Because when you team up you're missing out on half of the potential AP. It's really as simple as that.

Good sportsmanship starts with the individual. It's not always returned or appreciated, but it is its own reward.
More GG, less QQ, makes the game a better place to be.

Naturally, but it's a two-way street.
I have found many opposing leaders to be amiable, and I enjoy having friendly relations with them. Good for PvP, says I. But there's only so much you can do with people who respond to anything with insults or accusations of cheating . It's just poor sportsmanship and ain't no one got time for that. I think these forums show there's plenty of people willing to blame anything and everything on EP groups, straight to accusations of malicious cheating/hacking/lagging, whatever. It's a toxic atmosphere and it frankly isn't on anyone to fix but the people spreading it.
I'm not going to GG or GF people calling me a cheater to my face. You've run in my groups, you know what we're about. Why would we have any interest in engaging with people like that?
Plenty of good sports out there (some blue groups especially, Prett and Pain in the Axe always good for post-combat ERP!) but the sheer amount of nonsense spreading about just ruins it for everyone.
Satiar, what makes YOU so flat out insistent there are absolutely no players exploiting the lag and or causing it? Are you the all knowing, all seeing eye in the sky? Your certainty is bothersome to me. You can't possibly know for absolute certain *nobody* is playing dirty.

There's a lot of things that EP needs to start proactively doing on Thornblade to encourage competition to return (and no I'm not touching the lagsploiting issue -- first and foremost, ZOS has to fix that):
1. Stop locking the server early and late. There's little incentive to log in against a locked population as one-two bars of opposition to get crushed.
2. Give up ground. Stop opening gates when there's no scrolls behind them and let them take some home keeps back.
3. Stop gate camping -- especially with big organized teams that are just smashing kittens. Guild groups slaughtering VR2s and level 39s jumping out of spawn just makes the situation worse.
4. Spread out. Seriously, EP need to stop all playing on Thornblade. And some groups just need to take time off and go run HelRa/AA/VetDSA or something.
Stop accusing your opposition of crying and start listening. Some of them have a point.
I concur. However if you have noticed on NA prime time the only campaign that isnt pop locked by EP is haderus. This was true all weekend. granted only thorns queue is full potato.
I was looking around Thorn a little this weekend (and espousing my manifesto in zone chat a bit) and EP's really... not what it used to be. I remember a machine with multiple guilds working in tandem to achieve a goal. Hijinx and PR and Pride and IR and Vokundein all working and talking to each other to guard this keep, hit that keep, protect choke points, etc. Now... There's a lot of warm bodies but the organization seems to have scattered.
Oh, and an awful lot of smack talk about EP "owning" Thornblade.
I remember that type of crap getting sent in /tells to me about Bloodthorn ("get off our server, scrub" "you'll never be emperor." "we're calling in everyone to dethrone you" "just stop logging in and go away" "we don't want competition we want you gone" were some of the nicer ones). Wasn't true then, isn't true now.

I run with Havoc when I can, some good friends there. I see them get accused of it when we're all without working skills, watching our friends log off in frustration because they can't freaking PVP. And then we get blamed for causing lag and purposely making the game unplayable.
And I can go on, if you want. It's just very frustrating to me when we get blamed for things we hate, for things we have lost friends over (good people quit over unplayable lag). We get blamed in stupid circumstances, when we're out numbered and can't use our siege to equalize, but somehow we wanted it to lag so we lose our scroll and can't fight back?
The hate is blind and freaking mindless. Some people say we Zerg so lag favors us, and we use it to take advantage. Some people say they have us dead to rights with bigger numbers but we used the lag to win with our smaller group. There's no winning with this line of thought.
I'm comfortable in speaking for the majority of organized EP when I say we want good fights and good fun. We like to win but lag is Not Fun. It is frustratimg, it is infuriating. I watch People come on here and blame groups and individuals for purposely lagging the game while I'm in their TS, watching those blamed individuals logging off in frustration over how in playable it is.
So whatevs. Tired of watching friends get blamed for nonsense.

I agree about the lag finger pointing.
I do think certain groups cause it more than others, but I would attribute that to a play style that is harder on the servers rather than to an intent to cheat/hack/lagsploit/whatever.
If it makes you feel any better, most big, good, or god forbid big and good groups have been accused of that stuff.
Basically, if you run a decent size group, you cause lag, if you run a lot of AOE (which is the most effective way to run), you cause lag, if you do both, you cause a lot of lag.
Players on the opposing faction tend to notice that, at the same time as they may be noticing that you just zerged them down/ wrecked them, and they draw some logical, if inaccurate, conclusions. And of course, there are ways to use the lag to your advantage, and some players/groups are not above doing so, which adds a nice element of motive to the lagsploit theories.
Players who stupidly troll about it publicly just add to the controversy, I've had to tell a few people in our groups to shut up because today's sarcastic, "Alright everyone, now jump on the flag and LAG!" is tomorrow's "Proof Decibel intentionally lags the servers!" forum post.

You get ap, xp, and gold bonus gains from holding your home keeps as well as enemy keeps and the inner ring. So to me it seems counter-productive to allow the enemy to just breeze on through your stuff because you want to set up a nice tower farm clear on the opposite side of the map. Yesterday EP were within seconds of crowning emp, and we lost ALL of our ring keeps in under an hour because almost 2/3 of the existing EP population refused to defend ANYTHING. We even lost Arrius and came close to losing Kings and our one scroll, and the only reason we persisted was because those do-nothings deigned to get off their asses and help defend the keep. You're not going to tell me that there's any valid reason why pop-locked EP should lose so much in such a short period of time to pop-locked DC, unless everyone and their mom are off doing delves or skyshard runs.
Another thing that really grates me is the utter lack of communication in zone chat. Yes I know people are worried about spies and the like, but information is not exclusive. There's no reason why players can't call out "oh hey I was picking herbs and I ran into a 20+ EP raid heading to our scroll keep" or "Hey I just arrived in BRK and there's 20 DC siege doing a 50/50". We lost Ash, Ales, Bleakers, Chalman. BRK, Sej, and Alessia almost back to back because absolutely no one saw fit to relay information, or even respond when it was called.
Which EP guilds came to AS? I know my guild (Pride of the Pact) homed there at 6pm CST yesterday and we (16-20 players) were the ones doing the emp push (fellow guildy was #1) only to watch it fail when Aleswell wasn't/couldn't be defended. As frustrating as it is to see happen.......I just don't see where your post is going to get anyone to want to communicate with you going forward! Those arrogant *** guilds have been there to assist emp pushes when called upon and correct me if I'm wrong but y'all probably have never crowned an emp without said guilds coming over to assist.....rub those ears and repeat after me....WUUUUUUSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Also....who are you so I can put a name to the toon.

And my guild is no longer homed on Thorn so your accusations need to be directed elsewhere.

Last time I was on Thorn, about 3 days ago, "Unknown Pointy Eared Character" and his band were camping the faction entry area. Not the scroll gates mind you, the area just outside of the starting area.
Ridiculous. He was Emp too.

they probably go sick of all the lag.........................that they were causing ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
What do you mean you lag out every time you encounter a certain group in Thornblade?
What do you mean you lag out every time you encounter a certain group in Thornblade?
Was on thorn for raid night tonight and a funny thing happened.
It was basically our one guild with 2 24 man groups for yellow, vs the entire EP faction at most objectives. At some of them our 40-50 would encounter 60+ reds. There was no lag. How can this be? No lag on Thornblade.
Wat?
Then we picked up a scroll... and a certain group who was farming on Haderus dropped the scroll they were farming and came to thorn to defend their last 2 emp keeps.
As soon as they arrived, lag city. We lost most of the map, they must have gotten bored and left. We took the remaining 30 and stayed on for another few hours fighting about equal numbers... with again, no lag.
So my question is this, logically, what is the conclusion?
Where did this sudden lag come from? And why did it disappear? The only variable was that group.
