Siege Damage Intended to hit for 24k?

    I just got hit for 41000 fireballista one shot..how the f*** is that possible?

    Combat prayer, plus perhaps some other damage buff now affecting siege? Did you have elemental drain debuff?

    This is completely backwards. I can understand how someone with little skill can now serve a purpose in PvP may frustrate you, but I'd say the skilled players are happy, and the not-so-skilled players are unhappy.

    To clarify:
    Skilled - able to handle themselves against 1 or more enemy players and either escape them, or kill them. Understand tactics beyond blobbing and spamming.

    Not-so-skilled - Stacking weapon/spell damage and nothing else. Has to rely on more than him/herself to survive. Spams.
    And finally, the No-Skill - A level 10 on siege one shotting players from max range.

    Groups stay 100% mobile or die, and no amount of gear or skill will mitigate that. No more good group v group fights, cuz that one random who put up a siege from stealth.

    Inb4 someone who doesn't know how to play or even how I play calls me a no skill zergball lag spammer,

    I got one-shotted for 35k earlier. My guild has been going all day and haven't been able to capture anything, everyone's getting 1/2 shotted, nobody can drop their own siege or rez anyone when trying to capture a keep. It's really a problem.

    Uhm no..I don't "stand in red circles"..I got hit with a bolt .I died instantly and that was the death recap.

    Remove that bs and let players fight vs players, not siege.

    Anyone saying it will spread the fights out is ***. If a full raid group can't get into a keep because the defensive siege is too strong, are they going to split into two 12 man groups and reduce their chances of success, or are they going to call over more people to help them out? People are just going to rely on zerging more. If you wait for two or three breaches on the keep as well, you're only inviting the opposition to bolster their defense before you can get inside the outer walls, and as far as the inner keeps go you're *** out of luck.

    Yup. That's what they did in the first month. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    An "easy" fix. Each player can only have 1 siege weapon in bag. Cannot stealth with siege in bag.

    Might be worth looking at the siege engines ranges and area effect radius now to see if they need to be tweaked.

    Seems like a blanket damage increase was a bad way to handle something like this.

    Fire siege weapons should have got a smaller damage increase and a larger area radius. Stones should get a larger damage increase and lesser radius. Ballista should get a reduced range, trebs an increase etc.

    Seems as tho @Satiar has the best points

    -People saying your bad for standing in siege damage, are the same people who cry about bats and standard.

    -Turned this game from skill slots to quick slots.

    I think increasing siege damage overall was needed, but this is overkill.

    Yes siegeweapons are very effective now, but only under the right circumstances.

    1. Virtually everywhere in Cyrodiil I can take advantage of siege, even in towers, cubbies, open field. There are very limited places where I can not take advantage of siege.
    2. Yes I can move and heal myself while shooting, only terrible players sit on a siege when its reloading. It takes about 1 second to activate your siege, fire it, then drop it and return to evading attacks, healing, etc. This is a terrible point only useful against bad players.
    3. It is easy to evade siege weapon attack once again in only certain situations where you shouldn't be using siege anyway. I'll see you guys tonight where I get guaranteed siege hits, this whole point of "oh just don't get hit by siege" is laughable. When there is enough siege you cannot avoid it all and in many of the strongest cases it cannot be avoided, such as keep takes.



    As for @woodsro we both want the same thing, but have very clearly different ideas on what this change will do. I give you that siege will make defending a keep easier with smaller numbers, no doubt about that. However, the zerg will overall benefit more from this change is my point as detailed in the other thread we commented on (and I created). Time will tell for sure, but I am highly skeptical of siege being the answer to zergs in keeps too since a big enough zerg makes siege not work.

    I will bet that siege will be seen as way to powerful now in less than a week.

    I've watched 2 people on siege and maybe 6 others hold off 20 at a keep all day long so far.

    I am playing in nonvet right now and as a DK I'm getting hit anywhere from 13 to 24 k per tick siege damage.

    In open field battle you can evade the attacks, taking a keep you WILL GET HIT!!

    Then just watch your HP melt away.

    One or two more hits from any enemy your dead if the siege doesn't roast you real quick

    There is no challenge to this change, just stay away from siege at all costs

    That's not a valid strategy

    it will encourage turtling and keep avoidance

    I know people wont listen and say Nonvet, baddie, scrub but when you and 19 others cant take a keep away from 2 people on siege and a couple others running around getting 2 hit kills it is frustrating .

    Only complaints I've heard about bats is when it could make vampires invulnerable. And I don't mean like people think ward makes sorcerers invulnerable. I mean literally him just standing there with forty people beating on him with silver bolts and fire skills and fire siege and nothing at all happens to his health bar. It got fixed at some point. Did it come back?

    We were fighting epic battles between keeps with players setting up siege on both sides and everyone spreading out braveheart style. It's not hard to rush someone on siege.

    This is what siege should have been doing all along, it's freaking great.

    I suggest anyone dieing to single siege think about putting purge on their bar, or getting more health, or learning how to avoid it.

    Hey its like this..if they don't change it..I can stand on a wall allll daaay looong and get my kill quests completed with siege..fine by me.

    Good luck doing that "all day long" if the attack force is competent.

    Finally siege is useful for more than just hitting walls again. It can finally be useful in defense. It was pretty ridiculous when you fire giant rocks and flaming balls of fire at a dancing enemy who's stacked shields absorb it without any issue. Siege should always be a threat, you get a big red circle on the ground, it's easy enough and slow enough to avoid.

    A competent attack force would be counter sieging you with trebs/catapults/ballista, targeting you, or flanking you if out in the open. I'm glad you had fun. It's good that siege actually does enough damage to need to be avoided or really defended against. It's great to see it being used
