They've become so accustomed to the baby's first MMO feel of WoW they have the same expectation of any other MMO, inadvertently causing the downfall of many new MMO's with interesting ideas. WoW has conditioned people to be impatient. It's all about the instant gratification for them. It's gotten to the point that WoW's become too ludicrous for its own good, constantly rewriting its own history, constantly dumbing down mechanics, constantly watering down content. There's no sense of awe and accomplishment anymore. It's all about how fast can I get this achievement done and over with, where's my loot, where does this new vanity pet drop. Everything is pretty much handed to players instead of earned.
I went through what a friend of mine calls the 'hardest divorce ever' by completely dropping WoW. I tried to play it for a few hours a day but as time went on it became almost painful to play. Painfully boring and ultimately ESO took up more and more of my time. Now WoW is basically an overpriced facebook to me. I only remain subbed to keep in touch with friends, which now you can do with the handy dandy BS-net launcher that's supposedly soooo innovative.
So many people complain about ESO's mechanics and systems, and they ask for improvements to make it easier. But that's not making it easier. That's wanting to turn it into WoW, and in the long run that'd cause far more harm than good. If WoW conditioned people to instant gratification, then I'd like to hope ESO can do the reverse and show people the virtues of delayed gratification. Like Cookie Monster and Tom Hiddleston.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_ubVVnWglk
Well, thanks to you Sir, my irony detector didn't just go off the scale, it positively went into low earth orbit. If it hits the ISS, I will hold you responsible for damages.Dionysusjones wrote: »I really like WoW ... but now i dont play WoW... but i want every game to be WoW.... whats wrong with me?

Well done.
Yeah, good luck with that. WoW isn't the only thing out there conditioning people for instant gratification, unfortunately, and that conditioning has a tendency to bleed into everything else.
