Is the game worth to play now? (former player)

People are still adjusting to the changes in Update 6 and will be for a while. As more players figure out how best to be a magicka Sorcerer, or a stamina Templar, or a tanky Nightblade more effectively in the new system and as that system is tweaked, the complaints will shift to some new thing. Since you already own the game, you can play whenever you like and see whether it is worth your time at no cost.

Two things that will help you adapt are learning about how the new buff system works and figuring out how to spend you Championship Points. Those who do those two things well are way ahead of those who do not.

More details below about those two things if you want them, didn't want to make this comment look too big/detailed if you just want the short version.
Many abilities, 5 piece set bonuses, and potions now give buffs from a short list of possibilities. Each character can have any number of buffs but specific ones don't stack. So if you wanted to use Fracture to reduce your enemy's armor rating, that buff comes in two types like all of them do, major and minor. You could (de)buff the opponent with both Major Fracture and Minor Fracture, and those would both stack to take down the target's armor strength. But, if you or another player tried to use Major Fracture again on the same target to stack it with the previous Major Fracture, it won't help. You could instead hit that target with Major Breach, which reduces spell resistance. So knowing what buffs you want to apply to yourself/allies and which debuffs you want to apply to enemies helps you make your build.

As for the Championship system just log in and hit the = key. You earn Championship Points any time you earn XP with a vet character, and the Championship Points you accrue are account wide yet are spent on each character individually.

In the Champion screen you can see the passives that require points to unlock in each of the constellations and also higher in each of those trees you can see the boons that unlock when you spend enough points in a particular constellation. Each point spent in a constellation raises your "rank" for the constellation. Many players look at the boons that only require rank 10 or 30, that is, those that require 10 or 30 points to be spent in a particular constellation, see which of those easier to get boons would help their build, and then make sure their points go to those constellations first to unlock those boons before spreading them around elsewhere.

For example, for my Sorcerer I spent 30 points in The Apprentice to unlock the boon Spell Precision, which gives an extra 12% spell crit. Along the way I picked up the rank 10 boon for that constellation that guarantees a critical hit on my next spell after blocking three spells. If ever make it rank 75 in that constellation I will get a boon that reduces spell cost by 80% after drinking a potion, and if I make it to rank 120 in that constellation some day there will be a 20% chance when I kill an enemy that they will explode and give me and any nearby allies a boost of Magicka, like some arcane piñata.

In terms of new content, there is only the justice system (with several new books in the hideouts)
    And the Champion system.

Only that, as well as smoother gameplay but I really like those things :)

    - Very little activity in the economy, even if there is a uber rare item, how will you find it on sale if you can only buy/sell from 2000 people.

    Ummmm..... What? Seriously, WHAT?

You do realize that the guildstore kiosks opened up trade to more than just your 5 guilds... That's their purpose after all. Those stalls and npcs are not just decoration.

I haven't checked them out yet, as I'm still downloading the client. But will I be able to sell anything, I've heard guilds only have 30 slots, does all guilds have a kiosk? Somehow I doubt I'll get a sell slot anytime soon but I don't know how the system works.

I don't think those motifs are any rare at all, atleast they didn't use to be, I purchased most of them for less than 1k gold each if I remeber correctly.

Cooking recipes sounds nice though, looking forward to check them out. I remeber they somehow stopped dropping in the VR levels after the first few days.

Sorry again if I was a bit sharp...

Yes, guilds only have 30 slots for you to sell. But you can have 5 guilds. And trade guilds, who are more likely to have a store, often cycle out players so you can pick up one or two trade guilds. Or fill up all 5 with trade guilds if you are really into selling. It's not to hard to find one that is recruiting.

I'm not takilng about just blue styles and recipies. I'm talking the rarer purples and golds. They also have some new sets dropping with the undaunted now. 2 piece rare sets with fairly significant bonuses. The helmet piece drops from the last boss, and the shoulder comes from the gold key undaunted pledge. You can still get drops like worm cult and thorn as well. I feel that there are still things that can be added and improved, but it's pretty ok for now.

I think in amongst peoples pet frustrations (which are certainly valid enough) they can lose sight of just what a unique mmo this is. It might take time but its easily the most immersive and fun experience out there on mmo footing.

Isnt a day I dont read a post and think 'people dont care about the game', even if its a gripe or moan and thats a good thing. The game is very fun. Very easy to become complacent and lose sight of how much good there is in ESO. But its there all the same.

Given long enough, im sure it'll get where we want it to be. #staypositive.

I'm actually doing shuttle runs of Auridon quests with all sorts of new people. LIke 13 new players/friends in one day. Today is a great ESO day for me. As a PvPer I share the frustrations at having nothing new for so long but..

Doesnt make the game any less good. Just means I have time to focus on other things till its ready.

Sounds fun with purple and gold recipies. Just wish more crafts had recipies. I'm not saying recipie system is the best, there are many games with good crafting without a recipie system, but it's easier to get it to work.

I'm also frustrated because I played TSW a few years ago, and they too messed up crafting, and now just a few years later there's another big AAA mmorpg trying to invent the wheel again.

About rarity of items, I've played games where a certain item only drop maybe once a year on the entire megaserver, that game was Anarchy Online, and that game had thousands of items. I played that game for a few years on and off during the first 6 years, and I never reached "End Game" since there was so much you could do at lower levels.

I'm not saying that's the correct way to do things, it's just that items that drop every day I don't consider "rare".

    For new players: yes.

    For VR players: no.

Still no content beyond 50, still awful leveling for the Veteran Ranks.

Yes. Sorcerers are the weakest class in game, due to nerfing everything a (typical) sorcerer uses. Except pets, but the AI is so bad on them they wont be useful in end game or PVP.

Well relatively rare, it's not every day necessarily. They are bop, and there are some players who don't have a complete set yet, and that's even after grinding the dungeon for it... There are probably even fewer who have the type and trait is hey want.

But I do agree with you on rarity. I would love to see something truly rare and worth striving for. (Like daedric artifacts.)

But, get in game and see if you like it. That's rally all I can say.

Hello guys, Im Istyar, a former player, I've played the game since the launch until September of the last year, then, I pretty much did everything in the game and stopped playing.

Back then, when I was playing between February and October, the game was fun, but it had a lot of problems, unbalanced classes, a broken group finder, a lot of bugs in quests and so on... I want to know if the game if fixed, if it is really worth my time. I've been checking the forums and seems like the Sorcerers are completely broken, is it true? Well, give me your opinion about how is the game now.

    Thank you.

In my opinion, it isn't worth your time. The game still has a ton of problems, the classes are not any more balanced, and the lag has only gotten worse. Add to the fact that the game is in constant upheaval and what may be a good build/gear one day can be crap the next. Exp is horrible, and content is limited so your looking at a lot of grinding at the higher levels.

Sorcs aren't completely broken, just have some issues. You would have to probably play a max magicka build if you wanted to be competitive.

Sure it's free to play now if you bought the game, but if your time is of value to you and you want to play something fun, there are quite a few other free games out there that I think are more fun.

Ah, what I thought. So little has really changed vis what was bringing the game down. I paid my sub since release and you all are still dealing with the same old issues. Is shroud still broken? Does the LFG tool still not work? Sluggish skills? Horrible lag in Cyrodiil? Guess I will be waiting another half year or more before we see anything that justifies the money spent. I guess good for you who didn't have to pay a sub.
