Suggestion - Inspect Player

    IF inspect player is ever added to ESO it should be to see a text field that each player can set for themselves.

    You select "Inspect Gidorick"

    And since I am allowed to put whatever I want in that text field (within reason... standard community rules apply), you see:
    You see a shifty eyed Argonian who thumbs the edge of the blade by his side. He obviously doesn't trust you, and you shouldn't trust him.

    If I wanted to I could put stats and whatnot in that area, but that's up to each individual player to decide what they want to divulge.
    What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

    Heh, I for one would love to have some text field to fill with a little bit about my characters! It's one of the things I often miss in such games...

    I agree with OP - we need such and options. I miss it so much, all other MMO's have it. Its a must for a solid MMO.

    I think this is a terrible idea.

    A few months ago, my Pact Sorcerer was playing with a large organized group in Cyrodiil. All the leaders of the group were kewl and fun to play with, except one. When he was the group's active leader, he expected Sorcerers to only use destruction staves, Dragonknights to only wear heavy armor, etc. He went so far as to tell each class which abilities to slot on which bar. Otherwise, he was a good leader.

    Since I play exclusively as a healer in Cyrodiil, I just kept my mouth shut and kept playing as normal. He even thanked me for a heal one time without realizing I wasn't a Templar--which in his mind is the only healer in the game.

    If this guy had the ability to inspect our gear and abilities, I'm sure he would have.

    I don't care if they add this or not, but if you don't want the function and are getting angry by simply the idea of it.. then please think of some better reasons other then "elitism".

    I'd like to have and retain control about who can get my character's information. An anonymous inspection feature would violate my privacy.

    because all wannabe just Inspect good player and copie the build or set up and learn nothing how to play the game

    I'd love this feature. I get curious all the time what style something is in or what setup someone is using. If not an inspect then possibly a way to link your character in chat for people to see.

    If you're curious, ask them about style. No need to have a tool that would be almost exclusively be used for harassing people.

    I'd like an inspect feature to minimize the amount of my time other people are wasting.

    Hypothetically, of course. There's no content difficult enough in this game to really care about pulling some dead weight.

    I would...actually love this. This is the only incarnation of an inspect feature that I want.

    Thanks @emeraldbay I think it would be a PERFECT way to please many groups.

    You could silently find people like yourself. If you're the type to care about this stat or that, look for others that have those stats in their inspect field. Heck.. people could even put a little inventory in there with prices so people could have their own little "shops". Such a simple feature could add SO much depth and interaction to the community.
    What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

    It would add a nice element for RP and for those interested in more stat oriented info the choice to add more would be there.

    LotrO had a charcter panel which of course included gear, stats, etc. but also a "bio" for this type of self disclosed info. Since the massive overhaul to class changes with Helm's Deep, they got rid of the option to fully inspect stats though you can see the gear still, but the "bio" is still there and lots of people do use it. Sometimes, you end up reading a huge story, lol. It would be kind of fun to see something similar here.

    I wouldn't mind it, I have a Trials guild and they don't ask for specific ***, they just ask for DPS/Heals/Tank and we go, and 99.99% of the time we get fifteen minutes or less, the only problem I foresee this causing is more elitism even though ESO doesn't really have any, I can solo all the mobs up to the first boss of AA, and, the first boss of AA... So elitism really means jack when I can do that, or take my DK buddy, Vash-Na, and my own DK, and duo the first Hel Ra boss. Hell, if we really tried we could probably solo the second boss too, the top one, or the bottom one, bottom one would be easy as pie, top could be more difficult, at least, we could do it in 1.5, 1.6.... That's a different story.

    No its not. If u dont want waste time with low players in pug u need it. And achievment check also need to prove the player know the tactic of boss, etc.

    I disagree as this drives an elitist attitude vs working and playing or enjoying the game amongst others.
    WoW suffers from this feature and it would kill the "play as you like" concept.

    I am a bit ambivalent about the "inspect gear" stuff. Most times I'd be against it... but... it -could- also be used by friends to help new players, tell them what's suboptimal for their setup...
    Still, I think the bad elitist trouble that function could bring outweights the possible benefits. And those who want to help can just as well tell the newbies what works better and what works worse...

    why should you be able to tell what pants I am wearing from general social interaction? See the skin but the level , trait, enchant etc? That's just daft.

    That said it would make non-consensual pvp much easier as you could just check out their gear before you ganked them etc.

    As a griefing tool it's probably a nice to have but other than than that? meh. If you want to know - Ask them

    Quite a few people are opposed to this, they say it makes it easier for elitists to reject people for groups based on their gear.

    Oh gawd. Reminds me so much of dungeon running in gw2. People want to know other players achievement points level & class build.

    Agree this is generally for the 'elitist' types.

    These players will always find a way to identify who they want to invite and who they want to avoid, regardless of the implementation of /inspect.

    It is therefore not a good reason to say no.

    Inspect could allow you to look at a players gear and experiences or achievements in detail. Nice bragging rights. It could also easily contain an 'anon' flag to prevent anyone from actually checking the details of gear.

    It is a nice idea and very workable with appropriate tags for worried people.

    it's that kind of lousy mentality that makes people say no to the inspect player option. I do understand where you're coming from though it's no fun being bothered by people who are inferior to you right?

    Well, if anything this game seems like it has a lot of players who want to be carried through hard content? Or why are people worried about getting kicked from groups exactly? I mean, I've been kicked from Trial groups because people are idiots.. like I once decided to join a PUG back when my DK was just newly leveled and I didn't have the achievement on that character. I told them, well, you can check my main and my position on the leaderboard but I'm not going to bother relogging to link it.. kicked. :D But really, did I mind being kicked by a group of morons? Nah, I'm happier not having to carry them because it's more than likely they themselves are crap and thus need to vet everyone else to even get through it. I've seen people try and PUG for SO and linking their UNCOMPLETED achievements just hoping no one will check.. that stupidity is already here and inspect will neither make it worse nor better, because stupid people are stupid and they will always exist.

    I'd like inspect just because it would help me see how my group performs and why. It's the same thing with DPS meters, if no one would use DPS meters, how could you possibly know why you are failing DPS checks (like Varlariel)? It will always be because half your group is pulling <300 DPS. Probably because they decided that non-set heavy armor and DW was good for a Magicka/Stamina hybrid DPS. If they don't do the 500 DPS that is required by everyone for it to even be possible to get through that fight, do they still have the right to complete it by being carried through by people who do 1,4K?

    I've seen enough fights where one person does the job of four others. If that makes me elitist now, then so be it.. Anyway, I'm not a mean person so I don't kick people from PUGs.. If I do PUGs I just assume that half the group is incompetent and make sure the other half can still finish it. It would still be nice to have inspect to see approximately how good the rest of the group needs to be to make up for these people :#
