What's that all about?
Voice chat is coming to PC. It's being marketed even in the new promo commercials/videos
Maybe they will announce this today via Twitch Live
First damn thing I turn off when it goes live, lol.

There's no chance for custom voice channels at all?
That way, instead of talking over all of Tiny Chat with their mics on all the time, you're just talking to the six or eight people in your "room" that press to talk?
I like the idea of small-scale invited voice chat over the text box, but if it's a constant flow of loud 12 year old girls singing pop songs and 13 year old boys using every *** word in the book all the time, you may as well just rename this to The Elder Scrolls Cluster ***.
Hopefully somebody just invents a phone app that acts like a dedicated text box for the console players to use.

That's cute, but disingenuous as you are well aware using our vocal chords or talking socially isn't the issue at hand. It's the trolls, kids blasting barney shows into the mic, and yelling angrily because you hit a level 5 wolf three seconds before they did and hurt their feelings. The exact same reason most people's first action after installing Battlefield is to disable the in game voice chat, both team and squad. Then we hop into teamspeak just like in an RPG.
, and chat the night away as friends, not just being hurled in with random people.
You knew all of that already, though. Go to work and act this way, you'll be out of a job in a hurry.

i hope not.
please understand the difference between proximity chat (annoying as hell but we gotta throw a bone for the console peasants), vs GROUP CHAT which is enabled for groups and hopefully it's push-to-talk. (which is a superior version of chat, adopted by most others MMO, and appropriate for the PC master race)

Do you by all means....but imagine if console folks feel the same about text chat

There's no need for proximity or group voice chat in a game with hundreds of other nearby players or guild members. Most guilds on PC have their own TS/Vent/Mumble, so if I need to voice chat with them, I go there. Text chat is far superior.
I just realized how horrible this is going to be on the European server... Not only will I have to deal with the Kinect microphones, high pitched Khajits, rap in the background, mr. funny guy playing *** sounds etc. but there will also be the people who insist on speaking their own language... The massive amount of German spam in /zone on PC is already annoying, having to listen to their "eine kleine das über unter auf steine Schnappi" out loud loud will be even worse.
New Video marketing 'Elder Scrolls with friends' LINK
- 55 seconds in 'play along side 100s of other players in Cyrodiil''
- 1:51 seconds in 'initiate trades of crafted goods'
All without text chat....yes, that's right, it's confirmed now.
- 1:41 seconds in 'communicate using built-in voice chat'.....and I waited for it.....text chat wheel? surely something other then just voice. Then the video ended.
That's it...voice communication with '100s of other players'. Oh my gawd.
LMAO oh man ..... I was checking out comments from major video game web sites over this trailer and they weren't positive at all , the only positive comments were those thinking this will be like Skyrim.
"say NO to proximity chat.
(but yes on GROUP chat)"
Have you ever seen or played Phantasy Star Universe on Xbox 360? The way you communicated with other people in that game was absloutely perfect for console, and I was hoping ESO would function in the same sort of way, but unfortunately it won't.
A lot of people seem to think that if you're going to have text chat, you have to use the *** system keyboard that covers the entire screen and takes ages to load up, but on PSU they had a small in-gane keyboard that popped up on a small portion of the left part on your screen, and you could navigate it with the D-pad while moving with the joysticks and fighting with ABYX. It was very minimalistic, clean, lightweight and would open/close instantly. It also had voice chat, where you just walked up to someone and pressed two buttons to invite them to your group.

Console eso needs a chat box too
What about Roleplayers? And the rest
I'm sure they will add it eventually.

Has anyone ever used the Xbox One?
Serious question because unless you're trying to be a jerk there is a system settings to use the Kinect but to disable voice chat.
Also on Xbox the headset or third party headsets have a mute button on the controller adapter in addition to ingame mute, etc.
All this hypothetical what ifs and it's gonna be a problem are examples of ppl you choose to mute or avoid. No different from PC text chat

I love how you gloss over the obvious. If they disable voice chat, the console player HAS NO OTHER OPTIONS TO COMMUNICATE. This is the core problem.
You say it's not different than PC text chat. It's completely different, PC users have a choice....voice or text chat.
'Join our Vent chat.' 'No, I can't, everyone is sleeping in the house, I'll type if I need something'.

Supposed to have that textwheel though right?

We've been through this discussion, as you know. That is being worked on, but that's just a dumb solution. You have to have chat bubbles over your head enables, and be in sight of the chat bubbles. Then you have to rely on some hand picked text phrases that you have to string together over 20 chat bubbles to make a sentence.
That's a fail solution.

No one is glossing over anything...people like yourself are convinced that communication is only effective when typed. There isn't even a consideration for being open minded to pre-typed text that no one has seen yet.
Again it's absolutely no different from PC. Using your example...third party software allow optional voice chat on PC
BUT
On consoles there is a built in text message system that is a simple as typing on YOUr KEYBOARD as when you interact with a player, you can in less than one second, pull up their gamertag and type to them or send text chat to groups of people.
You guys are making a big fuss out of something that already has universal work around a that require nothing extra on consoles.
Yeah...I guess it's not the same as PC because on console no one needs to download, install, invite with passwords or pay for vent servers, etc.
I don't get all the pushback and reactions. If you enjoy text chat so much.....stay on PC as controller support is coming.

You've used Xbox Ones messaging system right, takes 'a second' my ass. Xbox snap messages(wait 15-30 seconds), bring up on screen keyboard, try to get the gamertag typed right (cause its not on friends list), type message, send. Xbox unsnap.
Thats not a alternative to in-game text chat.
Its about choice, not being open-minded has nothing to do with it.

It sounds like you didn't play around with this in BETA
When you interact with a player you can also (add friend, send msg, send party invite, send voice message)
If your keyboard is plugged in as you share, then there is no need to snap anything. Just select and type into the box, send.
It takes a second.
If you choose to snap vs using what TESO UI provides then it will take longer.
If you use the onscreen keyboard then it takes longer and doesn't make sense BUt you've been arguing that you always have a keyboard plugged in when playing games like this on console.
AND there is SmartGlass as an option too.
You come off as just complaining to complain...the systems are better than some other online multiplayer console games and aid suggest this is by far the best communication options so far on Xbox One considering the pending text wheel, we are seemingly set to a greater experience and many different communication options thanks to ZOS building the game with each consoles systems in mind.
I will say this again till im purple in the face
If you are not transferring to consoles then its not your problem we dont want a pc copy and paste.
If you are transferring and did not play in the beta please wait and see the system is really well done.
If you really cannot do without the chat box i adivse you to stay on pc as controller support is comming.
There is no yay or nay here this topic should just be left to die.

No @Heromofo, let's get something straight. I'm not going to console. And you're gonna take my copy/paste PC UI and you're gonna like it damnit!
