Game is much worse since subs were removed

I crash several times a day, screen freezes, endless loading screens, booted to desktop with an error message of <1>, unable to interact with crafting tables or people as the "e" just goes grey and nothing happens.

The quality of the server and overall game play is now much worse... but hey at least we have some new pretty stuff to look at that you can buy at the store.

Very frustrated.

It certainly didn't get better. Yea there are more people, but there was no foresight that more people on the same servers = drastic increase in ping and lag.
It's not even the game i'm frustrated about but the lack of care on the devs side to actually improve it.
In their head things play out but in reality things just aren't that way.
All that seems to matter is pets and vanity stuff that aren't going to keep people playing.
I for one am with one foot out of the door already, having basically done most of the things available in the game, and being pretty frustrated by now, with nothing coming from their side in terms of a quick solution.
I had pretty high hopes and came back for TU (name change was seriously unnecessary) and am basically about to leave the same way i did at launch -105€ spent in good faith.

I think OP meant that as a point of reference. That particular update/patch broke many things, not the fact people don't sub anymore... And perhaps that the large influx of people have created horrendous strain on the servers. It's fine opening the floodgates, but river has to be wide and deep enough to contain and drain the extra water...

And yes i agree with OP - game has been far more unstable.
I get a crash with an error message at least once or twice per session, i even did a clean re-install and nothing.
I am lucky i don't get lag too often, however it's not completely absent, just not gamebreaking enough, doesn't mean it's right though. Hopefully Tuesday's patch will help solve some issues (Said no-one ever), but hey, one can only hope!

Boxes take as many as 5 seconds to open and close, when I first transport into a city it's empty and people and npcs gradually show up.

The IT Department must have not paid the bandwidth bill or fed the Hamsters . I don't think they have anyone that knows how to prepare for this stuff . 2016 FTP calling it now .

The game is nigh unplayable during peak hours.

Just now for example, I was naive enough to accept a request to help someone with a world boss, and when I tried to port to them received an infinite load screen for my trouble.

Then when I reloaded the game after hard killing it in task manager, I received ANOTHER infinite load screen before I even got to the character screen! I literally can't play the game right now.

I'm sure it will let me in 15 minutes or so from now, and it is reasonably playable during off-hours, but that is beside the point. The devs have made huge efforts to allow people to play with their friends, but if the server architecture can't handle what amounts to a third or less of WoW's off-season server load, that isn't really practical.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I want to believe they are working tirelessly to return my year-long investment in the paid sub model to a semblance of it's former glory.

We're all playing the same game and subbed connection is no different then unsubbed connection as far as anyone at ZOS has stated . That being said , like this guy here should get a good game experience if ZEN ever wants to entice him to pay for the extra benefits of subscription . Performance should be a around the clock job at ZOS .

Dear @ZOS_JessicaFolsom , @ZOS_PaulSage and @ZOS_GinaBruno , these weekend performance issues are game breaking for ALL players . PVP , PVE and RP . Something NEEDS to be done immediately to handle the influx of new players . Weekends are for some people , the ONLY time they get to sit down and enjoy the product they purchased believing everything that was advertised on the box , website , Reddit , Facebook and YouTube commercials . Personally , I had 6 more people trying the game and left after crashing too much . That's on top of all the old guild members that left for a second time and said their fed up and done with a game that has so many issues .

Please address these people left playing and let them know what the situation is and what reasonable expectations on server performance they can expect before they just uninstall too .

Reddit's ESO is a total joke. It's comprised of rapid fanboy's who downvote anything negative about the game. It's just unfortunate that Subreddit is allowed to "represent" ESO. It's given many people a false impression of the true state of the game. Of course since it's a false positive people who think ESO can do no wrong is fine with it.

I know exactly what you mean . This is exactly what happened to TOR when they dropped subs . Huge influx and a giant increase in revenue and within a year server closers and population condensing because they couldn't deliver what they advertised . It eventually stabilized but everyone there knows they missed out on millions of dollars .

I really don't understand the issues some are having. I log in, and in less than a minute I'm playing. Cut scenes between worlds/instances are usually 30 secs or less. And I'm running with full graphics too. I'm thinking the problems some are having have nothing to do with free to play, and more to do with drivers needing updates... As always ymmv.

It's really getting terrible now. Crashing to the desktop, constant Character load screens, you name it. Much worse since 1.6 and TU was released. One family member on the East Coast is getting discouraged and we are trying to keep her in the game but it's getting almost too frustrating. Although the wife and I are still subbed, if this keeps up we will be dropping our subscription and just download the DLC when it comes out. There is no reason to pay for the lousy service we are getting now from ZOS.

Nothing could be further from the truth . This happens on some of the best gaming rigs and cable providers in the country . I have nights where it's not effecting me but my friends with even better 2015 rigs are crashing . Then other times my PC is a 2014 just for gaming rig too and I'll get hit with the crashes . I've paid specialists to come out and personally over haul my entire cable system and optimize signal strengths . Bought brand new 5Ghz Modem and still test after test shows my PC speed is off the charts and a ESO servers have dead spots of massive packet loss at varying hours . It's on their end .

I'm playing for free and have not experienced any problems with the game from a technical standpoint. And didn't play for the last 9 months either.

I'm not sure what's causing all the trouble, but it seems a little strange that only a few people are having these types of catastrophic problems. It leads me to believe that may be an issue with a particular video card or network provider, or possibly a driver issue?

I'm not the most tech savvy person out there, but I know enough you recognize that blaming poor performance of the client on increased numbers of players is just a scape-goat, and probably isn't actually the cause of the problem.

Actually it's lag from ZOS end I'm pretty sure. With more people playing, it doesn't just impact PvP anymore. It's everywhere.

Literally the exact thing happened to me tonight (was going to log, but saw someone needing helping zone chat so I joined them - or so I planned....)

Porting to them resulted in infinite load, trying to log back in, infinite load, got it the third time and saw that the player got another to hepl them and I logged back in right as they were finishing the WB. Sent a pm describing what happened and apologized, waited 10 min...no response from the other player..

Makes me not want to help people with these conditions.

Although I am getting the more serious issues rarely, this is not a "few people" situation. I see complaints constantly. ZOS wasn't ready to have a sizable amount of players online at once, and we are suffering for their short-sightedness.

I haven't had the issues you guys are experiencing. I have had a weird graphical glitch where interiors aren't loading very quickly... but I'm not concerned about that.
