Typical tech support would ask why haven't you upgraded your video drivers.
Untypical tech support would ask you why you haven't overclocked your E6850 yet (probably can't because it is a HP desktop system).
Well, according to my NVidia update wizard, I am up to date. Also, as noted, all was dandy before the upgrade.
The video card driver in your system was released in 2013, nearly two years ago. You might want to go to the Nvidia site and grab the latest version for your 560 Ti.

Updated a few months ago but will check again. Still note, however, that all was fine prior to latest update.

Got an email from ZoS today. If anyone is running 32bit Windows and crashing, this is why:
"The cause of the crashing is that Update 6 included a lot of graphical improvements into the game, namely with ability animations and particle effects. It also included some optimization improvements. 32-bit operating systems, like the one that you're running, are locked to a maximum of 3GB of accessible system RAM. This is a physical limitation of 32-bit operating systems, and why new OS's are mostly released in 64-bit versions.
With Update 6, the game requests more than the 3GB of available RAM and crashes on 32-bit operating systems. In previous update iterations of the game, this amount of RAM wasn't requested, which is why your client was more stable."

Get a 64bit OS.
This crashing is not restricted to 32bit OS, so just because these guys lack the means to keep up with today's technology, us 64bit people crashing should not be ignored.

Windows 10 is an upgrade for your Windows OS license, it will not upgrade you to 64bit if you have 32bit. Windows 10 has it's on archaic 32bit version.
ZOS_MollyH wrote: »Hi @Xael ,
What processor are you running, and how many cores? Since you have a 64 bit OS and not a 32 bit one, this may help resolve some of your crashing problems. Sometimes higher-end hardware can have a difficult time evenly distributing game data, and limiting which cores are active for ESO:TU can help in many cases.
Open C:\Users\Your Username Here\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live (or liveeu for EU server)
Locate your UserSettings.txt file
Locate the following strings, which may have a different number at the end, and make sure you change them to the following:
SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"
Save, and try again to see if it helps!
Thank you everyone for the information being posted! The causes, solutions, and potential solutions are likely going to be different for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems, so this helps narrow down troubleshooting steps. We are actively researching these crash reports, and we hope to have further troubleshooting steps soon.
As always, if you are in contact with a Customer Support agent and your troubleshooting steps are not resolving your issue, please be sure to let the agent know so they can provide you with additional troubleshooting specific to your system!

Not each key. OEM-keys are for one specific copy of Windows only.sean.plackerb14_ESO wrote: »They would have to do a reformat but a Windows vista/7/8/8.1 product key is good for either a 32 bit or 64 bit install. There is no sep 32 bit key or 64 bit key.

Exactly. The 60.00 game you purchased last year that ran perfectly, along with the 15.00/mo sub, has now incurred a 500.00+ one time (for now) fee. Change your 32bit system to 64bit to now play the game. And when pricing on how to do so, you'll see that 500.00 is on the lucky side. You'll need to purchase a new 64bit OS, MOBO, RAM, CPU, and maybe a new case to fit the new MOBO (which is the least expensive). May as well and spend a few more bucks for a bigger SSD too? They are cheap now. I had to do it, and the game is just as fun as it was back in the day (a whole year ago LOL) Runs perfectly now.
Have fun, and good luck everyone.
Nvidia Video Card.
Open the Nvidia control panel. This can be done usually by clicking the appropriate icon in the bottom right of the computer on the Task Bar. You can also right-click directly on your desktop and you should see Nvidia Control Panel in the list.
Under 3D settings, select the Manage 3D Settings. The Manage 3D Settings window displays on the right.
Click the Program Settings tab at the top in the Window on the right.
Your first step is to select a program to customize. Click the drop down and select eso.exe.
Your second step shows a list of settings for the program. We need to look for the Feature Power Management Mode and change the option on the right to Prefer maximum performance.
At the bottom select Apply and close out of the Nvidia Control Panel.
Locate and access the Usersettings.txt file
By default this file is located here:
C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
or
C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu
Find the line SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" or SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9" in the file. Change the line to: SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OPENGL". Please save the file after making the change.
SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"
That is sure a lot of hoops to jump thru there.Threemoons wrote: »Okay, folks, MAY have found a fix for people with Vista Win32/NVidia Ti560 (or possibly other NVidia cards). Did all of the following song and dance that follows and MAY have a fix--played for 6 hours solid last night, NO crashies.
Zenimax, also including links to some glitches that MAY point to the reason why folks may have problems. So, please contact me to bang this out further if it can help people.
Give yourself an hour or so for fixes, reboots, retries, etc and read on...
First and foremost, go here:
forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/105574/known-technical-issues-troubleshooting-pc#latest
Do what it says.
Especially important: Make sure you do this for NVidia cards, after you have done a CLEAN install of the latest driver:Nvidia Video Card.

Your second step shows a list of settings for the program. We need to look for the Feature Power Management Mode and change the option on the right to Prefer maximum performance.
At the bottom select Apply and close out of the Nvidia Control Panel.
Do NOT try running the game yet.
Reboot to get the change to take.
Now you're gonna start playing with your User Settings. MAKE A BACKUP COPY FIRST. Do this by finding the user settings (more below), copying it and pasting it in the same folder. Name the new copy something else, like foosetting.txt or similar. That way, if you totally screw things up, you have an original copy, just rename it to the proper file name.
Okay, got your copy made? Now do this:Locate and access the Usersettings.txt file
By default this file is located here:
C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
or
C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu
Find the line SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" or SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9" in the file. Change the line to: SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OPENGL". Please save the file after making the change.
Save the live copy that you just edited.
Now also do this:SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"
Save.
That allegedly takes care of multithreading issues and the dreaded 3.x gig limit stuff.
Also, for good measure, find and delete the "shadercache.cooked" file, or if you're uncomfortable deleting it, just rename it temporarily.
NOTE: I had constant crashes with other MMORPGs a while ago, and found that generally, dumping the shader cache--whatever they call it specifically, for ANY game--greatly aided performance.
Now, you're going to do a minimal boot for gaming. I do this all the time for all my MMORPGs. I'm running an old box, which I have jollied along for years, and I do NOT have the money to upgrade right now (as do many of us), and I don't even need to, as I can run many other games just fine. Here's what you do:
- On the START menu, type in RUN
- type in msconfig
- You will see this:
You're going to want the Selective Startup radio button.
- Go to the Services tab. Click the "Hide all Microsoft Services" box.
THEN do "Disable All" and selectively recheck (to load) ONLY stuff directly related to the game--anything NVidia and Steam is all I have, if you have a fancy schmancy keyboard or mouse don't forget to load those services also.
- Okay, now you go to the Startup tab. Same thing, disable all, and only enable gaming stuff (in this case you can see my IdeaZon keyboard that I use for Age of Conan and my NVidia stuff, that's IT for me). See here:
- Hit OK. You will be prompted for a restart, do it.
- But wait, you're NOT done yet! When you get rebooted, go back to that start menu and type in RUN and then %TEMP%. Looks like this:
Throw out EVERYTHING in that folder. Some things will still be in use and you'll be prompted to skip em or try again, just skip over them.
- Now empty your trash.
ALMOST THERE.
Now, if you haz Norton or other antivirus software, put it into silent mode. Ditto for any calendar reminders (like Google Services, screensavers, and any other things that may pop up, bork your screen, or otherwise interfere with the gaming experience or make your machine have to do anything harder than walking or chewing gum at the same time.
NOW fire the game up.
WAIT! Don't freak out; you may see broken login screens like this:
https://imgur.com/a/mJzGT Do NOT freak out. Also, on the login screen, you MAY see some ugly boxes, pixellation, etc and be unable to see or fix options. If you make it this far, sally forth...
Your character login screen, once it comes up (and do give it time especially the first time you fire it up) should be normal. Again, if you try to access settings and other items, it may be pixellated/bad looking, but your character selection options should all be good.
You did it (hopefully).
GOOD LUCK and I hope this helps people.
Let me know here if it works.
Zenimax, please see why the pixellation is occurring. It may hold the key as to why some folks can't get the OpenGL option to work.
