Am I allowed to dupe gold using the Console Transfer Service?

They have stated many MANY times that it is a account copy. The only things that WONT transfer are friends list and guilds. Your bank/inventory/purchased crown items/crown amount/ will transfer with you and once transferred will advance separately from your PC counterpart. Borrow all the gold you want. I am gonna do it! I am gonna borrow gold, expensive items, and crafting mats. It is going to be GLORIOUS

I imagine it will be like when characters are copied to the PTS, we'll be told roughly when it's going to start and when it's been completed but no one will be notified of the exact date/time their account will be copied.

    Emphasis mine
Yes, the goal is to have the transfer take place with enough time for people who purchased it to be able to play right when ESOTU launches on consoles. We don't have an exact date yet of when the transfer will take place, but we will definitely be sure to publicize the date of the transfer and contact anyone who purchased the offer prior to the transfer taking place.

"Prior to the transfer" meaning before, like I said. I think it's much more likely everyone who purchased the transfer will get a blanket email saying "transfers will be taking place this week" than that they're going to email each person individually to say "Your account will be transferred at 3:45pm CST on 5/24/15". (Random date.)

Which means each person who wants to do this would need to find friends willing to trust them with large amounts of gold for that whole week, and only one person in each guild/group of friends would be able to take advantage of the opportunity.

I'm not saying it's not possible to find people who will help you out with that, just a lot harder than finding people who will loan you their gold for a few minutes in return for you doing the same for them.

I really need to know this so I don't break any rules.

Will I get banned if I borrow large amount of gold from my guild members before the transfer and return the gold to them after the transfer is completed?

Since the transfer copies my characters to console server rather than moving them, I could legitimately dupe large amount of gold.

Sooo since it's a different server, unless everyone moves with you, you couldn't give it back... It's not a question of exploiting, it simply doesn't work. They already have said there is no cross server interaction.

You didn't play around launch did you? Took them almost a month to fix a duping glitch that literally destroyed the game.
Wait, it literally destroyed the game? Then what the hell have I been playing this whole time?!?
I can tell you the prices of motifs and raw materials, but you'd never believe them as a troll. I suggest youtube. The game somewhat recovered. Somewhat.
Yeah, you know what? I was here. I've been here since day 1. I know exactly what motifs and materials were going for. This never destroyed the game. Did it have a negative impact on the economy? Absolutely. Did it destroy the game? Nope. Not by a hell of a long shot. It's not even the biggest issue the game has had to overcome, and guess what? ESO has survived, and is a far, far better game now than it has ever been. Perhaps the problem is that you are literally using the word "literally" incorrectly.

Not to mention the word "destroyed".

The only problem I see with limiting the amount of cash/items that are carried over is for the people who started playing on PC with the intent of carrying over their character progress and continuing to play on the console. Why should their progress be suddenly limited due to other people trying to take advantage of the system?

I've been playing since early access (and a late-beta tester), but I did purchase the transfer and, depending on how I like the console version, may well switch to it to continue the progress I've made since day 1. So, I would be rather peeved if the gold I have been slowly building up in my bank, due to normal gameplay, would be suddenly reduced to some arbitrary limit in the transfer. I've been working on building up resources for quite some time, through normal gameplay, and have not interest in stockpiling extra rare items to ruin the console economy. I just want to have everything I've worked for be transferred over so that I can continue my progress on console if I so choose.

But, more distressing to me is the mindset behind such a post. And that such a mindset might lead to ZOS having to nerf something and ruin the benefits of the console transfer for other players. I do feel for new console players being behind, but honestly, they're in the same boat as any new PC player is.

Unfortunately, people trying to take advantage of the system for personal gain screw over honest people all the time, by forcing the system to react to their abuse. It happens in every aspect of life, and games are no different. This is why we can't have nice things.

Agreed. They should either completely remove your toons form the PC servers during the move, or just make you start over on console like everyone else. Granted, if they did the second option they'd have to worry about too many players lagging out the starting zones.

I think the guild members are the real barrier to entry for this one. They're going to have to want something in return. Paid back with interest at the very least. In writing, legally-binding, and with a deadline. Nobody over the age of two gives something away without at least trying to benefit from it in some way.

There's an easy fix to all this, though - delay the introduction of guild kiosks until three to six months after console launch. That limits the initial economy to P2P trading and keeps the high-rollers in check. There will still be stronger guilds when the kiosks appear, but time will have produced some valid competition for them.

If I were planning on playing the console version, I would pray to the magical ZOS gods to enact a few policies which are somewhat similar to what Acrolas described above. With zero limitations, it will be an absolute nightmare filled with trolls.

Characters (in the same state) copied over the selected console servers (both EU and NA)
Items (equipped to characters, in the inventory, and in the bank)
The following will not carry over from PC/Mac accounts to console accounts as part of the transfer:

    -Crowns
    -Mail
    -Guilds
    -Friends
    -Ignore list
    -Trading house
    -Raid leaderboards status
    -AvA leaderboard status
    -Deleted Items
    -Deleted Characters

The only reason they are being quiet about this, is because they don't wanna lose customers. They are aware of the issue and won't let people dupe gold or item like that, it just doesnt make sense. When the 30 day transfer limit is over they are going to tell exactly what will happen during transfer. They just don't wanna discourage people about it.

There is no way they will let people dupe gold. Just wait and see. When they have everyones money, they will tell us exactly how its going to be done. Plus, they never said gold will be transfered and will probably add some restriction to items as there is no specification.

Just my 2 cent, i could be wrong.

It's an immediately obvious idea from seeing the words "account copy", and surely part of their consideration when announcing it around a year ago. This isn't news to anyone :p.

How do you think high rollers and merchanting fans like some of us are got wealthy in the game in the beginning? Guild kiosks were introduced a very long time after launch, and the economy was based on internal trade guild transactions and zone advertisement. Heck, some of it was reputation based even, for people like me who had 50 enchanting skilled early and before it was made significantly easier (though supplies still left it as costly). I got probably 15-20 enchanting orders a night from vet rank players and especially early v10's I played with and it was very lucrative due to the rarity.

Kiosks had and have even now, little effect on that. The top action comes from private sales of the more valuable goods ranging from 100k to 250k such as tong/Hawkeye/gold healer jewelry/certain elf pieces/stormshield/stamshadow rings/ravage jewelry/light rings (those last two are around 80k typically now but continue to rise so I'm lumping them in :p) etc. and others on their way up with many more types starting to hit 40-60k like skirm and adroit necks, and the ever elusive 500k-1m ring that no longer drops more than once in a blue moon known as Warlock :p. Kiosks are just used for dumping bulk type goods or less valuable items in the 10-40k range usually as prices can be relatively fluid on higher tier goods and the 8% fee from listing+selling hurts when you move 500k of items out in a day or two :).

And loaning cash for an hour to a guildmate you know well isn't unheard of anyway. I don't do many loans but I have loaned 50 to 120k to people occasionally that I trusted were good for it when able to pay back (and did so), let alone just needing it for a day to give right back without even using for something like this copy thing that I'm sure a lot will be doing and was a readily visible design flaw with the announced system way back when. I have a loan out of 80k right now to someone who wanted to finish a gear set but doesn't make money as quickly as some... I have no question I'll see the cash back some time even if it is a few weeks, and by sticking to the real life policy of "don't lend out what you couldn't afford to lose", I don't sweat it much in the meantime and would be ok but annoyed if it never showed :).

It'll be interesting to see how the guild trader system might provide a barrier to this flood. And without a text zone chat, players' reliance on guilds to trade is all the greater.

So you have players with ill gotten gold treating the market according to the rules of the one on the PC. They're going to spread the gold around trying corner the market, and another chunk will be removed as they outbid each other for kiosk spots in Mornhold or Rawl. Shops in other cities become more popular because they don't have inflated prices. A month in the bubble bursts, issue solves itself.
