Is the game worth to play now? (former player)

Hello guys, Im Istyar, a former player, I've played the game since the launch until September of the last year, then, I pretty much did everything in the game and stopped playing.

Back then, when I was playing between February and October, the game was fun, but it had a lot of problems, unbalanced classes, a broken group finder, a lot of bugs in quests and so on... I want to know if the game if fixed, if it is really worth my time. I've been checking the forums and seems like the Sorcerers are completely broken, is it true? Well, give me your opinion about how is the game now.

Thank you.

Well all you have to do is log in now that subs are gone. No real downside to patching and playing for a few hours.

I also agree that sorcs are fine (doing well in PvP and pve is well..pve lol)

As for bugs, see them rarely and combat is much improved imo. So +1 for me. Cant complain.

I think, especially now that its F2P, the game is more worth it than ever. You don't lose anything if you log in, no money investment required and you have full access to everything you had access to before.

I am not yet at max level with any of my chars, so I can not judge how playing is on VR 14, but ya I still have a lot of fun, just not enough time to really play much.

As for "fixing". I never had any real issues with the game, the performance is still sluggish for weaker systems, so I am not sure how it would affect you and your system. Sorceress are not broken, mine does solo world bosses now, bosses she had trouble with before are now a walk in the park (with some skill involved).

What these people refer to is the tiny % they lost in DPS, its probably not even worth mentioning for anyone not going for world firsts and stuff. Its the typical trash talking of min/maxers that we have in all games. When they told me Warlocks were broken at Vanilla WOW, mine still was totally fine and the same it is now with Sorceress here.

Unless you uninstalled there's no reason for you not to log in an check for yourself.

I don't know about sorcs, but as a Templar the net changes to my class have been a plus.

You were playing back around October, did you see 1.5? Curently the biggest changes you'll notice are the justice system, champion system, collection menu, crown store, the adjusted stats, and the tweaks to mechanics that have shifted the meta.

The bots are gone, and since players can rob and attack NPCs, you'll see that happen ... along with the reckless players being chased down and hacked to death by the city guard, so that's value-added.

Is the game worth playing? I guess I will say yes since I am still around.

Most quest bugs seem to have been fixed, so that is definitely a positive. Group Finder, well lets just say it is better to use the guild channels to find people. As for the imbalance between classes, it is still around.

Keep in mind this is my opinion and very PvE centric. The game has 4 classes and 4 roles to be played (Tank, Healer, Magicka DPS and Stamina DPS), it is logical that each class should be better at one of those roles, DKs are the best tanks, Templars are the best Healers, Nightblades should be the best Stamina DPS and Sorcerers should be the best Magicka DPS. That doesn't translate into the game even after the fixes on 1.6, at least not yet.

Right now DKs and Templars are the best at... Well, everything. DKs are the best tanks, but also the best Stamina DPS and Templars not only are the only trully viable Healer, they are also the best Magicka DPS thanks to their new execution. Sorcerers and Nightblades have reasonable DPS, they are just not the best at anything.

As for the problems with sorcerers, 1.6 gave us more DPS, at least with Magicka Builds, unfortunately the class still lacks any Utility, anything that makes it important to have a sorcerer on your trial or dungeon group. At the end of the day, we can complete all the content, but you could easily replace all the sorcerers in your group with another DK or another Templar and your group would be stronger for it.

I'll take a look at the game again since it's B2P. But from the looks of it, the major problems I had with TESO is still there.

    - unintresting crafting (armor/weaponsmithing)
    - Very little activity in the economy, even if there is a uber rare item, how will you find it on sale if you can only buy/sell from 2000 people.

Booring dungeon rewards. I remember when I played WoW back in 2005 the dungeons actually had far more stuff. Books, recipies, boss items that changed depending on how you killed the bosses(Dire Maul), super rare mounts(Stratholme).

That was 10 years ago. I actually expect more from a modern game when it comes to loot.

    This is partially right,

True, because alot of people are biased and/or incorrect in their assessments.

False, because the entire point was asking other people for theirs.

As far as class balance goes its an evolving process and not as black and white as people imply. A friend of mine is having plenty of success on his Khajiit magicka nightblade in PvP (despite being told he wouldnt) - you just need to know your class and what it shines at.

A general rule I have is not to count anyone or anything out. A time will come when balance shifts and things favour what you have and others dont. Its a cardinal aspect of MMO's and why you should always play what you love, instead of listening too much to people with endless time and a min/max obsession.

In my opinion, it isn't worth your time. The game still has a ton of problems, the classes are not any more balanced, and the lag has only gotten worse. Add to the fact that the game is in constant upheaval and what may be a good build/gear one day can be crap the next. Exp is horrible, and content is limited so your looking at a lot of grinding at the higher levels.

Sorcs aren't completely broken, just have some issues. You would have to probably play a max magicka build if you wanted to be competitive.

Sure it's free to play now if you bought the game, but if your time is of value to you and you want to play something fun, there are quite a few other free games out there that I think are more fun.

Overall, the game is in good shape.

The new stealing minigame is very well done, immersive and rewardly. I hope the devs don't destroy it in a couple of months like they did with other ways to earn loot. Start a new character, go to quest, steal, feed your horse, it's all you need :) now you don't have to worry for the subscription time.

The cash shop feels healthy, few stuff and not overpriced. Probably many people will sub as before instead of buying crowns to buy mounts and pets with the monthly stipend. I hope it stays that way, more fancy stuff and DLC only.

You are wrong about this. Guild traders means your items are out there for everyone in your faction. I am in a great guild that has a trading kiosk in Wayrest, and it gets a ton of traffic.

Honestly between this game and Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars 2 always had the business model I wished (which has now been granted) ESO had back at launch. The game has more content, more individuality and freedom of the character; what have you. Since it too now is B2P, it's hard to imagine enjoying GW2 as long as I have been anymore. I think the whole sub requirement is what really hurt this game, it just didn't offer enough to support a sub with the limitations it had (factions are locked off from each other outside of Cyrodiil, phasing, etc). But now that the tables have turned, I mean flip yeah! Buy the game once, and should you be bored, then go ahead and take a break; the game will be here when you get back.

    ^^ This.

Also there is the justice system which can be really fun to do. There have been improvements to the Sorcerer class that have helped it be better. Champion Points will help you a lot in that area. Hopefully you had a V14 when you left so you will automatically have them to put in. I still log into the game every day since Beta as there are things to do. The game is still very enjoyable and hopefully will only get better. You will run across an occasional bug in a quest buy hey, it's an MMO, they all have bugs.

Only you can decide if the things your doing are enjoyable. Hopefully they will be and we'll see you in ESO!

Your post is wrong my friend. Think this, you leave this game because of X problems and you believe that from september till now eveything will be fine. That's not an excuse, new games always have problems and you play it if you like and you don't play if you don't like, no because there some bugs.

But answering your questions, they improve a lot new things in the game, they balance a lot, things are fixed and like always new bugs are around. Also we had lag that now seems better.

Sorcerers are not broken, people like always like to complain and complain over and over instead of damn play and enjos thir class, because cyrodiil is not a 1v1.

They have also plans for sorcerers to make stamina sorcerers viable.

i regret paying 80 bucks for the imperial edition tbh. you'll enjoy the low level content and early questing but you will hit veteran soon enough which is simply the epitome of laziness and boredom. wait a few months at least until they release major content changes and updates and when the entire "tamriel unlimited" hype is over. it'll be fun to see the entire new wave of players hitting endgame and then complaining on here as well.

    Ummmm..... What? Seriously, WHAT?

You do realize that the guildstore kiosks opened up trade to more than just your 5 guilds... That's their purpose after all. Those stalls and npcs are not just decoration.

And I find recipies and motifs in dungeons all the time. Actually, that has never not been the case. Sure, they aren't dependent on the boss kill, but they are there.

Sorry if I'm jumping on your post, but that is some outdated misinformation.

I haven't checked them out yet, as I'm still downloading the client. But will I be able to sell anything, I've heard guilds only have 30 slots, does all guilds have a kiosk? Somehow I doubt I'll get a sell slot anytime soon but I don't know how the system works.

I don't think those motifs are any rare at all, atleast they didn't use to be, I purchased most of them for less than 1k gold each if I remeber correctly.

Cooking recipes sounds nice though, looking forward to check them out. I remeber they somehow stopped dropping in the VR levels after the first few days.
