Whats with the PVE lag?

Waiting for a hot fix tomorrow of PvE servers completely revamped and each dungeon has their own server

Is this noted someplace that it's happening? Or are you just hopeful it may one day as I am....

No, ZoS has a history where whenever one person complains about PvE they will rush to fix it. Every major update in ESO has been geared towards PvE, every change to something existing has been 95% geared towards PvE.

PvP has pretty much been unplayable since the launch of ESO but they continue to ignore it, while they consistently push PvE.

Hell, Paul sage even said if we want to have no lag in PvP we should go quest and PvE (he said go do stuff other than take keeps and stuff) though ESO was advertised as large scale PvP, and now we are told its our fault for playing as advertised.

    There's more than lag.

Excluding lag etc., for close to 1 year I have played with at maximum 1 client crash a day.

Since patch 1.6.5 my client crashes 4-5 times a day.

Also, it's now normal for my guild to enter any trial and always have 3-4 people stuck in a forever loading screen.
Sometimes, after 2-3 minutes they suddenly enter the trial, the 3-4 people get all "unlocked" at the same time (we use Teamspeak so they tell us in real time. Other times they have to log off and relog, the whole trial group has to waste minutes and minutes.

For those of you running into lag outside of Cyrodiil, can you let us know exactly where you're seeing it? Is it a specific town, dungeon, etc.?

I see it at random times but the horse will totally stop dead when riding(feels like lag) in his tracks at random times also. The only place I remember exactly where lag was in Elden Root when I spawned at wayshrine but never really paid attention enough the other times as it was short 2-3 seconds and not unbearable but still lag. One time around a group of people in pve but again, don't remember where. <
    all pve though

I did play from launch until january with no lag problems in pve

Today in Veteran Darkshade (veteran pledge) I encountered a 5 to 10-second lag spike (everything froze on screen) while fighting the last boss. Other party members reported the same. I experienced other, shorter lag spikes during the dungeon.

    This.

And the lag in dungeons is rather strange. I can heal and do some other things, but damage dealing spells won't work or only after several seconds. And it's definitely server lag, because our whole group experienced it at the same time. We had to quit the dungeon after a while - unplayable.

I'm getting abnormal lag everywhere in the world during peak hours. this is recent and most likely due to increased users and hence load. I've confirmed its not my pc or internet connection - that was done by analyzing internet congestion maps, trace routes and pings.

It does not take a computer scientist to tell that your servers are overloaded. imcp times are less than in game reported latency. looks as if abilities are being queued and you don't have the processing power to process them in time.

    Gina,

Thank you for asking but it really is hard to be precise because it's so wide spread. When 1.6 hit and many people returned, the server strain was evident. More random loading screens which never ended, more disconnects, ability lag execution began to be evident which are all symptoms of server load.

I can tell you I've experienced mobs in instances just freezing for more than two minutes while my group and I ran around not being able to engage them in combat. After a few minutes they started to catch up and become active again chasing us across half the instance.

In many cities, there are outside curbs, walls, and other pieces of architecture which just doesn't load in any kind of reasonable time.

This was ESO's chance to make a second impression and many people returning are seeing again some of the server issues from launch with the server under stress and to them it appears there has been little done to improve performance.

It doesn't take more than playing the game at peak time to experience these in just about every zone.

Happens everywhere at random intervals. Happens in short bursts, often not even long enough for my character to be killed. Slightly inconvenient, but not really game-breaking.
It is mostly a minor nuisance compared to Cyrodiil, which is a much larger and protracted issue.

The center of towns. Any town, populated or empty. And the same thing happens to me inside keeps. There is always a dip in my FPS when moving into the area and a stutter. Usually it dips from 60 to 42, then slowly climbs its way back up and balances out. One example is the fountain in the middle of Belkarth. The ONLY thing I have been able to do to stop the dip in FPS is reduce draw distance to 0. This has been a constant issue for me for a few months now.

Sometimes the lag affects intractables like doors, people, stealing ect. I got stuck in Wayrest Castle for a few minutes yesterday because I couldn't open the door. My ping hits "999+" just randomly, anywhere. I haven't found a specific trigger for this.

Another instance was just today by the Werewolf shrine in the Rift. I was killing giants and whatnot to build ultimate. I was trying to activate Spectral Throw by rapidly firing light attacks with my bow. I fired continuously for a good 6-7 seconds after the fight ended and I had stopped clicking my mouse button and entered my equipment menu. During the fight, I would also fire 3-4 light attacks before Spectral Throw would actually fire. This is something that has been affecting my abilities for a week or so. Killing mobs in Spellscar/other grindy places I'll notice a delay in my ability activation or bar swap.

Time of day does not seem to matter. I get it at 4:30 am before work, and 6pm at night.

Hope that tells you something. I doubt its my rig. I'm running a EVGA Nvidia 670FTW and an overclocked i5.

    Thanks!

Performance was indeed awful this evening (EU).
And it will be even worse today/tomorrow on the first "free" weekend.
As I said before... I was totally cool with having to pay a monthly subscription but in return not suffering (too) much from overcrowding/lags because of lesser players around.

Unfortunately now we cant even come here anymore to complain because... you know. No more forced payment = shut the *** up and take it or get out.
And experiencing this now - boy, I am glad I actually did cancel my subscription otherwise I would have to be really pissed about that. Paying a monthly for such a lag fest would have been... well... stupid. Really really stupid.
But I'm not. Stupid. I mean paying. B)

    SOON!

Lol since day 1 its gotten worse, every time they push an update it makes the lag worse. They never fixed the issues we had before the exodus, we had less people so we didnt see it that much but now we are getting loaded back up and guess what .... its back. because it was never fixed.

When I first login with main or alts AND I am in Elden Root I start with 1 or 3 FPS, then 10, then 13 and then it usually settles for me at around 24FPS.

Just started this today it seems.

This started happening to me yesterday. It stopped happening when I disabled some addons. It would also happen when I did /reloadui.

Yes, something really strange is going on in Eldenroot; inside the "wayshrine tree" my FPS drops down to about 30 from an all around stable 60 everywhere else. Step out of the tree - 60 are back. Step inside the tree, 30 are back. Weird.

This is pretty much my experience at the moment. It's hard to be more accurate in describing the lag problem when it's everywhere. The game client is now much more prone to crashing now too.

The lag that affects PvP is due to too many players interacting. PvE lag is due to too many players being allocated on the same zone server(s). The former is just awful design and can't be fixed without redoing vast portions of the code, the latter could be helped by more hardware (I hope).

Anyway, since patch 1.6 we have also memory leaks rearing their ugly head.

Client starts getting less and less responsive, memory gets filled. When one quits the client the computer swaps for 1 minute.
Never had this since after the first patches just after release.
