    I do not understand why people are expecting 50 to be the cap as it simply cannot happen.
    It can happen, and here is a way that it could. It may not work like that, and whatever they do to remove VRs will require quite a bit of rebalancing for Veterans, but I think it would be technically possible to have 50 as the max.

    When VR removal was first announced, I only considered that it meant 50 would be the max, as having something other than 50 as max would just be relabelling them, not removing them.

    Perhaps the quality is still determined by the metals, and they remain, but their requirement is merely set to L50, meaning that their value is determined by how far you progress through Silver/Gold? Then what about Voidstone from Craglorn, or from hirelings?

    We (crafters) are assuming gear that previously scaled according to the vet system will now scale according to your champion point amount.

    lvl 50 is the intended cap as it is where your character defeats molag bal (completes the main story line). The idea is to remove the grind of the veteran levels completely, allowing those that want to do extra quests to do so and for those that want to simply play the end game content to do just the same. It also makes the leveling of new characters much easier.
