So because of a lack of a basic MMO feature like text chat, that's been in MMOs since EQ, we should resort to requiring random players to use mobile devices to communicate?
Does that even make sense?
Oh, that makes perfect sense does it not? Ask that completely random dude who might be a murderer or stalker for all you know for his number, thus giving away yours and enjoy that public dungeon of yours! (sarcasm intended, obviously)
Glad i don't play consoles, gives me the shudders when I think what they consider "normal"
Or you could just, you know... talk.

But guys think about how immersed one will feel using only voice chat. Just like we on PC were immersed by the immersive minimalist nonfunctionalist noninformationalist UI. it'll be glorious.

There is a reason the best PC PvP teams and guilds use voice chat while general chat is filled with, "OMG this group of five dudes is killing EVERYONE!! Someone please he.... aaaarrrghghhhh."

When leading a PVP raid, we are dependant on the whole team listening to the leader, following orders as commanded. This is not going to happen with random voices jumping in and out of the chat.
I hope that they make it so voice chat within Group is private, but in zone let's be honest it would be better if you muted it.
How will you sell stuff, I can imagine it now "WTS Warlock Ring VR14" "I'll give you 14k for it" "Nah I'll give 20k" "I'll give you my daughter and a sausage" " I'll sell for 20k" "ok" "who are you" "Spartacus" "no I'm Spartacus" I think you get the drift.....

There are few times (on Xbox) where voice chat is an issue

Destiny does it fine i dont think the pc players will get this bro.
There's no chance for custom voice channels at all?
That way, instead of talking over all of Tiny Chat with their mics on all the time, you're just talking to the six or eight people in your "room" that press to talk?
I like the idea of small-scale invited voice chat over the text box, but if it's a constant flow of loud 12 year old girls singing pop songs and 13 year old boys using every *** word in the book all the time, you may as well just rename this to The Elder Scrolls Cluster ***.
Hopefully somebody just invents a phone app that acts like a dedicated text box for the console players to use.

god this hurt in my eyes....
@StaticWaxYou're acting like it's impossible to accomplish every social task associated in an mmo [...] Well, it's not impossible, it's just different. You're going to have to think outside the box a bit.
You can do it.

Jumping into this thread here to answer/talk to you about that statement:
Solo wise, yes it's possible. As well as any "social task" that doesn't require fast/quick communications. However, how the heck am I supposed to group effectively with ANYONE when I need to repeat myself 5+ times before anyone understands my thick accent?
Once that concern is addressed, I will be happy to accept voice chat. As it stands, I'm pretty sure that I really won't have any method of communicating with anyone in a group of any kind.

Oh I get it there, guy. It's just that your point of view is unimpressive.
You're acting like it's impossible to accomplish every social task associated in an mmo without your precious chat pane.

It'll still be years before I loose my accent. That's an extremely slow process. We will be up to "The Elder Scrolls 8: Fallen Daggers from the Sky's Rim floating through the Morrow Wind" by the time that happens.
As for just doing it it'll work with friends sure, as they'll have the patience/understanding to help, and I'm sure I will be grouping with them, but what about late night hours when none of my friends are online and I'm forced to group with random people to finish a quest/dungeon/etc? That happens extremely frequently, my staying up much later than them.

What's that all about?
Good. Looking forward to it.
Not sure what all the melodrama is about.
No option for chat box is the issue for many. We have the option on PC , we have chat box which we can communicate with the zone and set up groups, trade items , sell crafts and motifs. We set up some great pick up groups in PvP without using mics , Pick up groups for quick instances where we can all type things out easy. AND then we have the option to download programs people have been using for ages like teamspeak and ventrillo to communicate with guildies and pro pvping groups.
Now on console you dont have option, you have voice chat and the mail system. Not everyone speaks a perfect english , not everyone is accepting of how people sound over the mic , you can go so far as back to Halo to see how console community is. How does one go about the trade system in this MMO? How do we go about building into a large guild , not have everyone spam yell at the same time , i mean guild chat is a huge issue for me without chat box, my guild can have vent sessions and sometimes theyre too much when drunk i just continue chatting with them or other guildies over chat box rather then continue to listen. I cant do that on console.
Now im not mad or hating but can you supporters explain how this will work ? id like to explain to my friends how we can play on console without the most common feature in console mmos. Also im not sure if rumor or true, did Zenimax really eliminate display of character names in place with Console account name? If so then how does that work for the Role players in a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game)?
But guys think about how immersed one will feel using only voice chat. Just like we on PC were immersed by the immersive minimalist nonfunctionalist noninformationalist UI. it'll be glorious.

What's that all about?
Voice chat is coming to PC. It's being marketed even in the new promo commercials/videos
Maybe they will announce this today via Twitch Live
