which is what this thread is ultimately suggesting) is the best option; much better to allow us to remove ourselves from Area Chat and provide a different form of communication with randoms which isn't so insufferable; like I don't know, text chat? But that is my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the OP suggesting his opinion on how to deal with this very real problem.

when i play, i have 8 different chats to join. hopefully that is enough to find what you are looking for. If not, then a better quality guild might be in order.

I more than understand the situation, but area chat is area chat for a reason. If you want to find a better quality enviroment to speak in, then do what i did. Create a guild that only allows players with headsets (no kinect mics) and enjoy yourself. There are many many ways around this problem, all you gotta do is get a little creative on your end.

My guild chat is so much fun to be in just becuase of that fact I have worked hard to make sure all 90 of my members have a quality mic and are not little whiny turds.

@pman85 im on pc, so the point us moot for me :3

But you already agreed to what my solution would be on a different thread; zone and larger guild lists are maybe push to talk by default, and smaller guilds and groups are open mke by default. Then have options to customise it.

    This.

I have misophonia and food noises of any kind are a trigger for me.

It's bad enough dealing with it at a restaurant or party, but having it beamed directly to my ears with Turtle Beaches is obnoxious.

Also, it won't happen, but irritating food noises in the actual game sound effects like Guar, or the Alchemy Stations that are WAY too loud need to be axed as well. Oh well like I said, won't happen.

Not only this, but you have to exit local voice chat EVERY TIME YOU LOG ON or simply switch characters. So super annoying, and honestly, after having to manually exit this chat about 1000 times since launch, I am beyond annoyed that there is no default to permanently keep me out of area chat. The other day I was transferring items to alts and had to log out of area voice chat 9 times within two kinutes because some dude was standing there with his mic live while listening to loud music.

I am already in a guild and use those chat channels. Stop dropping me into area chat.

You know it is comforting to know I am not alone is experiencing this; shared suffering does make it better...lol...

I have the same issue when transferring items between my mules; they all use the same bank; sometimes I get a different phase every time I log in and it isn't an issue; other times, same phase repeatedly, so I get subjected repeatedly to whatever obnoxious sound is going on near the bank (which is it just me, or is there always someone doing something annoying near the banks? Maybe I'm just imagining it, but it seems like that is a focal point for annoying behavior).

Regardless of whether or not text chat gets added, I firmly support a way to default Area Chat off completely.
