Pickpocketing Etiquette

Austin.Swiftb14_ESO
I can't tell you how many times i've tried to find a person to pickpocket but have only run into "pockets empty" on all npcs. If you steal all three items from an NPC and deplete their pockets, KILL them if you can. That will allow their pockets to refresh once they reappear. Doing this can help a ton of players while trying to pickpocket.

No. Killing the NPC is just sloppy and means you have failed. There are lots of NPCs and not all of them will have full pockets all the time. Part of playing an MMO is realizing you are not the only one there.

If you can one shot NPC - why not. If not - well, you are too late.

How does it mean you failed? If the area is isolated and If i know I can 1-shot them. I kill them so when they respawn they will have full pockets.

I came in here thinking this was about etiquette... So I was thinking about how I noticed someone patiently waiting for that ding for a chance to pickpocket with greatest success, and I killed the NPC.

He means that in ES games Thieves Guild don't kill in any circumstances. They are not Dark Brotherhood.

If you are going to kill them there is really no reason to pick their pockets at all..

Seems to take roughly the same span of time for an Empty NPC's pockets to refill as it does for a dead NPC to respawn so personally see no reason for it.

Yes there is. Picking pockets gives xp in the skill line. It also gives up to 3 items worth of gold which all give xp when sold to fence. Killing the target gives only one 1 and only when you are at level range. Killing makes the npc spawn with full pockets though... I always kill them when I can because I like to be efficient. This is no different than some *** farming nodes but leaving only worm in them so they wont respawn.

Except looting a worm off a corpse doesn't give a chance that you'll accrue a bounty and become KoS by town guards. Some people don't *want* to kill the NPCs, some people want to be pickpockets and not murderers, and it isn't up to you to tell them what they should or shouldn't do. There are TONS of other NPCs you can steal from in the game. If an area is dry, go somewhere else.

What is this? NPCs are not resource nodes.

If you want to farm, there are a ton of crates to loot at significantly lower risk.

This one does not like what the psychotic one is asking. Ja'Taba has no qualms with stealing from anyone. After all, nothing that belongs to anyone is truly belonging to them. Only possession determines ownership and this one intends to posses much... but Khajiit does not kill unless it is absolutely necessary for this one's survival.

Alchemy nodes will not respawn until the worms are taken.
Empty pickpocketable NPCs do respawn their items without needing to be killed.

Still, It is much more convienent that when you see an NPC, you know he is having resources in his pocket waiting to be picked up. Atleast I will keep killing everything I can after pickpoketing so you or anyone else would not have to sneak up to an empty node. It is nice thing to do.

    Interesting sentiment.
Have not killed a single NPC after my 100th for the achievement due to awareness of how many players dislike corpses/empty NPC areas from everyone being murdered; personally consider that the nice thing to do.

This one is happy to lighten a loose pocket or two (or three) when such a pocket is dangling in front of ones claws. This one prefers not to kill off the pockets that feed me if possible though. So hard to get the claws clean afterwards.

This one has found it to be more profitable though to go organising the belongings of the various royal households. They have so many handkerchiefs, bananas, chamber pots, maps, saucy books and the like that they don't really seem to notice that this one has occasionaly borrowed one or two items and forgotten to give them back later.
