So not sure how this will work but i guess anyone that does not like the way we talk can just mute us.
Not sure if there is any other solution.
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom
Care to way in and let us know how this will work.
Bad enough i have to heavily revise everything i post here.
Especially since one more wrong word and im banned off the forums.
We swear and cuss like troopers in every other game but normally we are on oceanic servers so we play with other Aussies.
So you can see why we are a tad worried lol.
I'm not trying to speak on behalf of ZOS but usually the way this works is the console will drive this. If a player wants to report another player it's done outside of the game so ZOS can't intervene
Most ppl aren't going to try and have you banned tho by he'll just mute or avoid you
(That's my limited perspective on the matter)
Thats fine with me yet to be a problem just this time it's different because of the mega server.

He pretty much only plays Battlefield 4.. Which is kind of a sewer if you use ingame chat.
We normally use Party chat, but we were using ingame chat for a reason.
He was reported by several people over 3 hours (it was extreme cartoon levels of swearing when he died).
The fun forum to read is the one where people go to protest suspensions and banning. It is like traffic court. People never seem to know that using illegal Russian hacked copies of games or hacking their gamerscore might be somthing they could get in trouble for.
No sir, I did not know the Stop sign I ran over was there. No sir, I have been driving to work on that sidewalk for 10 years.
My friend absentmindedly swore 2x in his written appeal.

This....ppl only care if you're rude to them.
It's really a non-issue

I'm dying here. It reminds me of the support chat sessions when ppl try to plead their case to me. I'm like hey....follow the rules and go appeal.
Funny stuff

You can only hear ppl that are very close by so it's no issue as the volume diminishes as you or they get further away.
If you're on PS4 no idea. Good luck
Report that never does anything and proximity if it's so small how will this amazing voice chat you keep talking about work?
Basically your stuck having to not use any chat if you want to avoid the sound of swear words coming across your TV on occasion. I highly doubt that anything will come of someone who swears in the game as voice based profanity and insults are impossible to confirm for a company and part of the reason text based chat is nice since there is an actual transcript.
I know for a fact in college one of my friends would be that annoying guy not outright swearing but making dumb noises and all sorts of issues and never once was he ever even warned by Microsoft let alone disciplined.
Also with proximity voice I already know people are going to chase people around to harass them and nothing will be done. Until Xbox records all voice in transcripts nothing can really be done unless the person 100% of the time is being a moron, oh and by the way no one is going to let them record or transcript everything said to their kinnect or mic.

Thats the problem. PC zone chat has an optional profanity filter, which can remove it from the stream.
BTW guys, profanity also can be seen as a violation of ZoS Code of Conduct, leading to game ban. Of course... ZoS cant say if any action were taken. And, if the console reporting tool sucks like the PC version, where you have to target the player to report them.. no chance anything will be done.

The online voice or text chat has NO bearing on the rating of a game. Mature rating has 0 things to do with what players say/do and 100% to do with game content.

But you cannot waive a state right, or a state law. In these places the game industry really cannot take action. Not sure on Interstate law. I could ask a former co worker on that. EULA and TOS does not supersede or take place of laws.So if such recording takes place in those no go States it could be an issue for Game companies. It may be their server and IP yes. But the law makes no distinction and offers no shelter based on those terms. Pen trap and trace registers, voice registers and VOIP registers fall under that category. Section702a ( one interstate and international example)requires warrants, and or a notification process.

On consent. Consent is not a one time check the box to play the game sort of thing relating to these laws. Consent has a specific meaning and process. Each call/session/transaction requires notification to the recorded party. At the beginning of the recording. Some states do not require consent on two party communications VA is one example. But under federal law all three party communications must involve consent from all parties. In the event of exigent circumstances three party communications can be recorded for law enforcement purposes or under the color of law.
Telecommunications Comapnies have exceptions under the law for CALEA compliance and in performance of mantaince duties and to protect their rights and interests a telecom is registered FCC entity and in adherence to FCC Part 68
If harassment and wrong doing are present actions can be taken but corporations are not barristers, magistrates or law enforcement.
That is the flip side of the coin. All it takes is that ONE gamer who decides that their profanity ban was the last straw in one of these states who decides to file a civil suit. The preponderance of evidence will fall on the corporation. The methods used are subject to scrutiny of law.

Only if said gamer actually had a proper lawyer to take his case on. Which, thankfully, the typical derp console gamer who acts like an ass 24/7 does not.
