I updated and launched the game a couple times after the update this morning which were just a few minutes when the server went back online but *now* this evening all I get is error 209, myself. What's the deal with this? So earlier it was fine but now I am no longer allowed because I have a version error?

I hear nothing but bad from hitting Repair and can cause corruption to the point of having to uninstall and wait for the d/l again for hours/days. Rather not take that route. Can I please get pushed to my client that it is indeed the correct version being that it WAS the correct version this morning.

Tried that. Did not work so set it all back to how it was being it never had to have any of them steps to use/start the Launcher previously. So far my fix is to close and open the launcher until it finally gives me the [Play] button. Seems to be around 5-15% of the time it *will* work. The rest of the tries (open/close) either want me to Repair or Install (wtf?).

With that said once I do finally get the play button I have to press it at lightning speed before it changes into the Repair button. The client (game itself) will play just fine if I make it to this point.

I really doubt there's something wrong with the patch or version I have. It is most likely that whatever the launcher is connecting to on Start Up is simply getting the wrong Meta Data being sent to it OR not getting it therefore the Launcher Server (?? lol) is doing something wrong.

If you run the repair, and it fails... The repair button should switch back to play. It os safe to play as long as you have downloaded the patch. I get this every time there is maintenance.

I should point out that I have had to run the repair process through twice on occasion to get the play button up.

Yep Run as Admin worked for me.

Never mind it came back. Why can't they make a patch that works. Last time this happened I had to uninstall and start clean. But that was back in beta. Come on guys please fix it by tomorrow!

Once you have successfully patched to the latest version, you need to bypass the launcher all together. The location will be system-dependent but find the file called eso.exe in your game directory and make a shortcut to it on the Desktop or on the Taskbar so you can avoid the launcher nonsense.

This happened to me as well. I tried most of the stuff but ended up deleting a couple files in the X86 folders. I don't have access at the moment and am waiting for the game to re verify and download any missing files.

I'll update with more info and a link to the place I found the info when I get home from work.

Try launching eso.exe directly and skip the stupid launcher.

    C:\\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe

If the game launches and runs fine, then the problem is the launcher, not the client. You can, if you want, place a shortcut to the installation on your desktop.

i normally just hibernate my PC and thought the 27 day up time was the problem. that being said the launcher is always up. afte ri closed and restarted the launcher the issue went away.

I've gotten these errors after every patch since the last 1.6 PTS patch. This CODE DUMPSTER of a game continues to be filled with the most crap code ever (think of those buckets of food waste from fast food).

*points out the dirty stinky water pooling away from the code dumpster*

That's the stuff that causes all them repairs, LOL, you know code that somehow won't stay inside of the dumpster!

This error can appear due to interference with your virus or firewall protection. One solution is thus to disable the protection while patching or repairing.

Every time the game updates, this happens, and it keeps happening for days after the patch. It seems that the launcher is very sensitive to the patch server either not responding or responding too slowly with that "patch manifest" to determine the current version. The launcher's wildly incorrect behavior in that case is to suggest that the game is broken and needs a lengthy repair, not that the server may be taking too long to respond to a request when it is busy serving the patch to thousands of other clients. This is utterly bad programming that annoys thousands of customers for no reason.

As several people have said above, the repair is not needed. Just restart the launcher and hope to get the "Play" button once in a blue moon, or run the eso.exe directly.

On 2 systems I patched I received the patch manifest error at the end of the process and received the Repair button. Rather than clicking repair I closed the launcher and then restarted the launcher and the Play button was there. The game started fine.

TLDR: Don't click Repair, close Launcher, restart launcher.
