How do you know? I'd love to see your source. Why did ZoS abandon their hardcore players and let them get bored.
Yeah, how dare ZOS let us go 4 months without anything brand new! They should be giving us new stuff every week!!!It's just saddening for such a great game many people put time into and we haven't seen new content since September, that's almost half a year lol. It's just sad to think about.
Your math is off.
Septemer(1), October(2), November(3), December(4), January(5), February(6), Marcher(7), April(8), May(9), June(10)
Also, patches 1.6 and 2.0 were pretty major patches. No new raids, but even WoW doesn't release new raids every month.Console is doomed to fail if you can't even keep the PC bugs away. Goodluck with the console players they switch games every 2 weeks. MMOs on consoles don't appeal to teenagers who are mostly play games for gamer score/trophies.
way to not be a condescending ***
Can you tell me what other MMORPG's there are out there for modern consoles? What ZOS are doing is mildly groundbreaking, and if successful, could see ESO lasting for a long time to come. Just because what's happening doesn't affect you, and you alone, doesn't mean this game is 'doomed to fail'. You are not the only player in this game. In fact, if you quit playing ESO right now, nobody would even notice. The same goes for me.
If you're unhappy with the decisions ZOS has made, please, feel free to uninstall the game and write them a scathing email on the consequences of not catering to your every whim.
It honestly isn't going to generate record breaking numbers.
In my opinion, console to me wont generate a huge amount of revune you will see from PC gamers, main reason is because majority of console players are in it for gamerscore/trophies. Which is true, they jump game to game unlike PC many stick to one game and progress. Take Final Fantasy for example, I don't recall that being a huge maintained success. It honestly isn't going to generate record breaking numbers.
Not record breaking, no, but according to other studios a lot higher numbers than the PC version. I'm a PC player myself, especially for MMOs, over the last ... ~20 years but fact is, that, for some genres, the big bucks are coming from the console versions. Play a game like FFXIV and you can see how much of the players are playing on the PS4. Or google for the numbers of the Daybreak-MMOs ... the console versions are generating much more playtime and much more revenue from the ingame-stores.
So the console version could be the major point that's "rescuing" the game. But honestly, I'm disappointed by western MMO-developers in general. There are MMOs out there with Witcher-3-like graphics, working mass PVP, great performance and features a western player can only dream of ... I'm playing one right now. Most western MMO-devs are using way to much time to explain what they can't do instead of just doing it.
Personally I just can't figure out why they didn't take advantage of Tamriel Unlimited and welcomed back players to new content, not the same content they left in October. The Welcome Back Weekend could have been huge.
I agree with @BigM I sure hope they have something ready
IMO it's inconceivable we'll see any new content before August, 'a couple of weeks' is a hopelessly optimistic expectation I think, not least because unless ZOS are abandoning the PTS for DLC then there's no sign of that happening which would be totally required several weeks before live based on previous numerous examples.Actually what will happen is a bunch of new reviews will hit the main street gaming sites. I expect it won't be pretty if ZoS does not come out large for PC/MAC a couple of weeks after console launch.

I don't know where you get this, I was console player before I came to PC and all my friends are on consoles and none of them play games for the trophies or achievements. Most of them play for the story, others will play anything as long as someone they know plays with them and others simply play to unwind. PC gamers have this conception of the console gamer as a dudebro guy that only plays COD or whatever, and that is not correct. Check your elitism.

You are not going to see thousands of veteran rank 14 players running around doing dailies and trials etc every night and have raiding guilds. Just wont happen on consoles imo

What are you talking about? I never finished so much games as I do on the console. And it's not a matter of opinions, it's a fact ... Daybreak is publishinig the numbers and the differences between the PC and PS4-versions of their MMOs. Console players account for almost 76% of total hours played in DCUO and it doesn’t hurt that console players purchase items at a rate of 3.6 times higher that of PC players. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. So for ESO as game it surely is a good thing to come to the consoles.
And about what Final Fantasy are you talking? XIV? It's the most succesfull P2P-MMO after WOW with over 4 Million active subscribers a few days ago. I would coun't that as a huge success ...
Whilst I agree with you 100%....... there are another 1568432 threads on exactly this. So to answer your subject question, No, you are not the only one!
Kai made a comment in twitch chat on the last ESO live which indicated that an announcement is likely at E3 in about 2 weeks regarding new content, which seems to be the imperial city.
Educated guess is that this will be some more detail, & fingers crossed a rough PTS date.
New content will most likely not be added until September or perhaps a month after, if we're thinking realistically. If not, still somewhere around late august. :'(

At this point if the next update (DLC whatever) just contains Imperial City then I'm going to be extremely disappointed. It's been since November since some actual content was released... give us more than just Imperial City please. Maybe the High end PVP gear from Quakecon along with all the armor/weapons sets mentioned at Quakecon would be nice as well as other stuff for those of us who actually stuck around all this time without content.New content will most likely not be added until September or perhaps a month after, if we're thinking realistically. Completely agree and that's sad. They keep saying they won't talk about it until E3... well that means testing still has to take place along with other stuff... so to say August/September seems like a probable and depressing guess. That will mean that we've gone almost a year without any real content (Update 5 hit in November of last year)

It's not about what you consider content. It's about what ZOS considers content. They spend the resources to develop new content. To them, consoles are content. Ergo de facto they have been spending resources over the last year developing new content.

It is about what I consider content because I am the customer. I understand they have been hard at work with the console release but it's not like when consoles version is released a ton of players are going to come back from Witcher or Far Cry to the PC version because the PC didn't get anything new. If ZOS wants to count is as content for PC players then so be it, they can enjoy a dead game.

Feel free to use the search engine to find the massive amount of threads that show that console release will probably triple, if not more, their player base. Console release is far and away the healthiest thing that's happened to this game to date.
And this is coming from a PC gamer who doesn't own any console and isn't going to purchase one. Just someone who can recognize that more players = more money = more content.

In short term he is right. In long term I disagree it will not help ZoS out if they keep on the road they are on. Time will tell if what they have done to the PC/MAC players will hurt them big time in the long run!

If not, still somewhere around late august. :'(
Completely agree and that's sad. They keep saying they won't talk about it until E3... well that means testing still has to take place along with other stuff... so to say August/September seems like a probable and depressing guess. That will mean that we've gone almost a year without any real content (Update 5 hit in November of last year)
They are. They're giving you the game again on 2 separate consoles. You may not play consoles, but that doesn't mean they don't count as content.
I don't mean to speak for PC players but I'll just say that it being released on console does not count as any content for us. I think all the people leaving the game for basically anything else would agree.
It's not about what you consider content. It's about what ZOS considers content. They spend the resources to develop new content. To them, consoles are content. Ergo de facto they have been spending resources over the last year developing new content.
