I won't use, and don't want to see race changes.
I see people flip flopping around the races as "balances" are made to racial abilities to the current FotM. This I don't want to happen, ever.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I don't want to change race, myself, but I'd really like the ability to change some things about my existing characters. Within their current race. Things like hair color, body sizes, etc.

Most races seem created to be effective or especially good at 1-2 builds. Very few exceptions, argonians only excelling as roleplayers or Imperial being great for pretty much any build. For sure, ZoS should tweak that back and fourth a bit, to make sure passives and bonuses are comparable.

But that will not take away the need to change your race. Reason is how ZoS keeps failing to balance those builds(different races are good at) while also making massive changes to skills and game play still. Meaning many races will only be best at something that's under-performing or the build they went for no longer exists, after a major update. Having the same amount of attribute % bonus as the next guy doesn't matter, not when it's boosting the wrong recourse.

It is funny that most people are against it because " min/maxers would abuse it"... which pretty much translates to "I don't want people to have fun the way they play the game."

Honestly if I could race change I'd make my Dunmer DK a high elf or Bosmer.

My wood elf Nightblade into a Dunmer.

I have no plan to play an imperial I enjoy being an elf.

Its just a theory that if this comes in a few months later. Zos can nerf certain races in the name of balancing then do this over and over.

It will net them alot of cash because people wanting the best stats(most mmo players). Will change over and over to the new best stat race.

Personally i want to see all race stats removed. I want to see all races on equal footing.

We've been through it half a dozen times.

FOTM. Exclusivity. Elitism. Endgame and PvP != The Whole Game. Changes made in one place affect the whole population... etc. etc. etc.

I swear I should just start adding references to these threads in my sig.

TL;DR No thanks. Not in any way shape or form. Player-based fix mechanic for a Dev created problem. Devs should fix it.

Adding Race/Faction change hurts NOBODY and actually adds to the company's bottom line as many Players would use the service. To all those who are emphatically against it, the rest of us don't care about your opinion. YOU don't have to use the service if it's made available but it SHOULD be an option for those who wish to use it. It's like people saying they don't want a Burger King in their town because they won't eat there. Fine, don't eat there, but for those who would eat there let them have that option.

The exact same thing can be said for small form PvP (Arena, Battlegrounds and the like), Name change, Barber Shop, etc. Just because YOU don't want it doesn't mean there aren't Players who DO want it and would use/play it if given the choice.

changing cosmetics and such fine, add barbershop, namechange, whatever,
but NO race change, only choise that matters, u want to see everybody playing the same race? even more so then now
race passives should be tweaked and balanced a bit because some are quite bad, but if it reeeeeeaaaaaally matters that much to you, you should have tought more about it at the creation of your char, or your hardcore enough to start a new one

Race is simply a decision that should be permanent.
Please, don't ruin the game just to earn a few more bucks.
I'm not saying that THIS will ruin ESO, but after this, other things will be asked for, and gradually THAT would ruin the game.

1: most of us need to fix what Zenimax broke with recent updates and couldn't have had the insight that nearly a year after release our racial choices would be invalidated.

2: there's all of zero information about racial skills on the character creation menus- so short of making a character just to browse his or her skills only to delete them immediately afterwards what do you propose.
(Wiki/whatever obviously, but this Is information Zenimax needs to be providing upon creation.

I'm sorry but you are completely wrong here and in the minority, in ALL MMO's. There is no harm done whatsoever by having Faction and/or Race change. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's a harmful game option. I could care less if everyone plays the same Race, it means NOTHING to my experience of the game. Also, I have no intention of using Race change as I'm perfectly happy with all of my choices. However that doesn't mean it shouldn't be an OPTION for those who wish to change.

I do not like the idea of race change but If they make a huge change to how each race is structure. Then I would not mind because it would not be fair if you make a huge change the race of character and it messes up your build and you want to change into another race but this is the only reason.

While I do not give a toss about the race changes, surely many race -class combinations are not working post 1.6 however they still have a choice (eg Breton NB magicka based is still viable), we need back the Khajiit passives as they were until the day of the release.

Bring back the pre-release a Khajiit passives as they were even on the early access days. That nerf cripple the only race after Argonians without a useful passive.

You want races to be balanced. There is no relation in this to the existence of possibility to change races with Crown Store.

Please don't mix things up like this.

I agree with races balance, but we will probably see buff on most used races and nerfs on least used races. Although I would prefer all them to be on the same average so we could just chose what we want because we want, not the stats.

It doesn't matter what this poll says, ZOS is going to implement race changes. At the end of the day it doesn't affect the cry babies who don't want it, and it is money in ZOS pocket...

Instead of offering race changes, balance racials as they are without drastically changing them up, so people who chose their race to match their build don't find that their build suddenly doesn't work. I like that some choices are permanent, and your race should really be the most permanent of your permanent choices. If you do introduce race changes, then people will likely start asking for class changes as well... after all, your class seems to hold less permanence than your race, so why not?

... And if you absolutely must introduce race (and possibly class) changes, please make them cost a ton of crowns.

EDIT: To clarify, Option 4 means you want a race change because ZOS changed racials drastically or you want one IF ZOS changes racials drastically.

If you do not want to race change then do not do it dude, why would you care if they did it so OTHER people (i.e. NOT you) want to use the service? It makes the game some money, and they are happy. What kind of person would seriously have issues with how others play?

SIMPLY DO NOT USE IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO! SIMPLE!

Yeah once the soft caps were removed, I think they should take a pass at balancing the racials. I like the look of my stamina Templar Argonian, but feel as if he has been "gimped" because after the changes he is less than ideal.

Come to think of it, Less-Than-Ideal sounds like a great Argonian name!

They should completely redo the way racial passives work, so you get to pick from a pool.

    You get to pick:

    1. Attribute bonus
    a. 10% health
    b. 10% magicka
    c. 10% stamina

    2. Regen bonus
    a. 10% health
    b. 10% magicka
    c. 10% stamina

    You don't get to pick:

    3. Racial Flavor
    a. Orc Charge
    b. Dunmer Fire Resist
    c. Khajiit stealth damage bonus

It boggles my mind that people are in favor of race changes without balancing the passives or revamping them.

    Argonians will go extinct.

Then the issue is that the game itself isn't fun. If it's literally that painful to spend a month leveling up a character, then the game should be improved instead of removing the need to actually play the vast majority of it.
Changing one's race is a standard paid feature of most MMORPGs.

I've been playing MMOs since MUDs in the 90s and I have literally never seen this option. What games are you referring to?

I think it would totally ruin the game, how could they even implementing this without damaging the lore in a horrific way.

This is nonsense. In this game there is already a race change where a dunmer drinks a potion and becomes argonian. There is another case where an argonian turns into a crocodile. If you saw a player who was once a breton but then swapped to a dunmer, unless you knew that player personally you would never know they had changed. It is, quite frankly, nobodies business what players wish to do with their characters. There exists in the lore many ways to alter ones appearance, so the lore argument doesn't really hold true. Additionally, these things all have to go through lore "checks" so if it is in the game the Elder Scrolls Lore master gave it the go ahead. We also have to think about the gameplay aspect involved here, in previous ES titles race rarely held much significance beyond some fun perks and different stats. This game is a different beast to traditional ES titles and as such some of the lore will change. If all else fails, just pretend you're currently in a Dragon break and the laws of this world are no longer immutable but the dragon break will eventually end and you'll forget all about it.

In my opinion they should offer race changes, sex changes, class changes and faction changes. I do support there being a cooldown on the use of these things with race change being available every six months, sex changes as many times you want, class changes every six months and faction changes one time. If cooldowns are in effect then the only argument against such options are effectively null, even if there are coordinated shifts in player builds that's actually good for the overall meta but ultimately there is no detriment to other players.

"It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom."
