Then we had a look at the recount logs, and saw that I did 480k+ damage, and my friend did 630k+ damage. Therefore, in order to kill that sorc, we dealt more than 1100k damage.
So, I can understand your frustration about the nirn stuff. But the top priority is to balance the game and solve the shield stacking issue first. Magicka classes are ridiculously overpowered because of that.
Most MMO's (this works)
Melee is weak to spells, but not to other melee
Casters are weak to melee, but not to other casters
This MMO after 1.6 (doesn't work)
Casters are weak to everything
Melee is weak to nothing
Isn't there a straight up 20% damage reduction buff that every player gets when entering cyrodiil?Eh, I think changing this would require other parts of the game to be changed. The reason there are spell penetration passives on things like weapons, armor passives and champion passives is to equalize this a bit and why there are not as many armor penetration options as there are spell resist penetration ones.
Except the existing Spell Penetration options *do not work* well.
I was doing Spell Penetration testing on a *Vampire* (+9%) Sorc with 7500(The bare minimum possible without being naked) spell resist using Light Armor (~5000 penetration), 2% Spell Erosion, Legendary Nirnhoned Staff (18% Spell Penetration) and my spells were hitting for 83% of tooltip damage instead of 109%.
Someone testing against me with a single puncture ability virtually pierced all 12000 of my armor and was hitting me for almost maximum tooltip damage.
Sharpened and Nirnhoned penetration bugs masked the true issue of ridiculous resistance levels and without these bugs Magic damage is extremely weak.
Well I've switched 2 of my pieces to Nirnhoned and am now rocking over 20K spell resistance. Going to switch out the other 2 pieces tonight. The best part is it *stacks* with freaking lightning form. If you think a sorc is hard kill with damage shields, wait until you see one rocking maximum spell resistance while he ignores casters and focuses down anything hitting him with physical damage.
This is so laughably OP in any other case other than ZoS doing this I'd be actually amazed this made it into a live version of the game.

Only reason a full burst dmg sorc does 1k CRIT FRAG PROC with MAGES guild passive dmg upon casting entropy 20% dmg. On a NON shielded DK, TEMP, NB. (havent done it to a sorc yet. which is funny because they would get hit with the least dmg yeh?) Even if they had 32k spell resist, (50% mitigation) i have 16k spell pen. That would bring them around 25% mitigation yeah? Just throwing a number out there but even 4k would seem a little low. 1k is like..... 1.5 spec.

After looking at todays patch notes, My Sorc, my main, (that i have been playing exclusively since beta) will not set 1 foot in Cyrodiil until this is addressed. I am so glad im getting close to the light at the end of the tunnel with my my stamina Templar. My Sorc will now run pledges and occasional trials and nothing else.
When this is fixed, i'll bring my Sorc back out, until then. Nah....

My Sorc is still running train in Cyro. Sure, there is the occasional tanky player I cannot beat, but 99% of the player base is not running full nirnhoned and are still very vulnerable to my 10k base damage Frags.

are you checking cls after?
I see a lot of barriers in my logs of doing crap dmg.
Well based on what Gina Bruno just said Balance changes aren't coming for a long while.
If everyone isn't using Nirnhoned yet, you're guaranteed to get a few extra months enjoyment at least out of it before they bother to fix it....and that is assuming of course the console release goes smoothly. What could possibly go wrong with that?
I just wish I could put Nirnhoned on more than 4 pieces right now.
