I've gotten this error twice in a row now. The second one came immediately after I quit out of the game and the launcher, waited 5 minutes, then went back in.
It only occurs when I attempt to use a way shrine, but it sure as heck puts a damper on gameplay. I've attached a screenshot for your perusal, Zeni and other interested folks.

✭✭This error is not specific to the Mac platform, and there's a support knowledge base article on it. It basically states that you should try to repair the game via the Launcher's Game Options dropdown menu (the one with the cogwheel).
If that doesn't work, it gives somewhat broken instructions on how to try another repair, or rather, re-download of the game client's depot files on the Mac. There is no such folder as stated (User/Applications/Zenimax Online/Launcher.app), and the depot isn't in the Launcher.app folder as well. You'll either want to move
/Applications/ZeniMax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online/depot (NA MegaServer)
or
/Applications/ZeniMax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online EU/depot (EU MegaServer)
Once you've done this, the Launcher will download the latest game files form the CDN, hopefully fixing any issues that crept up with patching.

Thanks for letting us know! Just to clarify, the launcher.app should be located in the User/Applications/Zenimax Online/ folder, and right-click / show package contents should properly open up the location including the depot folder.

The default location for the Zenimax Online folder is not in User/Applications, it's in Applications.
Also, there is no Depot folder in the Launcher.app contents package, it's in Applications/Zenimax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online.
