Is there any profanity filter for VOIOP?

So if you get someone on there who is constantly swearing, it gets static-ed out? Or is there no way to police this?

That sir is a very good question. I don't think I have ever seen anything that could do that.

Never heard of such a thing. It seems like it would be cumbersome to implement. Blocking all swear words , their derivatives, and in all of the many languages.

I imagine, it would be a sledgehammer solution, ie - putting that player on ignore, so you cant hear him at all, which is fine, unless he's a friend and thats just the way he speaks.

On console. No filter but if you're on Xbox one there is a very simple report feature found in the game profile. Because ZOS used the gamertag it pulls right up.

You can only hear ppl that are very close by so it's no issue as the volume diminishes as you or they get further away.

If you're on PS4 no idea. Good luck

I don't think it will be possible to do that, but you can mute the person. If he is a friend that you don't want to mute, then ask him/her to stop.

Used to get the profanity strings/blasts in aoc when raiding with the guildies and half of the raid would get locked out after a boss killed them. That was funny because you watched the rest of your raid get killed off one by one and couldn't do squat about it. That was the Scorpion caves unchained raid the Archer Prince was a D.B with that. The more people who died the louder and longer the profanity.

Report that never does anything and proximity if it's so small how will this amazing voice chat you keep talking about work?

Basically your stuck having to not use any chat if you want to avoid the sound of swear words coming across your TV on occasion. I highly doubt that anything will come of someone who swears in the game as voice based profanity and insults are impossible to confirm for a company and part of the reason text based chat is nice since there is an actual transcript.

I know for a fact in college one of my friends would be that annoying guy not outright swearing but making dumb noises and all sorts of issues and never once was he ever even warned by Microsoft let alone disciplined.

Also with proximity voice I already know people are going to chase people around to harass them and nothing will be done. Until Xbox records all voice in transcripts nothing can really be done unless the person 100% of the time is being a moron, oh and by the way no one is going to let them record or transcript everything said to their kinnect or mic.

An in-game report may not but a profile report does.

OH it's a BIG deal trust me. It's why you'll see me step in on the forums here and say be care to ppl around Xbox stuff. Some are a few days, weeks, months or indefinite.

They aren't lenient either.

Think I read you might work Xbox support or something but you have to be smoking the company pipe if you think profile reporting actually does something.

Like I said I have known one friend back in college who was incredibly annoying and I even reported him onetime and I was his close friend. Had other friends at times swear and cuss people out and just in general be very unsporting for the fun of it. Heck in halo I have even been a jerk at times on a different gamer tag.

If you actually think reporting actually does something to the vast majority of offenders I am shocked. Now like I said if someone is 100% of the time causing issues they will get caught but the vast majority of players actually would do it randomly and more sporadically and I have never once in my 10 years on Xbox live heard of anything happening. Heck back in the day I remember playing with hackers on Halo 2 in non-ranked play where sniper rifles would shoot like cannons and gravity would be turned way down and all sorts of stuff and no ban for those players.

Now people can mute players but even with reporting and muting your not going to keep away the occasional idiots and bad sports. Can you imagine stealing a lock box from someone? Your going to have issues from time to time unless you turn off voice chat. The only grateful thing is that Christmas isn't for 6 months so your at least avoiding some of the immaturity.

Text chat is not a solution either except there can be filters and there is a transcript for easier review for banning. The issue you have is if 20 people all report someone for language it doesn't mean it was even done I know many of people who simply report people because they beat them in a game. This isn't me blaming Xbox for not banning people this is me saying you will run into bad play and if you have a small child turn off voice or put headphones on.

Its a Mature (18+) game. Why the heck do you need a profanity filter? Slaying monsters and people aren't as bad as some curses? World is going nuts...

You can butcher whole villages in this game and its ok but when you say a simple f word youre a criminal. F-word logic, thats it.

Everyone does it in some form. Xbox is by far the best I will give them that but they still fall way short on stamping out all the issues but I wouldn't expect it I just expect them to get the biggest problems.

You can't stop everyone and you can't give a ban for a slip of the tongue.

Personally I don't worry about it too much as I try to avoid any in game voice chat most of the time since college.

One thing to make most people rest at ease the biggest problems that slip through the cracks that I am talking about primarily fall into FPS and won't be found in ESO.

Ahem. Everyone is already allowing that. I think you need to read the terms you agreed to for your XBox Live account:

“You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features (for example, voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions) offered through the Service. So not sure how this will work but i guess anyone that does not like the way we talk can just mute us.

Not sure if there is any other solution.

I'm not trying to speak on behalf of ZOS but usually the way this works is the console will drive this. If a player wants to report another player it's done outside of the game so ZOS can't intervene

Most ppl aren't going to try and have you banned tho by he'll just mute or avoid you
