Should ESO have an option to change a characters name?

Yes

I belive crown store would be the best option for name changing.
Something between 100 and 500 crowns would be reasonable.

I know a lot of games want to discourage people doing it too often, either because it's extra work for the server to change it or simply because they want people to be identifiable by character name but they could make it some system that makes it undesirable to do it too often, whilst still making it possible.

For example charging gold to change it and maybe even make it an increasing fee each time (character based rather than account based obviously).

These are all services people have come to expect from MMOs and even single player games.

Should be allowed to completely redo everything that is done in the character creation screen (without losing progress). This includes hair, scars, tattoos, facial looks, race, (not sure what I think on class or faction....there could be balance or other issues that appear with these two items..) name etc....some should be free some could be a small charge, major changes such as faction, race, class etc... Should have a cool down (maybe 30 days). This would be especially useful for rp community also.

@purple-magicb16_ESO for rp....clothing appearances are tied to minimum level and we kill lots of characters ....its a pain to level up a 39 each time you want to kill a personality so that you can equip the appearance you want for the character...and yes we need new races on our characters also and sometimes like to earn champion points (so don't give me the you should delete and reroll speil).

I voted yes because I strongly favor having the ability to rename characters. Especially all you Argonians running around with your hyphenated names. Looking all important.

I could totally make it my life's work to dehyphenate names.

Also, I'm on board with the whole barber concept. I'd pay quite a bit to be able to change my hairstyle.

yes, that is what i was told, infact it was also suggested to me by them that i could simply "delete" my v14 character and make a new one and that would help me in getting a new character name

Why would we need to be able to change our character name? Isn't that what "Delete" is for? Allowing a name change would IMO introduce more trolls. It would be far easier to rip off other players if all someone had to do was change their name. I'm not saying that anyone who voted yes would need it for that reason. Just my thoughts on it.

My character started out with just a first name. He had recently lost his father to war and had no desire to be reminded of that loss.

Now? Now he has a home again, and a surname that he is proud of.

I don't so much want a name change for him as much as I want a name addition.

I made my main during pre-release, using a name I found very cool, from Skyrim.... or so I thought. Turns out it was a major character in ESO *facepalm* Must have seen it in beta and it stuck in my head. I feel silly running around with an NPC name. I even have my name on the map!

sigh. I feel like a lowly unoriginal copycat, like Drizzzt or something. I really wish I could change it.

I think the key thing in a store should be Name Change.. I'm still on the wall with Appearance Recustomization, I personally still think that should also be something that can be acquired by gold, even if they make it a high amount..

I need to correct a typo in my character's name very badly! When I noticed, I couldn't create a new character with exactly the same looks, and I really love my character's looks, I simply can't exchange her for a different personality. I'm prepared to pay for the name correction, if necessary.
Concerning appearance: personally, I don't need a change of appearance for any of my characters right now, but I think such a possibility should exist, too, for those who need it.
As people said earlier, players see each other via the username, so a change of character's name or appearance shouldn't be a problem for other players.

Yes - in a spasm of "ready fire aim" I named my Bosmer after a Kzinti - he should have been a Khajiit - name change or race change - either works for me...

I tried to do this. ZOS suggested I delete my VR14 character. I'm not going to delete her because of her name! They obviously are able to change the name for your character, but they simply refuse to do it. In fact, before the game launched character name changes was a promised feature. It is (or was) possible to change your UserID, but for some reason they refuse to change character names.

Your account name never changes (nor should it) and it's usually easy enough to find out who plays a character. Though I do think you should be able to right click on a character's name and see their gamer tag to make it that much simpler. Which they refuse to do anyway. Requests for name changes are routinely rejected and that is their stated policy. I'd LOVE to see name changes available for gold at the bank. You'd buy them from the banker who would tell you something like, "I'll be happy to register the paperwork for your name change for X gold. Just don't think this is going to allow you to elude the law! All name changes are registered with the Crown!"
