Dunno, Radiant Magelight is basically required to prevent stealth blowups. Everyone wants to focus on their dps numbers, nobody cares about their survivability. *Sigh*, sounds like a lot of people I run with.
Seriously.... makes you immune to stealth stuns, reduces damage from stealth attacts by ~55%? And for everyone around you too? Plus 10% crit? The utility on it is godly. If you run a pvp group, even a small one someone should be running it.

Ahh I had forgotten (or overlooked) the group benefit. How far is the range of protection? I really don't do the whole nut-hug the crown strategy. I typically am playing bait (sometimes dead bait ) = ) for my group to split our enemies up or otherwise keep them focused on me instead of the train wreck about to happen to them.

I haven't tested the range, but I have always assumed its the range of the magelight effect (would make sense)

If that's the case (the small radius) then it's even more useless than the Inner Light morph for PvP. At least I actually use the other morph for PvE and it makes a visible difference to my DPS.
I mean if there's 3-4 people hugging a crown for the buff, what kind of nutcase ganker has a go at that? Just hug the crown without Magelight and no-one will have a go at you anyway! XD
From my Sorc point-of-view, Defensive Rune and a pre-cast Hardened Ward are the best protection against gankers anyway, imo.
I played around with Revealing flare for a long time in early 1.6. The arc of the projectile is way too high, you can't reliably use it on obstacles that are a higher altitude than you (it's almost like a siege weapon in that respect) and the DoT morph of it is completely mitigated by cloak. It's a fun ability against newbs but once everyone learned what it did it is an easy thing to avoid. I dare you to try finding a nightblade that just cloaked 5 feet in front of you with it. I have to guess the direction they're going *and* be lucky with it to hit them. I found that 9 times out of 10 with me spamming that they escaped me so I switched to and started using for the first time ever Detect pots. 40+ seconds of me bolting around in an ever increasing seach pattern will get that night blade 9 out of 10 times.

The kind of nutcases that zerg down a small group. Ever been in a huge fight and some gankers off to the side completely safe lethal arrow spammed? I'm just going to go ahead and say its happened to you even if you think noits inevitable. You can be stealth attacked from range so that point is only partially true.
Sure the range is small, but if you're running a smallish or tight knit group, 1-2 of you running this will have its benefit. Even if its not on everyone, everywhere. As a healer I am a priority target and it will always be protecting me, protecting others is just a perk.

It´s a crap ability by design as its a toggle. I love the functionality but i refuse to use toggles in this game. Utterly stupid, boring, mind numbing, idiotic mechanic in a 10 skillslot game.

I run it. Renders stealth attacks and archers useless. Plus it gives you more max magicka and more magicka regen due to mage guild passive magicka controller.
RML us godly you get:
More crit
Can see hidden players
Insane stealth damage reduction
Can be stunned by stealth attacks
More max magic due to MG passive.
More Regen due to MG passive
So you get 6 positive benefits for one skill, there is simply no reason to not run it. Best two slots I ever spent.
I can get close to 50% critical right now and I don't even have the champ passive yet, can't wait to get that one.
