Yeah that zerg argument is just stupid. Its a part of a good MMORPG and its charme^^

Can't tell if you're saying that wanting an environment where multiple styles of play can be really strong is stupid or if you're saying that people thinking a lack of a text box will cause zerging is stupid.
Right now I'm under the impression you are implying the former and that just leaves me confused. If you're implying the latter my mistake and cheers mate.
I hope ZoS for once stick to their guns and don't add chatbox, never know, ppl might actually figure out that conversing with others and socialising can be beneficial.
Doubtful on both tho, ZoS cave in way to easy and generally players only care about their own little world

Oh god. Please zos don't make us have to play with the controller in one hand and A keyboard in the other. Pleasssssse. No text chat.
I know its ironic that I'm typing this. If zos forums had voice chat I wouldn't have to hen peck out that joke.

Then zos can use the money raised to hire a guy to jus ban and delete gold farm accounts, troll accounts and bottled accounts.
Everybody wins.
This game is fng great just the way it is.

There are problems with this:
1. Those of us that hate chat, remove ourselves from it. First thing I do in the game is leave of Area chat. This then leaves me with no way to communicate with other players; because I don't want to deal with the annoying people in voice comms. No communication is never the correct answer, so we ask for text chat to give us an option besides listening to people's whole living rooms at once; or listening to squeakies, or blaring music (I've run into all of these in game, I gave Area chat a chance, and it was just annoying, so I left it).
2. Most pro-text chat people are not anti-voice. You know where I do use voice comms, with my friends and guild. So it isn't really even people are against voice, we are pro-text. These concepts are not mutually exclusive. Use voice comms where appropriate and use text chat where appropriate. It is ignorant to believe that each method does not have pros and cons and scenarios where they are better suited.
3. Precedence says controller and keyboard is a very viable and often preferred method of playing a game, one simply needs to look at FFXIV:ARR (on any of the systems, PC, PS3 or PS4) to see many many many people using this exact setup.
4. We live in a society that increasingly uses text for basic communication (one simply needs to look at how people use phones and the internet in general), even though voice options are available. This game is now bucking that trend for absolutely no valid reason.
5. You don't speak for all console gamers (this is in response to your other posts in the locked thread); I am purely a console gamer, and I desire text chat. So please, avoid generalizing us, you can speak about what "you" prefer, but don't say console gamer this, console gamer that; because I exist and disagree with you on this completely.

I do find it funny that so far on voice chat most people that are using it that I have heard have been doing one of these things:
1.Playing music (annoying)
2. Acting stupid arguing with people over nothing (annoying)
3. Mic is constantly breaking up (annoying)
4. People running up to you constantly bothering you then when you turn to them they run away (annoying)
5. Have a tv running in background (annoying)
Seems like no one is using voice chat right out in open, not sure about dungeon and PvP stuff yet.

Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.
I find voice chat to be less social and far more restrictive in meeting new people than text chat.
1. More people can talk in text chat than in voice chat. Voice chat causes people to be cut off, confusing if there is more than one conversation going on
2. I am restricted. A) If I am doing a dungeon with my group - I cannot talk to my guild. Well, if my group was in guild chat, sure I could, but I'm sure they wouldn't enjoy "heal me" "I need a res" "I'm out of magicka" being yelled. Comparison: On PC, I can be on voice chat with my group, and still view the guild chat. If I see a question come up and nobody answers, when I have a moment I can answer that question. On console - I would have never have even known that question was asked. B ) Let's say I am enjoying hanging out with my guild, and I meet a random new person who seems to be doing the quests with me. I must abandon my guild chat to speak with this new person in the area. On PC, I could use /say and never leave my guild chat. It's also a lot slower having to go through the menus on console to move voice chat zones.
3. I don't find voice chat to help meeting anyone better. A)Many people keep saying to go into Party Chat so you don't need to listen to terrible things - well.. that's not very social. You have now effectively cut off just chatting with someone you meet up with in game B ) Once again, see issue of choosing guild over area or vice versa
4. I can't listen. As in - I cannot listen to the great voice acting I enjoy so much. Well, I can... but that means I need to be anti-social and turn off voice chat - I can't tell the entire guild or area to be quiet while I listen to an NPC. On PC, when I want to quest and listen - I don't use voice chat, I use text.
5. I have ran into many many people who don't have (or won't use) mics. Well... now I don't ever get to know them I guess. PSN messages are not a viable way to chat, and neither is mail.
I'd rather quit ESO and play something else. I will not use the voice chat to speak or listen to random people. After a week, I'm pretty much convinced that I don't even want to hear other players's voices/sounds anymore.
It would be great if they at least add an option to auto-leave area chat whenever I switch the zone.
