Siege Damage Intended to hit for 24k?

If you come to think of it, siege should do more damage than what a player does...

Sieges are usually placed far from a keep...not just in front of it which makes sense since they made stone trebs deal more damage.

Agreed. Whoever came up with the design should be shot in the foot and only admitted to hospital when he manages to find 3 other people willing to maim themselves the same way in order to accompany him.

Ultimately, any method of entering an enemy keep without breaking down the door is considered an exploit. Thanks for checking!

So my reaction so far is it is strong. Too strong, I would like to see about a 20-30% nerf from what it is now.

Not because it one shot me a couple times or because on one occasion it did wipe the group, but because in all honesty it strengthened us. Tower farming is hilarious now, you wont even make it close to the stairs.

It makes defending wayyy to easy. The people we were fighting werent the most skilled and we never got to the point tonight where we had to defend the inner, but I promise you that making it through an inner would not happen without massive numbers. Remember how oil catas + oils wiped everyone, this will be worse.

This will encourage zerging a lot.

    Why all the QQ?

    I like these changes.

Now people appreciate me when I stealth burn those stone trebs in the flank when enemies seige inner walls. Now It makes sense to deter/eliminate seige machines as quickly as possible.

Why all the QQ? Because some people don't like the idea of PvP being anything other than a cage fight or a gank fest.

Cmon its really not PvP.. It's whackamole with siege. Let's call it what it is. Gamble your time and AP to see if you can whackamole and one shot them. plain and simple. :)

The change makes sense to me. I used siege equipment for the first time a few weeks ago, and I was suprised that it was so weak. Players should not be able to withstand multiple hits with siege equipment.

Hopefully it will die down a little after the thrill is gone.
Tonight not standing in the red on Blackwater was damn near impossible because everybody had siege weapons.
The DoT is what gets you even with a slight nick on the edge of the red as you dodge out of it.
I don't zerg, but I do like to snipe, hit and move but red was every where, I don't care how good you are at dodging you land in another there were so many siege weapons.
They should cost a lot more to prevent all this spamming of them. imo

So yeah. To me. This is a L2P issue.

I knew this was coming and it sounded like a good idea, but this is ridiculous!! The only way this is okay is if siege does friendly fire damage to allies. You can't go into battlefield now because your opponent will root you and then hit you with siege. You die. It's not fun. They take no damage.

I do not like these changes at all.

Why not just take away all class abilities and give everyone a greatsword, bow, and a ballista.

Way to come down to the common denominator.

Also those sieges should take whole crew to operate them and several hours to be placed if you want be so realistic. Not a single nab pulling them out of pocket in 1 second and then calling for dmg like the real life siege weapon could do.

with this big number damage from siege weapons should bind to it bigger inconvenience, long deployment time and only in keeps/building radius, similarly fixed oil who causes damage by flying down and not on a flat surface.

Easy to do, sure...but not if you're doing something where you're going to be fairly landlocked such as being in combat, on a siege, rezzing another player, snared, rooted etc...
A good solution imo would be limiting how often siege weapons can be fired. Of course, the endurance of siege equipment should be increased as well so that it's not just 3 shots before breaking down.

Seriously, and I've said this plenty of times, the only thing you should be mad about is that this damage wasn't implemented until now. It's siege. It's a 5 ton boulder dipped in oil and lit on fire, and it just hit you in the face at high speed. Think about how often in a siege you were able to just run around in the aoe's without a care. We all got used to it, but it ticked a lot of players off. The point of siege was to hit walls and be a minor inconvenience while trying to go through the breach in the wall. Now it's useful, and low and behold, the players are crying.

If you're going to post a screenshot of the damage you received from a ballista bolt, be sure to include your 17k health, 2300 wp/sp damage, your 5k armor, and your stage 4 vampirism, too. Most of the people whining are glass cannons, and have been used to just stacking damage and being able to get away with it. Now players are upset they may have to invest in some fire resist, heavy armor, or even a completely different set of gear, sacrificing some of that precious damage.

I personally love this change. And yes, I've been wrecked multiple times by siege already, smiling as I read my death recap. This is something that should have been in the game for a long time. There are solutions to the problems people are whining about, that they are failing to realize. If you're being sieged, siege back. Don't stand in AoE's. Consider investing in some more stamina to be able to actually roll. :open_mouth: wait what? roll? I know. roll dodge, you'll have to work your little bambi legs out some, but you'll learn eventually. I feel that this change is a step in the right direction. This kind of damage will enable smaller groups to capture objectives, while big obvious groups are under siege. Defense is now possible with smaller numbers, and may even allow groups to break off during defense to flag another objective, breaking up the enemy zerg, or forcing them to choose to have to defend or attack. I'm sure this post will come under flak. If you disagree, you are required to state the following motto before proceeding with your reply.

Nope 7 heavy, 35K health but taloned fighting DK's and time to break out of talons and roll twice with the DK's I am fighting on my Templar is where it can happen because they take no damage from the siege weapons.

The smurfs were using that tactic last night, it works well.
