Need ingame support for other language letters like Æ, Ø and Å

Hi

I'm from Denmark, and we run a Danish Guild.
In the Danish language, we have 3 letters that are special,
and they are Ææ, Øø and Åå.
It is more than a Little annoying that the ingame chat do not support these letters, when we chat in our guildchat.

And the really mystical part about it is, that only 2 of them are not working.
Actually Æ Works fine.. So why not Ø and Å ???

It should be a very simple thing to fix. Even if you dont want to see forign letters in general chats, then it should be possible to limit the use of them to guild and Group chats?

Please let us be able to communicate in our own language with proper spelling thx.

They needed nine months to add "ñ" to support Spanish, one of the largest languages in the world, and you expect them to support Danish, a language spoken by a few million people in total?

I speak Swedish, a language almost as small as Danish, and we would only need one single character (å) in addition to what's already in there to support German (äö). I still don't expect that to happen, ever.

Their choice to include Æ is a bit strange, but it does appear in some remnants of Latin in English and French.

The programmers for this game made a choice to support only three languages, the ones they made the voice-overs for. Including Spanish now in the mix is a wise decision, but doing any of the Nordic languages would immediately upset people from Slavic regions, Turkey and Russia, all of which outnumber the Nordic language speakers by a wide margin.

And I don't think the argument "Because Nords" will sway ZOS in our favor.

I can only argue, that every other MMO out there can figure it out. So why not ESO?

Its just something they need to put on the to do list, and get it done. Small thing I know, but still so very lame that its not working, when every other MMO seem to have no problem with this.

I'd like to put a vote in for Icelandic special characters as well. Population of Iceland is only 320.000 but we're growing at a steady pace. Please add support for Þþ, Ðð, Áá and the rest. Thank you.

Although it is a bit difficult to search for this topic, there are already several threads about it:

    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6

And considering how much trouble the special characters have caused in the past (issues with inviting, chatting, logging in), I don't think we will see those special characters being implemented anytime soon
I have approximate knowledge of many things.

How can special keyboard characters give trouble? They are only used for dialoque between those who understand them.

Just make it, so they cannot be used in names, and public chats. Restrict it to guild and Group chats. Then there will be no trouble, but better communication for those who speak other languages.

    Hey there @wOOOOt_of_SD,

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently supported in English, French, and German. We understand that certain characters are necessary to communicate in languages outside of these, however these languages are not currently supported. We’re always accepting feedback for the game, so please feel free to submit a /feedback ticket in-game to send this along to our developers. We’ll also ensure that the feedback noted here is sent to the correct place for review. Thank you very much for your patience!

    Hi Gary

Thank you for answering my thread.
Its a Little difficult describing the problem ingame, when we cannot write the letters that are missing.
But of course, I can post the general problem. I just thought that ingame feedback was for more game related problems.

    But thanks anyway

@wOOOOt_of_SD If you click on the support tab, and then email, you can submit a ticket when not playing ESO. I have just sent a request with ÆØÅ in ticket number 150223-000702.

On the support tab in the game all letters supports because it uses libraries and fonts from Windows or Mac, the one that uses (message in support sents by e-mail, is not it?), But in the game there is no support for these characters to a single reason - in-game fonts missing letters whose support we want from ZoS. Is it hard to convert fonts game by adding all the characters there? Fans already do this, created RuESO, pay attention - the fans. Programmers can not...

And we do not care how many languages and which supports the game, it is not about the localization of the game, and the support of printable characters.
Note that WoW, published 10 years ago, too, was originally English, but for some unknown reason, people could write in it any letters in any language. Mysticism. Perhaps Blizzard programmers knowledge more than the programmers ZoS, moreover in the 10 years that have passed since then - they have become even more knowledge.

    Hey there @StrangerFull,

All characters are available in /help and /bug because these features are accessed via an in-game web browser.

    Hey there @wOOOOt_of_SD,

We have indeed passed along the feedback to the appropriate department. We added the portion about /feedback to let folks know that they don't have to minimize the game and log in to the forums if they would like to send feedback along.

    Hey there @Dux042,

Currently we don't have any information on whether other languages will be supported. Should this happen, we'll be sure to update the official website, the forums, and our social media pages.

Cool, and no worries, I only check forums when I don't have access to the game.

But please go kick someone gently - its just a few letters.

I have seen several guildmates who saw this as an "idiotic" flaw. All other MMO's support our 3 special letters,
and some players did leave ESO because of bugs where this was the last straw for them.

Now we see a lot of members coming back to give ESO a second chance. And the first comment from many is "WTH - did they not even fix the letters?" - it just gives many of us a very bad impression, that such a small thing havent been fixed.

It is very hard to communicate in writing without these 3 letters.
Try to write in Enlis without using H and G for example..

    Nuff said. Crosses fingers.

I'm going to take the liberty of quoting two comments from a closed post with same topic to show you that spanish are in a similar situation.
    Ariane wrote: »
Swedish players should be able to use their characters, just as German, French and Spanish players can use theirs.

Actually, Spanish can't. We use the same letters an English native uses, except for "ñ", which is not supported, so we have to commit grammar aberrations while talking to each other.

In our case, it's just one single letter and it makes our communication a little bit limited, I cannot imagine what other languages are suffering.

Polish as well. Luckily, it doesn't hinder communication in our language. Still, it would be nice if we could use all our special characters; if I remember correctly, only ó is available, the rest is missing (ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ś, ź, ż).

Hi. We all talking about supporet characters in ingame chat, not /help or /bug. We are about chat when we can't wtire out characters because they missed in fonts. You talking about no support and no information almost for one year.

Hi. We all talking about supporet characters in ingame chat, not /help or /bug.

You misunderstood Gary. He wants you to write a bug report in the game, where you should be able to use those characters just fine to create a ticket showing the characters you're missing in the ingame fonts.

Once they've got that ticket, it's just one or two clicks for their support team to assign those tickets to an existing bug "players want to use new characters to talk to others".

This allows them to collect all such requests and at the same time they're able to determine how many really want this, i.e. how important this is.

I understood Gary. I had been writing in support of that are not supported by all printable characters in the chat, but you seem to not understand me. Once again, for those who do not understand, I can write a / bug with the use of any character from any language of the world, such as "абвгдеёжзийклмнопрст"", but I can not write those same letters in game chat, about this topic and procrastinate it for a year, since the start of the game, even since the closed beta test the game. In 1.6 added support for two new characters, but these are limited. So why not add all at once? No people, time, desire, or something else?
