I realize that many of you are new to mmorpg's and have come here since the game went FTP which is fine however ,

It is not ok to attack or kill mobs that someone else is fighting.

This is becoming a frequent occurrence as more and more people join.

Your not a hero . Your not helping.

Unless your grouped with someone else , your interfering with other people's quests and game play.

Regardless of whether or not there is lost loot or exp makes no difference , your being a nuisance .

In mmorpg's with open world pvp you would be killed for that , no questions asked.

This is well known game etiquette .

Please respect other players right to enjoy the game and they will respect you.

Disagree. Mobs, chests, and crafting nodes are not owned by anybody. As new players, know this is an open world, And likewise people superimpose their own set of rules and preferences. People may agree on what their personal preferences are, but with regards to the intended mechanics of the game you can fight any mob you wish, especially if your quest requires the mobs as well.

One cannot just claim a mob. That is absurd. There have been many occasions where I have rushed to the aid of another player or have had other players come to my aid.

If someone attacks and helps down a mob you are fighting, you still earn the same amount of XP. So it's not like they're stealing anything from you. I enjoy having people pop up and making my slaying a little bit quicker. That means I get to move onto the next mob sooner, instead of spending a few more seconds on the one I am fighting.

The well known game etiquette is that you don't own anything in a public zone. Get used to it, or try to find something else that will suit your fancy.

This goes doubly for champions or unique named mobs. If I see someone else already fighting them, am I just supposed to stand back and let you kill it, so I have to wait about 20 minutes for it to respawn?

I like having solo delves to myself, and sometimes will stop and wait people out if they come* running in behind me, etc. But reality is, its a shared world. These instances will happen no matter how much of a "nuisance" they may be, which is exactly why xp and loot works as it does. Annoying sometimes? Yes. But its going to happen and keep happening. Take a smoke break. snack break, whatever and go back to it. and you're*, not that I normally go on grammar *** spree...but that one annoys me

You DO realize that in an MMO where nothing is lost it is perfectly fine to attack and help someone out. Your personal rules on MMO etiquette do not matter to the world at large.

I thought this only applied in games with (IMO very out-dated) mob "tagging" mechanics where only one person/party could get credit.

Without that I don't see any reason to worry about it.

How do you know you aren't attacking their mob they need for their quest?

FYI there is no mob stealing. You get your exp and quest progression and loot regardless.

Co-operative play is the order of this game. The game encourages it, and its players thrive on it and make friends through it.

If this what you say is true OP then it is NOT the case with many (if not all) MMORPGS. If one cannot help a player, regardless of location, then TESO completely fails in the MMO department.

I however, do not believe that is the case with this game.

Funny, I was grinding in Bankorai today and a fella who I have seen in this forum accused me of 'jumping his kills' or something.

I think it may not be common knowledge that you get full xp and loot as long as it is just 2 people tagging a mob.

It used to work that way in Ultima Online 14 years ago. I can't remember now if it was the first person to hit an enemy or the one that dealt the killing blow (I think the second) but either way only 1 person would get credit, XP and loot for each kill. It worked the same way in World of Warcraft when I did the free trial about 5 years ago and as a combination of that and the ridiculous number of "kill 10 rats" quests at low levels people could get very protective of the spawn point they were camping.

As far as I know it's gotten much rarer with newer games, but I can't be 100% sure because the only other MMOs I've spent much time playing are Guild Wars 1 & 2 which were both designed from the ground up to be entirely cooperative in PvE (in spite of some people's best efforts). But as I said to my mind it's a very out-dated mechanic and there is absolutely no need for it in newer games, it just wastes peoples time and encourages trolling.

But the important point is it's not in ESO, so I have no idea what the OP is on about. Unless they are in fact a new player themselves and are assuming everything works exactly like it did in their last game.

Wait...no, actually I don't. Why not help? They still get XP/kill credit/loot! I know I don't mind if someone comes along and attacks whatever I am fighting. Faster it dies, the less magika/stamina I have to regen!

I can't ever recall this being an issue in general. If people are in the same area they are free to attack whatever they want. The only complaints I can remember people on the forums griping about were if A.) there was a boss for a quest nearby and they got credit for killing before being able to even attack it and B.) if someone wanted to practice/challenge their skill by soloing something like an overland boss.

I kinda sorta agree with the OP, to an extent. I don't see this kind of behavior as rude in general, but at the same time there's no real reason to get involved in another player's battle with regular mobs. Quest bosses etc., yes, absolutely. But not random bandit #26. Think about it: when playing a newbie melee char, weren't you ever annoyed when a DK came along and started pulling your enemies, forcing you to turn around and chase them? Or anyone with a knockback skill like Magnum Shot? I feel that this kind of "help" sometimes does more harm than good. I tend to let people be unless I see they're struggling.

Wow @noobfury really?...

And how do you think new gamer's and old gamer's would find friends? (despite the chat option)... the only thing I do not like and this is a thing that is not good to do to anyone, is stealing other peoples chest while they are trying to find out what they will trow out from their bags so they can loot completely the chest they found.

That is a low blow, what I like to do when some body arrive first to the chest I was after at the same time, I wait till they finish looting the chest completely, and then I applaud them, that is a personal thing I do when somebody else take it first, there is no need to be mad or do wrong to another player, I just go around and do another run and go back to see if the chest appears. Other than that I don't mind people steeping in and joining me or helping me or just happen to be there as well. What the heck dude?... lol indeed.

Although I don't agree with the OP, it does sometimes suck when someone steals your glory. For example, last night I was in the Alik’r Desert soloing the Hollow Waste Dolmen and it's down to just me and the last mob. I've got it down to about 1/4 of it's health when someone rolls up and sticks it to steal my perfect dolmen run. Was I pissed? No, just disappointed. There will be more chances to solo a dolmen. So did I go online and rant? No, I ran up the hill and soloed the Forsaken Hearts Cave boss!

What's with this wave of self-entitled posts now that ESO has gone B2P? I never supported B2P and am not particularly happy with it, but seriously, you don't get to tell people how to play a massively multiplayer game. At most, if a guy is stalking you and snatching your kills and chests on a regular basis, report him for griefing. Other than that, welcome to life in society.
