Am I allowed to dupe gold using the Console Transfer Service?

I really need to know this so I don't break any rules.

Will I get banned if I borrow large amount of gold from my guild members before the transfer and return the gold to them after the transfer is completed?

Since the transfer copies my characters to console server rather than moving them, I could legitimately dupe large amount of gold.

I can't see why not if your guild would allow it. Not many guilds are that trustworthy though.

They are in different PVP campaigns, though? So not competing

There had to be one who pointed this out....
So now they might add limits to how much gold gets copied or change some items like gold as a move instead of copy.

Correct me if I am wrong but if you do the transfer is not your account transferred and thus your pc characters would no longer exist?

Awesome idea, I don't see how the developers can stop you from doing this, unless you are duping millions of gold, and it is obvious that you plannig to exploit the system......

Unless the guild member is a close friend, or family member, why would a guild member lend you large amounts of gold? Are you going to pay interest on the gold?

It did not destroy the game for me. And, no I did not Dupe anything, I never even knew it was a thing to do. I was too busy learning the game to exploit anything like this.

If the character is deleted from PC, obviously not, if it's copied, then you could, but it wouldn't matter because it's two different megaservers, so your Console character would have a large sum of gold but there'd be no way to get it back on PC.

I didn't get the memo. Is the player's account copied or moved to the console server?

I assumed in my previous reply the it was copied, but yes I think moving the account would make duping pointless, and you couldn't give the gold back to the PC loan shark.

Yeah, you know what? I was here. I've been here since day 1. I know exactly what motifs and materials were going for. This never destroyed the game. Did it have a negative impact on the economy? Absolutely. Did it destroy the game? Nope. Not by a hell of a long shot. It's not even the biggest issue the game has had to overcome, and guess what? ESO has survived, and is a far, far better game now than it has ever been. Perhaps the problem is that you are literally using the word "literally" incorrectly.

All the OP needs to do is have the barrowed gold in his possession when the character copy occurs. Gold amount is copied to console server making him rich, and since its a copy he returns the barrowed amount to his guild on the original server.

IMO, this is a dupe.

Everything in your account will get copied over except for guilds and anything you have selling in the guild bank. Once that is done you will have two accounts with duplicate characters, a PC account, and a Console account.The Pc accounts and console accounts are not connected in any way, so the whole gold duplication issue is really a none issue. You will not have twice the gold, you will simply have two accounts with the exact same amount of gold that cannot combine.

Edit, @Nyghthowler, that is not a duplication, that is an outright exploit that will almost certainly cause anyone who tries to do that to loose both accounts.

With the servers being separate, Im pretty sure the mail system will be separate aswell, meaning you cant physically have any contact with people between PC and consoles.

It's stated in the q&a page in the topic about the character transfer that it is a COPY. Meaning your accounts-characters, items, gold-are copied over to the console servers. You can still play on your PC characters, but their progress will be separate once they've been copied to the console servers.

I would guess any such "duplicate money" action would be considered exploiting the system for an unfair advantage by the PTB, and result in consequences if they notice - which they would as soon as they check their server logs. So I'd advise against it... not worth the possible repercussions.

He isn't asking about transferring gold cross-server. That is obviously impossible.

Given the way ZO$ set up the console transfer there is absolutely no way they can do something against that. Not even voice any concern. You pay them cash for the transfer == you can bring all the stuff (gold) you want.

Might not be a "fair" way to get rich but honestly... who is NOT doing it is just beyond... stupid.
Console server's economy (and VR PvP) was already doomed for everybody not flying in loaded from PC the second Z announced their server transfer copy service.

Quite a few are misunderstanding the process so I will spell it out to those that cant figure it out for themselves.

1. I borrow a lot of gold from my guild mates.
2. I now have lots of gold in my PC account.
3. ZOS copies me to a CONSOLE account.
4. I now have lots of gold in PC AND CONSOLE account [double the amount conbined].
5. I now return the gold I borrowed using the PC account.
6. I keep the gold that was copied to the CONSOLE account.

As only 1 person can use all the gold from the store at duplication time....the only person likely to benefit from this is the guild owner.

I'm not sure, for what you need a large amount of gold anyways. It's not like there is anything expensive worth buying at all. No housing for example.
