In the six months since the huge drop in player numbers was apparent we forgot just how flaky the mega-server tech. was, now numbers are clearly back to where they were for the first 6 months we have been painfully reminded of it.

Worse, we now have client lockups at times for 10s of seconds, everything freezes except sound/music, regular 999+ lags (I don't actually recall seeing those with such frequency before March.

The megaserver wasn't that flaky during the first 5-6 months except maybe the first two weeks where I had lots of d/c and had to contend with buggy quests and phasing.
Infinite loading screens were a problem for many for MONTHS last year, like they are now. 'Flaky' means unreliable and infinite loading screens in my book is 'unreliable'.

I've only been playing since early February but I haven't noticed any of these problems. Once yesterday I had a weird moment when NPCs and objects loaded in before the walls of the building or ground, so it looked like it was all floating in the sky, but it finished loading before I could get a screenshot.

Definitely not had any crashes or infinite loading screens or anything like that.

I have had no problems associated with launch of Unlimited and the new influx of players has so far only been good.

My loading screens aren't too long aside from the initial log in. I've had loads of combat related bugs (such as Aedric Spear freezing my character) but nothing that would be related to population. It's more or less the same for me as it's always been.

Since late February I have often had to ALT-TAB out to kill an infinite loading screen which I hadn't seen so frequently since last autumn.

And no, it's not my PC or my internet connection, I play on three PCs and use two ISPs at the same time on occasion, at times I have seen the same 'hang' on both, I see the same frequent 999+ latency figures on both (PVE, not Cyrodiil), I hadn't so regularly seen that before this year.

I also get total client freezes as I noted earlier, on both, NEVER saw that before 1.6.5.

First I like to point out that this is one of hundreds of topics on this issue since ESO launched last year.

Second, the rule of the thumb is if you always had problems while playing ESO then most likely, its your computer, network, ISP connection, or your IPS' routing, and etc.

Third, if you have intermittent problems playing at the same to of day (time of day can affect internet traffic) then most likely, its a problem with the ESO servers.

I usually play at 3 am EST on week days, and I find my self in the third category. Some days are perfect, and other days the game is unplayable. Since my system never changes and I play at non-peak internet times (in the USA), I assuming that its ESO causing the issue. I can play BF4 at the same time of day will no problems with every video option maxed out on 64 player maps.

If you can play other internet games (at the same time of day) with the same graphic settings as ESO and experience no problems than its not a problem with your system. The only exception may be the distance and route your Internet traffic takes to reach the ESO servers.

Gawd.....Not just Cyrodiil, Rawl Kha is another bad spot to jump into too asides from Eldan Root Grathwood especially during Prime time. If I forgot to park my alt in another city, it's most likely I will get the eternal loading screen or the <<1>> error . I have a year old high gaming machine built just for ESO. I am seeing the game performance deteriorate since 1.3 when I started pvping in Cyrodiil but on the PVE side was pretty much unaffected. But right after 1.4 , Cyrodiil gotten worse and PVE end game trials begin to lag and occasionally crash. With current 1.6 .... Well.... All threads are out there now describing the problem widely spread out both in PVP and PVE .... I upgraded my internet to the highest speed Fios connection with the premium fee..... Still the same prob... It even lags out there in the open world in a low populated zone (like Stros M'Kai for AD vet zone).

While some said, there's no prob in the game with long load screen....it does create a good amount of annoyance to many players all day, everyday....

*** trying to get inside the keep to defend if enemy zergs broke into courtyard, long loading screen....when screen finally loaded, I'm dead on the floor.

*** long loading screen for everyone in my group while getting daily pledges and entering the dungeons usually takes around a good 20 mins to set up asides from the usual Group Leader bug.

I love this game, haven't found another MMO game I care about...yet...so I will continue to sub here. One can only hope ZOS can find someone to help them to solve the problem. The problem is getting old now.... With influx of new players, tons of trolling in zonechat and players running around grabbing the resources around you while leaving you killing the mobs standing next to the resources and constant ninja invites to their Guild are still tolerable.... But bugs and lag and crashes and endless loading screen, it's more frustrating.

I don't think the problem gotten worse when sub was removed.... I think the game performance has not been addressed properly all this while. The B2P wasn't implemented immediately till 2 weeks (March 17) after 1.6 was released (March 4) but the problems many players including myself experiences has been escalating daily on the first week of 1.6 before B2P.

I've seen some occasional lag, but overall I've been enjoying the game every day without problems.

Spent a fair amount of time in PvP as well. That's where I encountered the worst lag, there and banking about in Shornhelm.

Even in those places it was occasional and short-lived.

subbed since day one, played since beta.

in two days time i've experienced the infinite loading screens, falling through the world 2x and being caught inside the floor of a courtyard once - while being pummeled by npcs as well as being caught underwater yesterday watching a bear walk on said water as he killed me, very slowly - evidently i was almost deep enough to survive. i sent zeni a dead screen shot and you can see the bear's feet standing on the surface. when i rezzed, i fell through the world and appeared at a wayshrine.

at times i've been unable to dismount, unable to use skills, including light/heavy attack, unable to sheath weapon, unable to unsheath weapon, unable to summon familiar a LOT - intermittant for two days, which is how long i've been running my newest sorc. i've seen four digit pings and felt like i was traveling through rubberband land instead of auridon and its starter island yesterday.

i'm not a new player, i don't have a **** machine or **** connection and i have thousands of hours in the game and most of those hours were without issues so, yes, something's fundmentally changed.

    and not for the better.

I have been getting hit with infinite load screens, the error message >>1<<, game crashes when I plug in my headset (never used to), delayed "population" of rooms and areas by NPCs and other characters, more lag than normal, and random occassional crashes and whatnot, although the crashes have been less since the first patch.

From the middle of December until TU I was on-line everyday and not even once I had 150+ms lag, frozen loading screen or need to re-log or reloadUI for some issues. Only occasional game crashes every couple of days.

Since TU, I crash at least 4 times a day, V.Often my latency is 500+ for over a minute, rarely below 100ms, Have to reloadUI or re-log quite often, my pet is just standing and not doing anything, skills are being not responsive, objects don't want to interact on activation. And all of this in PvE.

I don't even try PvP, too stressful experience.

I too have been experiencing many of the issues folks here have been posting about. One issue that I don't experience very often is the infinite load screens people talk about. I run the game off a SSD so I know that helps but I also have learned to NOT use the travel to player option. I do wonder if people that experience this so called infinite load screen if they are running the game off of a standard hard drive (platter)?

However, the crashes are insane... And very random... It's sad because I do love this game. If it wasn't for my love of this game, I would have quit a long time ago. It's odd because I had zero issues with the game when it first released. I played for a couple months when it released and then took a 3 month break. Ever since I came back, I have been experiencing random crashes... I am a PC hardware guru with 15+ years worth of experience that spans the building of literally hundreds of gaming systems (used to own and operate a custom building business)... So one of the things I pride myself on is building rock solid gaming systems... But with ESO.... I have spent so much time trying to figure out the crashing with no positive results... Again, in the past, I would have never ever stuck with a game that crashed this often but I love ESO so much that I just deal with it...

I really hope the dev's are able to resolve the crashing at some point this year.

Another issue I just started having, after switching to a sword and board DK magicka build... I will be attacking someone and doing damage when all of a sudden my toon will start randomly charging all over the area I am at... And will ultimately end up booted a far distance away from the area I was fighting... Like a snow giant just punted me away from the combat... This is very odd! Only happens in PvP.

I am hoping today's maintenance and patch brings some stability and bug fixes..

I really don't understand the issues some are having. I log in, and in less than a minute I'm playing. Cut scenes between worlds/instances are usually 30 secs or less. And I'm running with full graphics too. I'm thinking the problems some are having have nothing to do with free to play, and more to do with drivers needing updates... As always ymmv.

For you maybe Endurance - but for others there clearly is an issue. Why do people find it hard to accept that just because they don't have a problem others cannot? There are a myriad of issues posted on these forums that have the "I don't know why everyone complains" or "I don't believe that happens" comments posted and yet thereafter ZOS acknowledge there has been a problem.

Personally, I have little lag, and I play NA while being based in the EU but that doesn't mean lag is not present in the game.

Yeah, still subbed since prelaunch sign-up. got the tiger to show for it.

    Is that what I get?
A tiger but no responsive game to use it in?

I'm thinking that's one expensive tiger, if I can't play the game I'm still subbed to, with any reasonable expectation of low lag and absence of infinite loading loops or CTDs on a regular basis.

    O.o

Why would you not make your SSD the main drive? Its faster then any IDE or SATA drive you can buy. And if you dont want to use your SSD for main then at least get your self a Western Digital VelociRaptor that runs @ 10k RPM instead of that puky 7200. Yeah, your main drive is most likely your bottle neck on speed but that is if your PC is a good one or not.

As far as lag....I have a 105 MB speed and still deal with awful lag from hell. And my PC is a BEAST that eats up graphics for desert and begs for more! Main idea is that its not from my side.

If these things where happening to me I could see being very frustrated but I have had no problems with server lag or crashing. Any temporary issues with servers will be worked out I'm sure and the benefit of bringing so many people back to the game far outweighs any temporary discomfort imo.
